Dorothy and Leilani’s reunion, as well as his proposal to her in public was not a secret. Hence, there was no need to keep things secret at the scene.
This meant that under Credence’s deliberate indulgence, these two matters that were related to Dorothy were splattered all over the news.
At the city hospital, Juelz was now able to eat normally after undergoing treatment for half a month. His surface wounds had all healed, but his internal wounds were yet to fully recover. He had no choice but to continue staying in the hospital to undergo the necessary treatment under Sontha’s forcefulness.
On this day, Sontha brought a lot of documents that required Juelz’s signature to the hospital. He stood by Juelz’s bedside and told him about some amusing things that had happened at the company to cheer him up.
When it came to a sales manager, Sontha was especially amused. He’d drank himself dry to win a huge deal with some multinational company. He’d had two expensive, concentrated white wing, followed by beer and red wine, and he’d ended up in the hospital. However, at least he managed to get the deal.
“Mr. Wood of the sales department, I remember him. He loves his job more than he loves his wife.”
There was a hint of a playful smile on Juelz’s healed handsome face. He lowered his eyes and glanced at Sontha’s hesitant expression. He asked in a low voice, “Is there anything else?”
Sontha frowned and he remained silent for a few seconds. In the end, he decided to speak out his mind. “Mr. Sherman, something big has happened to Miss Fisher recently. I don’t know if I should tell you about it.”
When Juelz heard him mention Dorothy, a trace of pain flashed in his eyes. “Dory? Isn’t she under Credence’s care and protection? What could possibly happen to her?”
Sontha’s expression turned serious. Before he could say anything, the sound of a few nurses chatting and giggling rang out from outside.
“Hey, hey, hey, girls, have you all watched that popular video from the headlines today? That proposal video, it’s so awesome. That 50-carat diamond ring almost blinded me!”
“Of course I did! I’d rather miss watching my idol rather than miss watching that video. Apparently, that ring itself costs 50 or 60 million! I think I’ll be dreaming about that ring for the rest of my life.”
“If I were that woman that was being proposed to, I would’ve agreed even if it were a 5 or 6 million ring, let alone 50 or 60 million.”
“Am I the only one who paid attention to the man who was proposing? God, he’s so handsome, even more handsome than my idol! With a face like that, I’d be willing to spend money for him, rather than having him give me money!”
“Ha! It’s not as easy as you think! That’s Credence Scott, the most eligible bachelor in Talco City.”
“I really envy that woman. She’s so lucky to be able to marry him. She must have saved the galaxy in her past life. Maybe that’s why she deserves this!”
“Shh! There’s also another rich and handsome man in our VIP ward. Let’s see which one of us is good enough to hook up with him!”
“If you think you can, then go for it!”
At first, Juelz wasn’t interested in their gossiping, but his attention was caught by what they said.
Credence proposed?
Apart from Dorothy, who else could he have proposed to?
Juelz felt a throbbing pain in his heart. It felt like thousands of arrows had pierced through his heart.
The muscles on his face twitched uncontrollably, and he could not help but stretch out his hands to reach for his phone on the bedside table.
He wanted to watch the proposal video with his own eyes.
Sontha anxiously watched Juelz’s face fall, then turned at yelled at the corridor, “What’s wrong with you? How can you be so noisy? Don’t you know that your patients need to rest in silence?”
He had intended to slowly tell Juelz about Credence’s proposal to Dorothy himself. However, he was caught off guard and his plans were foiled by these nosy women.
It wasn’t a big deal to expose the matter, but they spoke of Credence so adoringly and full of awe. They were just adding salt to Juelz’s wounds.
The nurses in the corridor were shocked by Sontha’s shouts, and they left in a hurry.
Sontha quickly closed the door, then went back to Juelz’s bedside. He was worried that Juelz would injure himself again when he had yet to fully recover, and it’d take even longer for him to be discharged.
Sontha called out cautiously, “Mr. Sherman, Mr. Sherman?!”
Juelz didn’t hear Sontha calling him at all. He just lay on the bed stiffly and stared at the video of Dorothy accepting Credence’s huge diamond ring. Though she didn’t look completely willing, and even glared at Credence…
Juelz had known her for plenty of years, he had loved her for a long, long time. Hence, he could easily see through the joy hidden in Dorothy’s expressions, and even the happiness that was buried in the deepest parts of her heart.
Even though she would not say it out loud, he knew that her hasty yet bitter marriage with Credence ten years ago was one of the most painful experiences she had, and she hid it in the deepest part of her heart.
Now, Credence had finally given her a grand and luxurious marriage proposal. How could she not be happy?
He was just salty about the fact that in the end, he was not the man who gave her her happiness!
The proposal video made Juelz see red. He was stiff for a long time, and he didn’t know how to describe his feelings.
He was sad, in pain, regretful and unwilling, but he wasn’t happy.
After a long, long time, he finally pulled himself away from that painful scene and swiped to the next video.
The second video was about Dorothy and Leilani’s reunion.
Juelz didn’t know anything about this, and he’d never heard Dorothy mention this before. However, he knew that it was very likely for Credence to help Dorothy track down her mother.
She’d been alone for so long, and she’d never truly experienced the love of a family. Now that her mother had been found, he was truly happy for her.
However, when Juelz caught a clear glimpse of Leilani’s face, his throat tightened and he widened his eyes. The ruthlessness and viciousness in his eyes surged, and he turned to Sontha. “Isn’t this woman that somebody called Leilani? She’s an actress or something, right?”
Under the influence of his friends, even though Juelz did not fancy small stars in the entertainment circle, he still had some knowledge about low-class stars, too.
The reason why he remembered Leilani was because she was known to be an open and unscrupulous woman. As long as the price was high enough, she was willing to do anything with any man. Another reason was that she looked like Dorothy.
In the past, one of Juelz’s playboy friends had joked about him playing with someone who looked like Dorothy, since he couldn’t have her.
Besides, once the lights were off, it’d be like he’d slept with Dorothy anyway.
Juelz could not stand anyone talking about Dorothy so badly like that. His anger erupted and he almost broke that man’s p*nis.
Because of this, Gordan had punished him severely, and he’d been hospitalised for half a month before recovering.
Moreover, not only was Leilani famous for her unscrupulousness, but she was also Ysabelle’s sister.
Such a notorious woman like her had suddenly came to Dorothy’s side and admitted to being her biological mother. It must not be as simple as it looked. Juelz was sure that there was a catch, and she must have some hidden agenda.
At the thought of this, Juelz’s anxiety surged. He couldn’t continue to lie here calmly, and he quickly got out of bed and ran out of the ward in his hospital gown. “Sontha, drive me somewhere right now!”
Perhaps because she was too busy attending to Belle, Germaine and Credence all at once, Dorothy hadn’t contacted Juelz after texting him her number.
It had only been half a month, but he was all skin and bones. He had dark eye circles, and his skin was so pale that he looked like a corpse.
He would only look alive and well when Dorothy was mentioned.
Sontha chased after Juelz. He sighed as he stared at his frail figure. “Mr. Sherman, you’re going the wrong way. The elevator is over here.”
“You talk too much, wouldn’t I f*cking know where I am going?”
Juelz swore to himself, then quickly turned around and shot Sontha a complicated look. He huffed, then strode over to the elevator.
An hour later, Juelz arrived at the Sherman family mansion.
Half an hour ago, he’d changed into an extra shirt and leather shoes. At this moment, he stood at the entrance of the mansion, the very picture of a successful man, and stared at the lion statues at the entrance.
In the past, when Gordan was in still charge of Sherman Group, there had always been people milling about the mansion.
Ever since Jeremy had stolen Sherman Group away from Gordon, he’d had a stroke, become paralysed and had lost his mind, and only a few people were left in this mansion.
Juelz asked Sontha to wait in the car. He took a deep breath and forced his way inside with a gloomy yet handsome look on his face.
The bodyguards immediately rushed over to stop him.
Juelz kicked them away, then rushed into the main hall. With a voice full of hatred and resentment, he yelled, “Yezoo, Ysabelle, get your f*cking *sses out here!”
