Why was Credence calling her?
For some reason, Dorothy panicked. She clutched the phone in her palm tightly, and she felt numb.
The only thought that was flashing through her mind was that Credence was calling her at 12 o’clock in the morning. Why was he doing so?
She answered the phone with trembling fingers. She was worried that Belle would be awakened from the noise, so she slipped on her slippers nervously and walked towards the bathroom, closing the door. She asked in a low voice, “Credence, it’s so late. What can I do for you?”
Credence’s voice was nowhere to be heard. On the other side of the phone, only Rosalie’s cold sneer appeared, “Dorothy, I haven’t seen you for six years and I thought that you’ve given up on Credence already. I didn’t expect that with just one call from him, you could become so excited that you would even change your voice. It seems that you still love him.”
“Unfortunately, he is now my fiancé, and we are lying on the same bed. He has also forgotten about you, as if he has long forgotten about a pile of garbage.”
“I’ve told you a long time ago that what belongs to me will always belong to me. No one else can take away anything that I rightfully have.”
“I don’t care why you’ve suddenly returned to Talco City, but if you’re here to take Credence back, then don’t blame me for being ruthless.”
“Six years ago, I caused your miscarriage and made you suffer the pain of being imprisoned. Six years later, I can still land you in jail, and you wouldn’t even be able to come out of prison this time!”
“Dorothy, I’ve never been a kind person. You’d better not force me. You know better than myself about what kind of a person I am. If you push me too far, I’ll even go against your precious daughter. I want you to regret messing with me for the rest of your life!”
Dorothy could feel Rosalie’s maliciousness through the screen of her phone.
Dorothy remembered the time when she had been thirteen and the Fisher family had held a grand party for Rosalie to celebrate her tenth birthday. She had not been qualified to attend. She could only hide in her narrow room, and peep out through the window.
Some youngsters had reckoned that the boring atmosphere in the living room was too stuffy, so they tried to find something fun to play with inside the house.
Suddenly, one of them had noticed Dorothy, a slender beauty, as she hid in her room. All of them had surrounded her and given her their delicious food. They had kept on telling her that a beautiful girl should eat more.
The fourteen-year-old Juelz was one of the rowdier ones. He had come off as a delinquent and he liked to glance at people from the corners of his eyes. There had been a cigarette in his mouth back then.
He seemed to be the leader of those boys, as not only had he given her a lot of food to eat and drink, he had even passed her a delicate small knife with some diamonds engraved on it. He had smiled and told her to grow up fast, so that she could marry him in the future.
At that time, after he said that, all the other youngsters had laughed, and said that he had even resorted to shamelessly flirting with young children.
However, Juelz had neither been angry nor annoyed. He only solemnly repeated his words.
Back then, Dorothy, who had never enjoyed the love and care of anyone else, saw Juelz as her friend for life.
That young boy had appeared in her life like a happy little bird, and after staying for a while, he left equally as fast too.
Not long after, she had gone to the kitchen for a drink. She did not know when Rosalie had entered, staring at the knife in Dorothy’s hand. She had then reached out and snatched it away, shouting angrily at her that a wild girl like Dorothy from an orphanage did not deserve such a beautiful thing.
After saying all that, Rosalie had raised the knife and left a slit in her arm, crying pitifully.
When Linda and Caleb entered, blood had been oozing from Rosalie’s arm, red and frightening. She had screamed and claimed that Dorothy wanted to kill her.
At that moment, Dorothy had been shocked and could not understand why Rosalie wanted to cut herself. She failed to come back to her senses for a long time. Later, when she had gotten beaten by Caleb and Linda, did she finally understand.
Back then, Rosalie had been short of ten years old, yet she had already known how to use such vicious means to frame her. Her heart was twisted, and her stomach was filled with ways to frame and scheme.
As Dorothy thought of the past, she felt amused. She could not take Rosalie’s harsh words seriously at all. Elegantly flipping her long hair, she slowly smiled, “Rosalie, aren’t you powerful? If so, why don’t you guess the real reason why I’m looking for Credence?”
“He’s just a man who I’ve given up on. Why must you be so anxious?”
“My words for you are still the same. What belongs to you will eventually be yours. If something doesn’t belong to you, then no matter how hard you try to hold on to it, it will still leave in the end.”
“It’s been six years. You’ve worked so hard throughout these six years, yet you’ve only earned the title of being his fiancée. Ask yourself, does Credence really love you? Do you really have a place in his heart?”
“Shut up, Dorothy, shut up! I’m telling you, Credence is mine and he will only be mine for the rest of his life!”
“Pft, you’ve gone off your rocker. I’m not willing to chit chat with you like this. Goodbye!”
Dorothy ignored Rosalie’s yells, hanging up the phone with a cold expression on her face.
She felt sorry for Credence for being loved by such a scheming woman like Rosalie.
However, what could she do about that?
That man no longer loved her, so no matter how much she cared for him, all her efforts would be futile.
A few minutes later, Dorothy received a few photos of Credence’s back in her mobile phone, all of Credence just casually wearing his black pajamas. He was smiling in them, and his eyes were filled with joy too. Obviously, he and Rosalie had just finished some intimate activities and were feeling quite relaxed.
The person who had sent her those photos was no other than Rosalie.
Her purpose was simple too. She only wanted to aggravate Dorothy.
Rosalie would be happy as long as Dorothy wasn’t.
Dorothy bit her lip, and quickly typed a string of words.
She replied, “I have many more photos like these. Tell me when you want it, and I can send them to you anytime you like.”
In the end, Rosalie no longer texted her back. The whole episode blew over just like that.
…
In the low-key and luxurious villa.
Credence had just come out of the bathroom. Draped in long black robes, he walked to the bar to fetch some wine and glass, then downed it all in a gulp. He turned around and saw Rosalie standing behind him. She bit her lips and smiled, but he could not help but frown. He said, “It’s so late, but you’re not going home yet?”
Rosalie ignored his words that were laced with iciness. She walked to Credence’s side charmingly and with her slender fingers, untied his robes. She slowly opened it, and her fair fingers moved along his sturdy and fair chest, slowly reaching down.
She realized that Credence’s body had tensed up a little, and she chuckled. She gently raised her head and exhaled through her slightly pursed lips, “Credence, will you let me stay here for the night?”
“Ah-”
In the next instant, Rosalie screamed as her body was suddenly being thrown towards the back of the counter. Her back hit the edge of the hard marble, and she landed on the cold floor.
She looked up amidst her pain.
Credence swirled the red wineglass in his hand. Not moving, his eyes were cold as he said, “I’ve said it before. We will talk about this after getting married.”
“But-”
Why was he only interested in Dorothy’s body? Why did he only want to taste Dorothy?
Rosalie fell to the ground painfully, curling up into a ball, much like the shape of a withered flower petal. Her eyes were filled with grief and jealousy.
On a Friday afternoon after a week, Dorothy was sorting out the meeting minutes and various other documents in Juelz’s office. At that moment, Germaine rushed in with an anxious look on her face.
“Dory, something bad has happened. Why did you turn off your phone? I went to the school to pick Belle up. Belle wanted me to come to the company to pick you up as well. However, just now, Belle suddenly had a high fever, and she passed out in the car. I asked Juelz to send her to the hospital first, and I’ve come to find you now.”
“Oh, perhaps my phone ran out of battery.”
Belle had a fever?
Dorothy’s face suddenly paled. She hurriedly ran to the suite next door and told her other colleagues about the situation. After handing over the tasks she had, she turned around and walked towards the elevator.
Germaine grabbed Dorothy’s bag and her own, following closely from behind. She comforted her, “Dory, don’t worry too much. With Juelz in the hospital, Belle will definitely be fine.”
“Yes, you’re right. Belle will be fine. She has to be.”
She stood in the elevator, and tried to take deep breaths to keep herself calm. She kept comforting herself.
After leaving the company, Dorothy walked forwards quickly past the gates, wanting to hail a taxi.
Germaine felt extremely upset to see her in such a daze. She quickly went to Dorothy’s side and shouted, “Dory, don’t panic. Get in the car first.”
“Germaine, thank you so much. Please drive faster! I want to see Belle sooner. Ever since she was a child, she has never left me. If I don’t accompany her now, she will be afraid and will cry…”
“Alright, alright. I’ll drive the car faster than a plane can fly.”
Germaine understood how Dorothy felt quite well. She stepped on the gas till the very end, driving extremely fast.
They arrived at the hospital and rushed towards the emergency room. Dorothy grabbed Juelz’s arms and asked anxiously, “H-how is Belle?”
