Book:Sinful Mates Series Published:2024-6-4

Tobias’s hand shoots out like a snake, faster than I can blink. He grips my wrist tight, not letting me break free from him. “I’m sorry.” I stop, blinking at him, all the rage inside me vanishes. Did I just hear Tobias apologize? Maybe the world is ending. “I should have asked you,” he says softly, his other hand gently brushing the mark. Not enough to hurt but like an artist surveying a masterpiece. “I knew you would say no, and I couldn’t let you walk around unmarked for much longer.”
Is he mentally challenged? Did I just hear that right? Leave me unmarked what the fuck does that even mean? And this gentleness, this isn’t like Tobias at all. “I’m not your toy,” I snarl at them, but my voice has lost its bite.
“No one thinks you’re a toy, although I do like playing with you,” Theo’s voice speaks from behind. He sweeps my hair away, exposing my neck. I shiver at the feeling of his fingertips brushing my skin.
“I think she likes being played with,” Tobias whispers, making me turn my attention to him. Theo chuckles, and I roll my eyes his way, his hypnotic green eyes glint, burning brighter. I can’t escape. My breath catches in my throat when he pushes his body into mine, forcing me to lean back against Tobias. Theo’s lips hover a few centimeters off mine, while his hand moves to my hip, his thumb rubbing circles against it, leaning in closer. “Do you like being played with, Imogen?” he whispers, his voice husky.
I can’t think, I can’t breathe. His hand moves languidly up my side to cup my breast, thumb lazily rolling over my nipple. The thin fabric of my bra isn’t enough to stop my shudder. Tobias’ hands wrap around my waist while his lips suck on the bite mark he gave me. It stings for a moment before that familiar pleasure from the night before dances through me. I moan as the bliss follows the path of this tongue.
Theo’s lips brush mine, “I think you like being our toy.” He whispers against my lips, he smiles before kissing me. My lips naturally part and his cold tongue brushes mine before a hand goes to my cheek, deepening the kiss. Tobias grabs my hips, pulling me into him. His erection rubs against my ass, sliding between my legs, promising me so much more than what we enjoyed the night before.
My mind clouds, this is so wrong, but yet I can’t pull away. I hate to admit it, but I want them both. I like Theo’s cold skin against mine and Tobias unnaturally warm hands on my body. One hot, one cold, but both feel so right. Natural even, although there’s nothing normal about any of this and I find myself drowning in this sensation. A knock at the door makes me jump away from the two. The fog lifts as our little bubble of lust bursts.
I was ready to have sex with both of them, right here and now. When did I become such a woman? That thought scares me. Tobias growls from behind me, it’s primal and predatory, like a tiger about to rip its prey limb from limb. It vibrates up my spine making me tremble. I look at Tobias over my shoulder. His eyes aren’t his normal piercing blue, they are pitch black. Even the whites of his eyes are stained. I stumble into Theo, trying to get away from him, this isn’t real. He looks like a creature from a horror movie! My hands tremble with fear taking over, Theo lets me go and I step back, studying them both. Every hair on my body rises, fight and flight kicking in, adrenaline and fear pulsating through every cell in my body. Tobias’ eyes go back to their normal color, but I know what I saw. Whatever my boss is, he isn’t human. People’s eyes don’t change like that, and they certainly don’t growl.
They are twin statues, watching my every movement but not coming for me. I think if either did, I would race out of the room like a scared bunny. Like this, they are too beautiful for me to tear my eyes away. The knock resumes, unaware it has changed the fate of my day.
Without the interruption I would be writhing between the two of them, urging them to make me theirs as I lose myself in the sweet bliss they bring with their touches.
I don’t belong to them in any sense, but I was willing to give all of myself before the truth came out. Something has always been off with these two, but not human? I dare not speak my thoughts, I’ll be nothing but labeled insane and threatened to be thrown into a mental asylum. The knock happens again, a sharp impatient rap at the door.
Theo moves first. He unfolds himself from his position on the edge of the desk and walks forward, arms outstretched, eyes gentle. “Imogen,” he whispers.
I don’t give him a chance. I whirl, bolt for the door, throw it open and run straight into a woman I don’t recognize. She has long black hair and emerald green eyes just as hypnotic as Theo’s. She’s visibly shocked to see me running from the office.
“Sorry,” I mutter, bolting past her.
Theo tries to come for me but freezes when the woman steps in his way, blocking him from exiting. I run to the stairs, not wanting to wait for the elevator. Slipping my feet out of my heels, I run down the stairs, skipping some in my haste.
Coming to the bottom, I open the lobby door and he stands there with his arms crossed over his chest, blocking my exit. How the fuck did he get here so fast? Even if he took the other fire escape, it’s on the other side of the building!
I take a step back, prepared to run all the way back up, but Theo stands on the stairs behind me. I’m trapped. Both watch me, like two snakes observing their prey before they decide if they are hungry enough to devour it. Tobias steps into the stairwell, closing the door behind him and pushing his weight against it, cutting off any escape I could manage.
“Oh, my. This is so very interesting. Tobias, your father is going to be quite disappointed, you took a human for a mate,” she says the words to him, but her cold calculating gaze remains on me. She’s just behind Theo, elbow propped on the railing. She studies me with a bored and unphased expression.
I am cornered, no escape. My heart pounds so hard I can hear it. I’m lightheaded, dizzy, ready to collapse into a pile of goo and give up, just let these monsters do whatever they want. How can I fight them? I shake and pitch forward, falling to the ground and the endless black that awaits me, but at least it’s an escape. Maybe it’ll be better if I never return from it.
