At the unlatched door across the room, a man stood in the corridor outside. He held Rosalie’s medical report in one hand, and placed his other hand in the pocket of his suit gracefully. He looked at Dorothy silently as she laid on the bed.
He smiled as he watched her fingers intertwined with Juelz’s.
He watched as she met Juelz’s gaze, her eyes filled with passionate love. Her face was flushed red.
Credence watched the both of them in silence, his face cold.
He had been busy looking around for all kinds of evidence to prove that she had been framed by Rosalie, but here she was, lying on the bed with another man as they whispered to each other-
So what if he had ordered Benjamin to send her the divorce certificate?
If she really loved him that much, how could she have accepted Juelz in such a short time?
Or perhaps, their love had been nothing special at all.
He shifted his cold gaze from Dorothy and Juelz’s hands towards her bulging abdomen that could not be hidden. His pupils contracted coldly, but he remained expressionless.
As Credence entered the ward, a cold aura emanated from him. He stood before Dorothy, his gaze cold as he asked, “Do you have any objections or thoughts about the divorce?”
“Objections? Thoughts?”
For a moment, Dorothy was a little stunned. As she was in a daze, she noticed that her right hand was still tightly holding Juelz’s hand. She panicked, and withdrew it like his hand was a hot potato.
She did not know why she was in a panic, nor did she know why she was feeling guilty. As long as she was by Credence’s side, as long as he stared at her, her heart would beat faster, and her body would feel uncomfortable, and she did not know what to do.
His facial features were as calm as a pool of water. He narrowed his eyes, and his gaze moved from her protruding abdomen to Juelz, who suddenly stood up and glared at him. A cold grin played on his lips, “Ever since she got married to me, everything she ate, everything she drank, had all been imported. Her monthly consumption is no less than 200, 000 dollars, and that doesn’t even include the jewelry for every type of occasion. With your bonus of less than one million dollars a year in the Sherman Group, do you think that you can take care of her?”
Credence glanced at Juelz, who was holding his head up high with his eyes narrowed. His movements were slow. There was a faint disdain in his eyes, and he seemed arrogant.
Dorothy was so shocked by his words that her eyelashes kept trembling. She had only stayed at home and had her meals like usual. How could she have spent two hundred thousand dollars?
What made her even more shocked was that the man in front of her suddenly felt foreign to her. She knew he was ruthless to the core, and she also knew that he was superior, noble, and cruel; but she never knew that he had such a frigid side to him.
“Credence, whether I can take care of Dory or not is none of your business.”
Juelz’s body stiffened, and his expression fell. He did not have as much money as Credence. That was something that would hurt him forever.
However, Dorothy could see the ruthlessness behind Credence’s indifferent smile. When she came back to her senses, she had already gotten up from the bed, and she stood before Credence. She met his gaze as she subconsciously blocked Juelz behind her.
“Credence, we are already divorced. We are now just strangers to each other. I have no objections to the divorce. From now on, please don’t interfere with my private affairs, alright?”
She was terrified. She was afraid that Credence would beat Juelz up so badly in his rage that he would be sent to the hospital again.
Once she finished speaking, silence engulfed the huge ward.
Credence looked down at the pale-faced woman who was still so eager to protect Juelz. He smiled.
He chuckled softly, “It seems that I have done something unnecessary.”
A few seconds later, he turned around and left without looking back.
He had suddenly come, and he left just as quickly. Dorothy was left in a daze. When she came to her senses, she realized tears were already flowing down her eyes without her knowledge.
The image of Credence’s tall and cold figure leaving her remained in her mind for a long time.
What did he mean by unnecessary? Why on earth did he come to look for her?
…
At the end of the corridor, Jonathan looked away from Dorothy’s ward, and watched as Credence strode over. He secretly glanced at his cold expression, and he hesitated. In the end, his love for gossip won over, and he took a few steps back before asking fearlessly, “Credence, your expression looks terrible. Did you see something distasteful when you entered? Has Dorothy really fallen in love with someone else?”
“From what I think, that doesn’t seem to be possible!”
“You have a good body, a handsome face, and you’re rich too. Had it been any other woman, they would know who to choose between you and Juelz.”
“There must be something wrong with Dorothy’s brain, that’s why she decided to abandon you and be with Juelz instead…”
However, Credence, who was standing a few meters away from Jonathan, seemed to not have heard a single word. A cold aura radiated from his entire body. He raised his hand and pressed the spot between his eyebrows hard, remaining silent.
After a moment of silence, Credence finally made a move. He lit up a cigarette and revealed a cold and sharp smile.
After taking a few drags, he chuckled coldly. “Does she think she can leave me just because she has Juelz? How naïve!”
As long as he did not let her go, she would never be able to leave his grasp.
The coldness that emanated from him made Jonathan suddenly quiet down, and he dared not say anything else.
…
At the corner of a corridor in the hospital’s garden, Rosalie accidentally saw Credence entering the hospital. She secretly crept up, and followed him from a distance without any hesitation.
After witnessing everything, she felt jealousy overcome her.
Even though Dorothy had admitted to being in a relationship with Juelz, not only did Credence not stop loving her, he was even reluctant to leave her. He could not forget about that shameless woman. It was so infuriating that it almost drove her mad.
She found a remote corner and gave her father a call.
In some areas, Caleb’s intelligence would be more useful than her mother, Linda’s.
On the other end of the line, Caleb sighed helplessly after hearing this, “Rosie, you’ve done everything you can, but you still can’t let Credence forget about Dorothy. What else do you want to do? If it weren’t for the fact that you’ve always wanted to marry him, I would not have played these tricks on him. As of now, his influence in Talco City is at its peak, so no one can afford to offend him.”
“These days, I am constantly living in fear. If Credence hadn’t canceled his suppression against our family, I would have thought that he had seen through our plots against him.”
“Rosie, listen to my advice. What’s yours will eventually be yours. However, if it isn’t meant to be yours, you won’t get it no matter what.”
“Enough, Dad. No wealth comes without risks. Are you really willing to let Dorothy enjoy everything that should have been mine? Well, I won’t allow it! I won’t allow for that even if I die.”
Rosalie hung up on the call. She looked towards the direction of the word Dorothy was staying in, a horrifying expression on her face.
