For some reason, when Credence saw Juelz hugging Dorothy tightly as he comforted her and wiped away her tears, he felt extremely uncomfortable.
His chest had been wrapped in gauze, and the wounds on his ribs were so painful that it felt like knives stabbing him with every breath he took.
Then, he closed his eyes and opened them fiercely. A cold look could be seen on his face.
He felt like his woman had been robbed from him by another man.
Next, he revealed a sneer.
Of course not.
She was just a cheater. Thus, whoever she threw herself at, whoever she fell in love with, had nothing to do with him.
Credence had always been good at controlling his emotions. A sharp glint flashed through his eyes, but soon, it vanished without a trace.
Meanwhile, Marvin was still as serious and stern as ever. He ignored Dorothy and Juelz as he only focused on sending Credence to the VIP ward, not caring about anything else.
If Dorothy was still Credence’s wife, then he would have nodded at her politely. However, Dorothy and Credence had nothing to do with each other anymore, so he naturally thought of her as a stranger.
A firm principle that he followed in his life was that he would spend all his time on things that he thought were worth doing.
Jonathan thought that the couple was just a pair of cheating b*stards, but it turned out to be Juelz and Dorothy. He was stunned for a while, then he stretched out his trembling fingers and pointed at Juelz, saying, “What are you doing here? It’s the middle of the night, so why aren’t you two shacking up in a hotel? Are you having an affair in the hospital?”
“What the hell are you talking about? Can you shut the f*ck up?”
Juelz loosened his hand that was embracing Dorothy. He turned around and saw Credence lying on the stretcher, expressionless. Somehow, he felt an elated sensation, as he had finally gotten his revenge.
Then, he smiled, “Dory is in a bad mood. Is it against the law to comfort my girlfriend?”
Jonathan’s expression had never been more serious, “It’s not against the law, but you two are acting like it’s your last day on Earth. What an eyesore.”
“If you find it an eyesore, why don’t you find a girlfriend yourself?”
When Juelz noticed that Credence’s face gradually turning livid, he was deeply overjoyed.
Juelz smiled so smugly, making Credence want nothing more than to beat him up.
Meanwhile, Dorothy was not facing them so she only heard the intense quarrel that took place. She knew that Credence had seen Juelz comforting her, and she felt a little flustered. Then, she felt a cold chill lingering around her.
She could not help but turn around, seeing Credence lying on a hospital bed, wrapped up like a mummy. Then, her body stiffened slightly.
It turned out that he had gotten so injured to the point where he could not even stand. Had Juelz really gone that far?
For the past six years, she had been with her daughter Belle, whose body had always been weak, so she often had to go to the hospital. She was so busy and worried every day that she had no time to think about Credence and miss him at all.
However, when she really had to face him, she would still be swayed, and her heartbeat would beat faster.
He was a man whom she had loved deeply, and she could only forget about her memories with him, but she could never ever forget his smiles and various facial expressions!
They looked at each other for a few seconds calmly. Then, Credence withdrew his gaze and spat a few words out towards Jonathan in a calm manner, “Send me to the ward. The sooner, the better!”
The next day.
When Rosalie heard that Credence had gotten seriously injured, she rushed to the hospital to take care of him.
“Credence, why are you injured? Who would be so cruel as to do this to you? Were they trying to kill you? Who did this?”
Under the light, Credence saw Rosalie in a white dress. He saw the anxiety on her face, filled with tenderness and worry.
He had such a tender woman beside him. She had never betrayed him, and she always cared about him and loved him deeply. Honestly, he should be satisfied with what he had.
His breathing was unstable as he coughed. Then, he replied in a hoarse voice, “I’m fine.”
Marvin had been busy ever since the night before and he had called him early in the morning to make a report. He theorized that the men who had attacked him so ruthlessly were paid mercenaries. All the evidence on the scene had either been destroyed or cleared. It would be incredibly difficult to find the person who had done this in a short amount of time.
The perpetrator had seriously injured him, and they even left a small pinhole in his arm, but that was not enough to kill him. As such, it really was difficult to understand their motives.
In his three decades of living, Credence had never suffered such a loss. If he failed to find the attacker, he would never be at ease.
Meanwhile, Rosalie brought in a basin of warm water, and she soaked a towel in it before wiping Credence’s face with it.
When she lowered her head, she saw Credence looking back at her.
She smiled softly, “Credence, tell me what you want to eat, and I’ll make it for you.”
In that instant, Credence felt unbearable pain in his head as he stared at Rosalie’s exquisite face.
He vaguely remembered a woman who was even more beautiful and gentler than Rosalie. She had once asked him what he wanted to eat as well and that she would cook it for him.
Shockingly, that woman appeared to be Dorothy?
The same woman who hugged Juelz right in front of him?!
Meanwhile, Rosalie’s heart was petrified by the grave look in his eyes, and she secretly wondered if she had recently committed a mistake.
Originally, she had thought that if that man was willing to help kill Sheldon, then everything would be settled. Who would have known that once that man heard that the target was the patriarch of the Scott family, he had vehemently refused her? Furthermore, he had forbidden her from having such ideas, and even threatened to cut ties with her if she tried anything.
In the past few days, Rosalie kept having nightmares. She was worried that Sheldon would wake up one day and tell Credence everything she had done in the past. By that time, Credence would publicly call off his engagement with her, and he would even cruelly send her to prison.
Every time she woke up from that nightmare, Rosalie would be drenched in a cold sweat.
She told herself that there was no turning back at this point. Either Sheldon died, or she did. There was no other option.
Apart from that, Dorothy was eyeing Credence too. She even brought along Credence’s daughter, a little girl called Belle, back to Rosaville City.
Apart from a weak foundation of feelings, there was nothing else to maintain the relationship between her and Credence. If Credence really wanted to abandon her, there was nothing else she could do about that.
Then, Rosalie sighed softly, putting the towel and basin back into the bathroom. After that, she sat on the edge of the bed and elegantly leaned over towards Credence’s handsome face. She spoke tenderly with a gleam in her eyes.
Words fell from her alluring red lips as she said, “Credence, when you recover and get discharged from the hospital, I’ll move in with you, alright?”
