Juelz stepped into the Sherman Group tower at half-past nine that night.
This tower belonged to Sherman family. It was originally under the control of Juelz’s grandfather, Gordon. After he suffered from a stroke and became paralysed, he could no longer attend to the company’s matters, and Jeremy took over the Sherman family.
Yet Juelz, who had originally been the likeliest to inherit the Sherman family became an outsider.
Juelz was infuriated when the security guards stopped him at the main entrance. He quickly called Jeremy. “I have something urgent to ask you. Are you going to come down or do you want me to go up?”
At the other end of the line, Jeremy was a little surprised. He soon returned to his senses and replied indifferently, “You may come up.”
With Jeremy’s order, the security guards let Juelz pass.
Juelz scoffed. He didn’t bother with the guards, hurried into an elevator and headed towards the president’s office.
As soon as he opened the door, he saw Jeremy leaning back in a chair lazily. He looked at Juelz coldly and said, “Why are you here so late?”
It was evident that he didn’t appreciate being bothered at this time.
Juelz immediately strode forward, his face thunderous. “Jeremy, how the f*ck do you still have the guts to ask me what I’m here for?”
“We agreed that you’d only lock Dorothy up, didn’t we? Why did she end up in that scumbag Hugo’s hands?”
“And Hugo even sent out such an obscene video, like he’s trying to show off.”
“If anything happens to Dory, I’ll rip you into pieces! Don’t forget that we’re in this together.”
The moment he saw the video, Juelz was infuriated. However, he felt even more guilt and heartache.
If he’d known that Dorothy would suffer such humiliation and misery in Jeremy’s hands, he definitely wouldn’t have worked with Jeremy, and he wouldn’t have signed that secret agreement.
However, it was too late to do anything now.
With Hugo’s lecherous nature, there was no way he would let Dorothy off the hook.
Moreover, Dorothy and Hugo had grudges of their own…
“Jeremy, how the f*ck could you go back on your word? Are you trying to kill me?”
Juelz’s eyes were red with hatred, and he glared at Jeremy. He was one step away from killing him.
Jeremy hadn’t expected Juelz to also receive the video of Dorothy, and he hadn’t expected Juelz to be so enraged. He narrowed his eyes at Juelz, his eyes cold and ruthless. “I don’t care whether you believe me, but whatever happened with Dorothy had nothing to do with me.”
“However, since we’re on the topic, as long as Dorothy’s matters can affect Credence’s judgement or even drive him crazy, isn’t that better for both of us? We’ll be able to get so much more out of this.”
“Juelz, the ends justify the means.”
“You’re telling me that the means don’t matter?”
Juelz slammed a fist on the table and roared, “You want Scott Group, and you want Credence to be ruined, but I only want Dorothy!”
“To her, I’m the one who got her into this. I’m the cause of her humiliation and despair! How am I going to face her from now on?”
Compared to Juelz’s anger, Jeremy was calm. He blew out some smoke circles and smiled carelessly. “That’s none of my business, is it?”
Juelz held back his anger and suddenly sneered, “Jeremy, you ruined Dory’s image of me, but do you think I’m the only one who’s going to suffer from this? Do you know who sent me the video?”
“Who?” Jeremy narrowed his eyes and looked at Juelz sinisterly. It was hard to make out his expression through the smoke.
“Germaine sent it to me.”
When Juelz saw Jeremy’s face darken, a wave of victory washed over him.
He smiled frostily. “I’m sure you know that Dory is Germaine’s best friend. Yet, you were the one who handed Dory over to that scumbag Hugo and allowed Hugo to harm and humiliate her. What do you think Germaine’s going to think of you?”
“You know how Germaine is. I would think that she would completely cut you out of her life, Jeremy.”
“So the biter is bit in the end! The heavens are watching every step you make, you know.”
“Don’t you dare use her to threaten me!”
Jeremy clenched his fists. He took a deep breath, and forced himself to calm down. “It’s been years. I’m sure this isn’t the first time she’s experienced my heartlessness and scheming.”
“You may be willing to pay the price, but I’m not!” Juelz roared. “Tell me where she is, right now!”
“Ask Wilson. He’s the one who handled all of this.”
Juelz quickly called Wilson and asked about Dorothy. When he found out that Hugo didn’t manage to do anything and that he’d already brought Dorothy to the villa, he breathed a sigh of relief and left immediately.
Jeremy watched him leave. The moment Juelz was out of sight, he slammed a fist on the table, his cold expression giving way to anger.
F*ck, he hadn’t expected things to turn out this way. Neither himself, Credence nor Juelz would gain anything from this.
…
Juelz raced through several red lights before arriving at the villa that Wilson had prepared. Even before the car was parked properly, he jumped out of the car and hurried into the brightly-lit hall.
Wilson was already waiting for him, and he put on a polite yet sincere smile. “This way, Mr. Juelz.”
“Where is Dory?”
Juelz didn’t want to waste time on small talk. He got straight to the point.
“She’s in the guest room on the top floor. Since it’s already this late, she should be sleeping after having her dinner.”
“Take me to her now.”
“Sure, please come with me, Mr. Juelz.”
Wilson understood Juelz’s anxiety and worry for Dorothy and quickly led him to the elevator.
The closer he got, the more flustered Juelz became.
His heart was racing.
Wilson led the way, and he was the first to notice that something was wrong. He saw the two guards lying unconscious on the floor, and his face darkened. “Mr. Juelz, I think Miss Fisher has already been taken away by someone. It’s my fault for being careless.”
“F*ck you.”
Juelz was about to explode with anger. He kicked Wilson in the calf and roared, “Find her, quick! If anything happens to Dory, I’ll send all of you to hell!”
At the same time, Credence and Marvin’s search had led them to an abandoned warehouse in a forest in the suburbs.
The search party got out of the car and rushed towards the warehouse.
“Credence, take this.”
Marvin threw a black pistol at Credence, and they headed towards the warehouse and kicked the door open.
Credence stood at the door and turned on a spotlight. He ran his eyes over every corner of the warehouse, even the ceiling. It was dirty and covered in dust.
They didn’t find anyone after a careful search. All they found was a torn piece of cloth behind a pillar.
Judging from the color and material, it was from Dorothy’s clothes.
Apart from that, there was nothing else.
“How’d Hugo escape so soon?” Marvin massaged his temples and cursed out loud. “Did something happen in the middle or did someone inform him to leave?”
Credence frowned. The more anxious he got, the more expressionless he became. His frosty eyes stared at the torn cloth. He abruptly bent down, picked it up and clutched it in his hand before turning to leave. “Marvin, I’ll take her as she comes.”
As long as she was alive.
Nothing else mattered as long as she was alive!
