Chapter 117 Utter Defeat

Book:My Husband Hates Me Published:2024-5-1

Dorothy stared at the man who had carved a permanent spot in the bottom of her heart. Her soft, fair fingers tightly grabbed the hems of her clothes on both sides, and her fingers started to tremble slowly.
There was no doubt that he was here for Rosalie!
She had told herself to not be sad anymore. She should not be sad for a man who did not love her. However, her broken heart was still in pain. She felt a sour feeling and she was still devastated.
Dorothy turned her head away stiffly, and no longer looked at Credence, who was slowly walking in. However, her ears could not help but listen to him speak.
His charming and deep voice was so recognizable that there was no need for her to single it out.
Ivana reached her hand out and made a polite gesture to welcome Credence to the VIP seat, “Mr. Scott, this way.”
He nodded slightly, “Alright.”
His deep eyes swept over Dorothy. He noticed that she had deliberately turned her head away upon seeing him enter. His face sank, but he did not stop at all. He walked straight to the VIP seat and sat down gracefully.
Dorothy did not look at Credence, but she could feel him sitting right behind her. His gaze was sharp and burning, like a haunting shadow. It was on her and would not go away.
Why was he not staring at Rosalie? Why was he looking at her like that?
Dorothy felt a little angry and embarrassed. She had a feeling that he was doing so on purpose. He was deliberately staring at her, which made her feel uneasy, and her heart was beating rapidly.
Then, she heard Rosalie’s gentle voice, “Credence, you’re here. Thank you for coming to keep me company.”
Rosalie’s voice had always been sweet. When she deliberately made it cuter, it was as if she had sugar-coated her mouth and added honey to it, which was absolutely sickening.
Dorothy frowned, a bitter smile on her face. A thin layer of sourness could be seen on her face.
Perhaps, Credence liked coy women like Rosalie. Perhaps, that was why she had been unable to obtain his love even after four years of loving him. The only thing she got from her love was a miscarriage and a divorce.
Dorothy waited for a while, but Credence did not reply to Rosalie. She could not help but glance behind her from the corner of her eye.
He was dressed in formal attire, a black suit with a white shirt and a black tie. There was a sense of alienation and extravagance of a successful man who had been in a high position for a long, long time emanating from him.
He sat tall and upright as he crossed his legs. His handsome face was cold as he sat on the chair, and his eyes were laced with frigidity. He completely ignored Rosalie and had no intentions of responding to her. It was as if he had never met Rosalie.
Dorothy was thoroughly taken aback for a moment.
What on earth had happened during her time indetention? Why was Credence treating Rosalie so coldly?
After coming to her senses, Dorothy mocked herself with a sneer. She had been worrying too much. No matter what had happened between Credence and Rosalie, it had nothing to do with her.
On the other end, Rosalie had not expected Credence to ignore her like that. He had treated her like a stranger. She was so furious that she gritted her teeth.
She turned around, staring into Dorothy’s calm eyes, and there was a look of mockery on her face. She widened her eyes in anger and said coldly in a low voice, “Dorothy, after the judge finds you guilty, you will go to jail. If you don’t want to sit in prison for the rest of your life, you’d better show me a good attitude now.”
Ever since Credence had come in, Rosalie’s left eyelid had been twitching endlessly as she was panicking and anxious.
She had an incredibly bad feeling, as if something horrible was going to happen, and the incident would be targeting her.
However, she could not tell what horrible incident would happen.
Rosalie still dared threaten her in front of so many lawyers and judges, Dorothy did not know whether she should praise Rosalie for being brave or for being an idiot.
Did she think she could do everything she wanted to do just because she had Credence’s support?
However, from the scene she saw just now, it seemed that Credence had no intentions of backing her up!
Just as Dorothy was deep in thought, the judge began the hearing.
First, Rosalie’s lawyers showed the original video and evidence of the incident, as well as the confessions from the many witnesses. Everything was piled together neatly, and they were as thick as a dictionary.
After all the evidence was handed over to the judge, the lawyer naturally made a conclusion, “As far as I know, the suspect has always been jealous of my client. Influenced by her crazy jealousy, it’s very likely that she had sneaked into my client’s ward to push her down from the balcony after my client had been in the hospital due to her poor health.”
Rosalie narrowed her cold eyes and nodded in agreement with the lawyer’s words, “That’s right. Dorothy has always been jealous of Credence’s love for me. She has been wanting to kill me for a very long time now.”
From the corner of her eye, Dorothy caught a glimpse of Rosalie’s sinister and smug smile. Her heart sank.
With her words, it meant that Rosalie wanted her to rot in prison.
It seemed that Rosalie detested her a lot more than she had ever imagined!
The next second, Dorothy heard Juelz shouting angrily from the spectator seat, “F*ck you, Rosalie. You’re simply the most disgusting and vicious woman I have ever seen. Dory is so kind that she would even hesitate to step on an ant. Yet, you said that she had been jealous and she hated you so much that she even wanted to kill you? How is that possible?”
“You are not as beautiful as Dory and your figure is not as good as hers. Your heart is not as filled with kindness as hers either. What’s there for her to be jealous of?”
Hearing that, everyone else in the audience burst into laughter.
Anyone with eyes could make a comparison. Compared to the quiet and elegant Dorothy, Rosalie was like the weed growing under a lily.
She was just an insignificant weed. What was the point of Dorothy being jealous of her when Dorothy herself was such a beautiful flower?
Even Credence could not help but nod his head lightly as he agreed with Juelz’s point of view.
Rosalie’s heart ached as she caught a glimpse of Credence’s nod. Her sharp fingernails dug into the skin of the back of her hand, causing her to feel nothing but pain from the bleeding spot.
Kingston laughed too. He swiftly stood up and said clearly, “Miss Fisher, just like what Mr. Juelz has said, why would Dorothy be jealous of you? She used to be Mr. Scott’s wife and she could have everything she wanted! However, you, on the other hand, used your relationship as Dorothy’s younger sister to covet Mr. Scott in order to replace her position as his wife. What I’ve said is all true.”
As he spoke, he handed over a stack of documents over to the judge. He said slowly, “Dorothy had appeared in Rosalie’s ward because Rosalie had called her and invited her to a private room in a bar to talk about some things. After going, Dorothy suddenly fainted for no reason. When she woke up, she was lying on the floor of Rosalie’s ward.”
“Think about it. If Dorothy wanted to kill Rosalie, how would she suddenly faint? When she woke up from fainting, how could she even think about killing her? All this doesn’t conform to logic at all.”
Kington’s harsh words were reasonable and credible. The judges on the high platform nodded their heads and affirmed his words.
When Rosalie realized that something was wrong, she got anxious. She said, “No, that’s not it. Dorothy is just jealous that I’m our parent’s biological daughter, and that she’s just an abandoned orphan from an orphanage. She is just jealous that I have Credence’s love. She is jealous that I have both a real family and Credence’s love…”
At that moment, Rosalie heard Linda’s shrill screams, “No, don’t! Stop it! Stop showing it!”
Rosalie’s heart skipped a beat. She turned her head and looked in Linda’s direction, only to realize that there was a wide screen on both sides of the court. The video of her being humiliated by those few hooligans in the private room was playing on the screens!
Suddenly, Rosalie stared at Credence and smiled ruefully.
She had lost! She had been utterly defeated!
