Because of Rawland Lodge’s bad reputation, Credence almost never came here.
As a result, his arrival caused a big commotion for the owner, and he brought managers from various departments to gather around him. The person in charge showed him a flattering smile. “Mr. Scott, it’s an honor to have you here.”
Credence’s handsome face darkened, his gaze was sinister and dangerous. “Show me all your surveillance footage. I’m looking for someone.”
However, when he watched the videos from that day, he could not find anything. It was the same as the park. The screen was completely black, and he could not see anything.
The person in charge was so scared that his legs went soft, he sweated profusely and tried to explain, “Mr. Scott, I really don’t know what happened. I have asked the technicians and they said that it looks like they were attacked by hackers. The screen had turned dark for over an hour, after that, it automatically returned to normal. In places like this, our visitors are either rich or noble, so we have to take care of their privacy. Therefore, the monitoring won’t be so strict.”
Credence sneered, “As expected! Close the door, don’t let anyone go.”
He turned around and walked towards Ivana. He ruthlessly ordered her, “Take your men for a thorough investigation of every room in here.”
As long as something had happened, some traces would surely be left.
He thought of Dorothy and how he could not get to her by phone, his face darkened. He clenched his fingers and almost crushed the screen of the mobile phone.
Without having much hope, he dialed her number once more.
He never expected it to connect this time.
Dorothy’s painful and twitching voice could be heard from the other side, “Credence, my legs might be broken.”
When he heard her soft and painful voice, a trace of tenderness flashed across his eyes, “Stay where you are, don’t move, I’ll come to you right away.”
It did not take Credence, Benjamin, Ivana and her men much effort to find something abnormal at the end of the corridor on the third floor.
When they moved those filthy beds of happiness away, they saw a secret tunnel underneath. It was long and twisted, and the path was big enough to accommodate two people, which one could use to go directly to the first floor.
Dorothy had fallen straight to the collapsed side of the piped path. She laid on her stomach looking extremely weak.
It was a pitch-black corner. If one didn’t look carefully, one could not see her at all.
“Dorothy, don’t be afraid. I’m coming.”
Credence’s eyes swept over her silently, and his heart ached. He quickly took off his suit jacket and ordered Benjamin to flash the area. After that, he bent down and walked towards her bit by bit.
“Credence, Belle and Germaine have been taken away by Rosalie. I saw her and her men walking through this pipe, so I secretly followed from behind. However, I was too useless and got stuck here.”
Dorothy felt aggrieved and said in a sad tone.
Her right foot was firmly stuck in the connected end of the pipe, and the sharp edge deeply pierced through her legs and reached into her bones. Her khaki trousers were stained with blood, and she dared not move at all.
Fresh blood was still flowing. If she moved even a little bit, the blood would only flow faster.
She was afraid that she would lose too much blood and faint in this empty pipe. Despite not being able to see and feeling dizzy, she fumbled in the darkness and found her handbag, then took out her cellphone. She tried to open it only to realize that the battery was dead.
She felt lucky to have brought her portable charger at such a critical moment.
She fiddled for the cables, plugged it in, and found over a dozen missed calls from Credence.
At that moment, Dorothy felt both bitter and excited.
All because of his persistence.
Just as she was about to call him back, her phone rang again, and it gave her an unlimited supply of courage. Even the wound that had reached her bones did not feel pain anymore.
At this moment, Credence had already reached her. Using the strong penetrating power from the searchlight, he focused on her ghostly pale face. He looked down and saw her bloody right leg, a sharp pain could be felt in his heart. He tried to comfort her softly, “Try to endure it for a little while.”
After that, he stretched out his strong palms towards the place where Dorothy was stuck, and he used all his strength to push the steel pipes on both sides away by an inch. He said in a deep voice, “Raise your right leg.”
“Okay.”
Dorothy had long tightened her body and braced for this. When she heard Credence’s words, she immediately clenched her teeth and endured the deathly pain. She lifted her injured leg up.
This was just a simple movement, but it was so painful that she broke out in a cold sweat, she could not help but tremble. Just as she was about to climb up the pipe, the man suddenly held her waist. She could feel his breath under her nose. “Wait, let’s bandage your wound first.”
He took off his shirt and touched her bloody knee with his slender fingers. He used a gentle yet suitably powerful strength to carefully bandage her wound.
His warm and familiar scent engulfed her from head to toe.
All of a sudden, her heart beat faster, and she was in a panic. She was afraid that he would hear it, so she looked down and stared at his flexible hands.
Following that, an even stronger smell of blood entered her nose.
Dorothy realized that his palms were injured and his flesh could be seen. It must have been from moving the pipes.
She suddenly looked away, and tears surrounded her eyes. She said in a hoarse way, “Sorry, you got injured because of me.”
“Don’t say such silly things!”
Credence spread his long arms and held the awkward and guilty woman closer to his chest little by a little. He let out a satisfied yet heavy sigh, then pressed his thin lips towards her trembling pale eyelids. “It’s just a small injury, I’m fine.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll take care of everything! I will help you save your precious daughter and Germaine.” He kissed her pale lips and said to her in a reassured and deep voice.
She blinked, and tears fell from her eyes. She looked up from his warm embrace, her face filled with doubts and hesitation, “Credence, can I still trust you?”
“Dorothy, I don’t ask for you to trust me now. I will give you time, and let you see my actions. After a long time, you will naturally trust me.”
He sighed deeply, he knew that he had hurt her too deeply back then, so he didn’t want to rush her. He held her thin and weightless body and slowly walked out of the pipe, towards the secret door, and set the woman in his arms down on a sofa.
Benjamin’s eyes were sharp and he clearly understood the situation. He had already sent Ivana and the others away. He even found a female nurse from the place to check on Dorothy’s injury.
“You’ve injured your bone, we’re going to have to put a cast on it. You shouldn’t walk and carry heavy objects in a short period of time. You’ll have to be bedridden for about half a month to completely heal.
Dorothy was anxious, “But, Belle is still waiting for me to save her. I don’t want to be trapped in a bed and not be able to do anything for Belle.”
Credence waved his hand, signaling Benjamin to leave. His palm was still bleeding, so he clenched it into a fist. He gently wiped the tears in her eyes away and said slowly, “I’ll take care of everything! I promise you that I won’t let anything bad happen to your daughter or Germaine.”
Her tears were burning hot, and when it landed on his palms, his heart burned too.
Dorothy was stunned, the endless panic and fear in her heart were strangely soothed by his words.
When she looked up, she noticed that he was not wearing a shirt. His arms were fair and strong, his muscles were firm and robust, his lower abdomen was flat without any excess fat, and he had beautiful six packs. He looked very sexy.
Her cheeks suddenly turned rosy, and she lowered her head in a hurry. Her breathing was in a mess and she dared not look at him.
He knew what was on her mind and he sighed at her shyness. He chuckled, if it wasn’t because of the situation they were in, he would have done it right there with her.
“Have a good rest first. I will go find Benjamin and discuss the rescue plan.”
After that, Credence walked out of the room, he took a suit jacket from Benjamin and put it on. He simply cleaned up the wound on his hand. When he was about to call Marvin and ask for his powerful military connections, he saw the door of the elevator open. Jeremy strode out with a cold smile on his handsome face.
These two handsome men with completely different styles looked at each other with unfathomable emotions in their eyes.
Credence thought of the rumors about Jeremy that he heard from the other upper-class of Talco City. He nodded to the other party with a stern look on his face. “Germaine has been kidnapped by Rosalie, do you know that?”
