Chapter 122 Have You Ever Loved Me?

Book:My Husband Hates Me Published:2024-5-1

Dorothy was in the women’s prison. Taking the fact that she was pregnant into consideration, Mr. Worley had long arranged plans for her. He specifically assigned her simple tasks to do to pass the time.
There was an hour break between ten o’clock in the morning to three o’clock in the afternoon. Dorothy’s job was to make hand-made children’s dolls.
There was no limit to how many dolls she had to make, as long as she did not stop working.
The queen bee in the prison held malicious intentions towards the young and beautiful Dorothy. On her first day in prison, she was stopped halfway on her way to lunch.
The woman stretched her hand out and asked Dorothy to pay her protection fees. If she did not give it to her, she would beat Dorothy up.
Although Dorothy had never encountered such a thing, she had been living in the Fisher family for over twenty years, and it was way worse than prison. She had long learned to be fearless upon facing such situations.
She raised her head and looked around. Then she stared at the tall and strong inmates around her. She said calmly, “What do you want? I don’t have money. Even if you want money, I won’t give it to you! Don’t mess around, or I’ll call the prison guards.”
“What the f*ck?! You’re just a newcomer. Not only are you disobedient, you even want to call the prison guards? Did I hear that right?”
One of the leaders who had an ugly scar on her face, pointed at Dorothy’s face and laughed, “Ladies, come on, beat her to death. After all, the Fisher family has ordered us to beat this b*tch to her senses. Let’s make her know what the consequences will be when she doesn’t obey us.”
As she said that, a terrifying slap struck Dorothy’s face.
Aside from Rosalie, Linda, and Caleb of the Fisher family, was there anyone else who could not wait to see her get into trouble?
She was in prison. Was Rosalie still not intending to let her go?
Dorothy was so enraged that her entire body was trembling and her heart went cold. However, since she was pregnant, her reactions were slower, and it was too late for her to dodge the slap. She could only watch as the whistling slap neared her face, and she felt the wind that came with it. It was indeed going to be a fierce slap.
Suddenly, a man’s strong arm suddenly blocked the attack for Dorothy. The toned arm which was particularly long and had beautiful joints, grabbed and pinched the wrist of the woman between the joint of his elbow, like a pair of iron pincers. The strong woman screamed like a pig being slaughtered despite him using only around 60 percent of his strength.
Dorothy did not feel the pain she was expecting. Shocked, she turned around and saw an all too familiar yet foreign man in front of her. He was well dressed, refined, and elegant. His deep, black eyes calmly stared back at her.
At that moment, Dorothy could not describe the complex feelings in her heart. All the joy, sadness, and depressing feelings in her heart were all mixed together. All kinds of emotions surged in her heart and her eyes reddened in an instant.
It seemed like she would always meet him at her most embarrassing moments. As for him, he was always graceful and well-dressed. The two of them always had a stark contrast, as if there was a stretch of sea and mountains between them.
The strong woman, who had been defeated by the suddenly appearing Credence, stretched her other hand out and pointed at Dorothy. Her eyes were red as she screamed, “F*ck, let go of me. Who the f*ck are you? Why are you helping that b*tch?”
The woman had called Dorothy a b*tch, completely angering Credence who had just arrived in the nick of time.
A cold glint flashed in his eyes. He raised his long legs indifferently. Dorothy saw that although the strong woman had only been kicked in the knee once, she was already screaming horrifyingly. She knelt to the ground and was dragged by him ruthlessly to Dorothy’s feet in an instant, falling down.
Jonathan’s reactions were fast, too. He quickly took his phone out and called the warden, who was a distant cousin of his. Thanks to the Stanton family’s wealth and power, they had gotten rid of the previous warden, and his cousin had gotten the position of being a leader.
After receiving Jonathan’s call, the new warden rushed to the place of the incident. Not only did he see Jonathan, but also the person in charge of the Scott Group, Credence, who was rumored to be a cruel and ruthless person. He was so shocked that his face was covered with cold sweat.
“Mr. Scott, Mr. Stanton, I will deal with this matter right away. I promise I will give you a satisfying answer.”
The warden smiled while he took care of the situation, and soon, he understood the course of the matter. He ordered the prison guards to transfer the strong and stout woman and the bullies around Dorothy to the prison with the worst environment. Their work would be to mine, which was the most difficult labor, and they had to do it from morning to evening every day.
How dare they provoke Credence’s wife, oh no, ex-wife? They were courting death!
In Talco City, everyone knew that Credence was well-known for his protectiveness.
His people, even the pets he used to keep, could never be bullied. He would never allow it to happen.
Everything happened so fast that Dorothy could not regain her composure for a long time. When she returned to her single prison cell, she noticed that it was stuffed with a well-recognizable nutritional food set that had been prepared by Jonathan. After smelling the aroma, she came to her senses, and her throat choked on a sob. She lowered her head and gently uttered two words, “Thank you.”
Jonathan smiled, “Are you thanking me or someone else?”
Upon hearing him, Dorothy remained silent for a while and did not say anything else.
She did not know why Credence had suddenly come to the prison to look for her. Therefore, she could only keep her silence to not make things worse.
He had seen all her vulnerable and embarrassing moments since a long time ago. Being bullied by a female prisoner in public was nothing.
If she never spoke, then Credence would not have anything to say as well.
As he had used too much strength just now, the wound on Credence’s abdomen had split open and was bleeding. He had to concentrate all his attention on suppressing the pain and to slow down his breathing in order to prevent Dorothy from finding out about his wound. He had to maintain his image of being indestructible.
Jonathan stood behind Credence and noticed the hand behind his back was clenched into a fist. His knuckles bulged, and he realized that Credence’s wounds must have split open. He grew anxious and angry. Just as he was about to spill everything out, he suddenly noticed a cold gaze directed at him. He was so scared that he started shivering.
Credence was warning him not to talk nonsense.
Jonathan raised his hand and touched the cold sweat on his forehead. His face was particularly exasperated. He looked back at Credence, whose eyes were full of emotions.
“Oh Credence, will it kill you to just tell the truth that you are reluctant to leave Dorothy?” he thought to himself.
“Dorothy is not some parasite living in your body anyways. How could she understand you if you don’t tell her anything?”
Credence was a man of few words, and it was difficult for him to express his love in words. How annoying!
No matter how anxious Jonathan was, Credence still glared at him with a warning look calmly. He was signaling Jonathan to get out if he had nothing to do, and to not worry about him as well.
Jonathan was helpless. He could only pick up the broken pieces of his heart and walk out of the prison room.
In the narrow space, only Dorothy and Credence remained. No matter how far away she was, she could still smell his clear and cold breaths. At that moment, Dorothy held her breath and tried to stop inhaling the scent in.
She lowered her head, but she could clearly feel him approaching her. He got closer and closer to her.
Credence’s deep and magnetic voice entered her ear immediately.
She heard him say, “Can we still go back to the way we used to be?”
His charming voice was a little hoarse and dim. It was so dim that she could not bear to listen to it. She felt as if her heart was going to shatter if she heard anything more.
Tears streamed down Dorothy’s face immediately, and she could not stop crying.
She did not answer him in time. After she recovered from her choking, she breathed a sigh of relief. Then, she raised her head and looked at him with her teary yet bright eyes, asking him in return, “Credence, have you ever loved me?”
