Chapter 104 The Medical Report

When Dorothy woke up, she found herself lying in an empty ward. There was not a single person close to her. She only felt dizzy and weak.
She seemed to have thought of something and suddenly lifted the quilt. There was a piece of dry dark red spot on the dark blue sheets, and it made her heart sink.
The hospital’s disinfectant had a strong pungent smell, which filled her every nerve. Her face was pale and her heart was thumping wildly.
She quickly reached her hand out to touch her slightly protruding abdomen. Her entire body trembled slightly.
Her baby… She must not let anything happen to her baby!
Shortly after she woke up, a doctor came to the ward. The doctor looked at her and carefully told her, “You fainted due to excessive mourning. After we examined you, we found out that you have a slight onset of depression. Fortunately, the baby in your belly is safe for the time being.”
“However, you must remember to be more careful in the future. Do not keep your unhappy thoughts to yourself. You must maintain a good mood at all times. Also, you have to remember that you have to rest on a bed for a month.”
Dorothy could not explain herself. She could only nod her head. She heaved a sigh of relief. Fortunately, her child was still alive…
Once she rested, she did so in the hospital for four consecutive days.
Occasionally, Ivana would come over to visit her. Ivana could tell that she seemed to have suffered a serious blow. Dorothy looked bored and upset. She rarely spoke at all, and she only ever stared at the white ceiling.
Ivana was a woman too, so she sympathized with Dorothy’s suffering. She could not bear to send her back to the detention room, so she asked the doctor to give her a severe sick leave. With that, Dorothy could stay in the hospital for twenty days.
During this period, for some unknown reason, Credence’s company stopped all attacks against Caleb’s company, and he started to invest in them again. What was even more shocking was that Credence announced that he had ended his four-year marriage, and that he was single again.
Dorothy lied to herself and told herself that he must have been under pressure from his shareholders. She thought he was just trying to stabilize the Scott Group’s stock prices, which was why he had publicly announced the news of their divorce.
However, when she heard the news with her own ears, her heart, which she had thought was completely barren, ached badly.
It was if her heart had been stabbed by a knife.
She was in so much pain that she wanted to die at once.
Juelz pushed the door open and entered. His eyes fell on Dorothy, who was leaning on the headboard of the hospital bed with her face pale and eyes glazed over. He realized that the news of her divorce with Credence was true. He felt resentful on her behalf, but he was also happy that he could pursue her properly.
“Dory, take a look. Guess what I’ve brought for you this time?”
Dorothy snapped out of her daze and saw Juelz standing in front of her in good condition. He had a gentle smile on his still handsome face. Her heart warmed, and she asked with a smile, “What is it?”
“It’s your favorite soup from Wulnova Restaurant. I lined up there early in the morning and waited for almost two hours. Who knew that our customers were limited to two orders only. We couldn’t buy more even if we wanted to. I was furious.”
“Dory, I’ve been holding it in my arms, so it’s still hot. Eat it while it’s hot. Don’t let your baby stay hungry.”
Juelz smiled. He took out the warm steamed stuffed bun from the thermos and stuffed it into Dorothy’s mouth.
Dorothy took it in her hand and took an elegant bite. She could feel the fragrant smell enter her mouth, and the taste of it really was delicious.
After finishing it quickly, she smiled and looked up at the man who was grinning happily, “Juelz, thank you.”
“Do you see it now? You’re the only one that matters to me!” Juelz happily walked up to her. “How are you going to thank me? Dory, I wouldn’t mind you marrying me.”
Dorothy was so amused that she laughed out loud. She sighed, “Juelz, how great would it be if you were the one who had saved me at my most desperate moment ten years ago!”
If that was the case, she would never have had any interactions or conflicts with Credence. Perhaps she could have lived a happier life.
Her sigh made Juelz feel sad, and even more devastated.
During these past few days, he would come over whenever he had time. What he saw most of the time was her lying quietly on the bed. She did not say anything, nor did she want to. She always had a lot on her mind.
All her happiness was faked, and it was all just for him to feel more at ease.
“Have you and Credence really divorced? If you have, it’s a good thing. At least he won’t break your heart for Rosalie’s sake anymore.”
Juelz sighed and reached out to hold Dorothy’s thin and weak wrist.
She was so thin. How could Credence be so cruel as to hurt her so badly?!

On the other side of the wall, a tall man in a black shirt and a pair of black trousers stood by the window, facing the breeze. He listened to the vague conversation between Dorothy and Juelz from the ward next door. Their dialogue was mixed with a woman’s sweet laughter. He frowned and irritably lit a cigarette.
The more irritated he was, the more expressionless his facial features got. He was so indifferent that he seemed to be devoid of emotion.
Jonathan pushed the door open and entered. When he smelled the strong smell of smoke, he subconsciously waved his hand under his nose to clear the smoke, but he still could not help but choke and cough.
“Ahem… Credence, do you want me to choke to death so you can inherit my wealth?”
Credence ignored Jonathan’s jokes. He flicked the ash off his cigarette with his slender fingers and turned to look at Jonathan with a pair of eyes that were as cold as ice. He asked, “How’s the investigation?”
He was asking about the investigation on whether Rosalie was still a virgin or not.
Jonathan waved the medical report in his hand and sneered, “Oh, Rosalie, she’s really something. The report says that she is still a virgin! F*ck, those thugs never even touched her at all, neither did they take advantage of her. Either they were impotent or it was all just an act. However, the chances of all those thugs being impotent is less than winning the jackpot in a lottery.”
“Analyzing all the suspicious parts of this, Credence, that woman is a two-faced b*tch. She’s risking her life to put on acts. Humph, how terrible!”
The thugs had never taken advantage of her!
Rosalie was still a virgin!
Credence took the report from Jonathan’s hand. He stared coldly at the conclusion on the last page, and his eyes darkened.
All of a sudden, Dorothy’s sad and desperate eyes circled back into his mind.
She had said, “Credence, why don’t you trust me? Why would you believe an outsider like Rosalie rather than your own wife?”
“Credence, please, let me go! This child is not a b*stard. It’s our own child…”
“Credence, can you please believe me? I’m begging you, please believe me!”

It turned out that ever since their marriage, which he had thought was a scheme she had set up, Dorothy had always been the one who had been hurt the worst.
Credence clenched the report in his hand tightly. He licked his thin lips with difficulty, and his face was pale and ashen. “All these years, my father falling and becoming comatose might not have been Dorothy’s fault.”
“Credence, mistakes will always be made. It’s just a matter of how big the mistakes are and how many mistakes are made.” Jonathan waved his hand indifferently. “She’s in the ward next door. Since you’ve made a mistake, go and apologize to her, that’s it. It’s so easy.”
Credence turned his back to Jonathan. His body was stiff, and from his expressions, it seemed like he was on the verge of breaking down.
He sneered coldly and angrily, “It’s too late. She’s pregnant with another man’s child.”
What the hell?
Dorothy had cheated on Credence?
“Is that true?”
Jonathan stared blankly at the man that was emanating a cold aura in front of him, feeling that he was not smart enough for this.
“It has to be true. This time, it’s really over between us.”
Credence shut his eyes. His narrow eyes turned as hollow as dead ashes. He clenched his fists and laughed in a low voice. His cold laughter made Jonathan shiver all over.
The next second, Credence laughed coldly and mocked himself, “Jonathan, do you know? The moment she wanted nothing more than to escape from me, I suddenly understood how important she was to me. I-I can’t leave her anymore.”
“I don’t want her to be with another man, and I don’t want her to be pregnant with another man’s child. I want her. I want to grow old with her. Don’t you think I’m such a laughingstock?” he murmured.
His deep eyes were bloodshot with immense pain.
