Chapter 102 Resentment

Book:My Husband Hates Me Published:2024-5-1

In the detention room with limited space.
After Dorothy had attacked Rosalie, she was in a good mood. She was cleaning herself in the bathroom. She brushed her teeth with one hand and placed her hand on her belly as she was now four-months pregnant. She smiled and hummed a gentle lullaby.
She had endured her resentment for so many years, and to let it all out like a surging wave in one night felt awesome. It was an awesome feeling, and it tasted better than delicious food.
She remembered that every time Rosalie suffered a little grievance, she would act weak and complain to Credence about it. Credence would definitely come and see her in order to seek justice for Rosalie. He would either be here by night or the next day.
That man had been her husband for four years, yet he took care of Rosalie more attentively than he ever did for her.
The oval mirror above the basin clearly reflected Dorothy’s pale little face.
Dorothy stared at her eyes in the mirror. They looked as calm as still water, not showing how she felt inside.
Over the years, she should have gotten used to Credence’s unconditional affection for Rosalie, but whenever she remembered that she, as his wife, was treated worse than other women, she still could not help but grieve.
If only Credence had given her a little more warmth and trust, then she would not have said that the child in her womb was Juelz’s.
In the end, it was because Credence had disappointed her too much, too much so that her heart was completely barren of hope.
Outside, the iron door made a creaking sound, interrupting Dorothy’s sad thoughts.
She raised her head to look at herself in the mirror. Only then did she realize that her face was drenched in tears. Tears started to fall down her face without her noticing.
It was so late, so it had to be Credence visiting.
He had not appeared in front of her for nearly one month, but for Rosalie’s sake, he was willing to come here in the middle of the night. He must have felt sad for Rosalie.
Dorothy calmed herself down and picked up a clean towel to wipe away the tears on her face. Then, she turned around and walked out calmly.
When she realized that the handsome man standing at the door was not Credence but Benjamin, Dorothy was somewhat disappointed. She quietly walked toward Benjamin and asked politely, “It’s so late already. Is there anything you need to talk to me about, Mr. Scott?”
Benjamin looked at the calm and elegant Dorothy. Although she was living in a bad environment, she still looked so beautiful and charming. He suddenly had an impulse to not take out the divorce certificate and give it to her.
“Mrs. Scott, it’s nothing important. It was Mr. Scott who asked me to visit you.”
Dorothy glanced at the small alarm clock placed beside her bed. It was almost ten-forty at night. Why would Credence specially request Benjamin to come see her in the police station at this hour?
Moreover, when he said that he was visiting, she had noticed a long time ago that Benjamin had come empty-handed, not bringing anything.
The lack of manners was so unlike the slick assistant that she knew.
Dorothy smiled, but she did not expose him. She said softly, “Benjamin, it is almost time for me to sleep. If you have anything important to say, just say it.”
When Benjamin heard this, he understood that Dorothy must have seen through his excuse. In his heart, he admired her sharpness, but he also felt ashamed of what he was going to do next.
To him, it felt like he was bullying the weak woman along with Mr. Scott.
Benjamin opened the briefcase and took out a divorce certificate from it. He handed it over to her with his hands, looking uneasy. He explained, “Mrs. Scott, the reason I am here today is to pass this to you. Mr. Scott wants me to hand it over to you.”
Dorothy lowered his eyes and looked at the divorce certificate in Benjamin’s hands. She suddenly felt a sharp pain in her heart.
Although she had long signed the divorce agreement and heard from the news that he was going to marry Rosalie, those harsh words and dazzling pictures were nothing compared to the huge shock and sorrow the divorce certificate in front of her brought upon her!
She slowly reached out and received the certificate calmly. She gripped it tightly, and her soft and tender palm turned red from the force.
She did not care about it, nor did she feel pain.
She had just beaten Rosalie up., yet Credence wanted to protect his beloved woman so badly that he could not wait to use the divorce certificate to cruelly throw her away?
“Got it! I heard that he’s going to be married to Rosalie this year. Help me… help me congratulate him and wish him happiness. He must be happy with Rosalie, and I hope they continue to harm each other!”
In the end, she could not help but resent them from the bottom of her heart. She even spat out her wishes that they would continue to harm each other.
Dorothy raised her hands. She slowly covered her pale lips and smiled softly.
She tried to hide the tears of pain in front of Benjamin. She moved her feet and took a few steps back. She supported herself with the chair and squatted down, little by little. Her other hand slowly moved down from her lips.
Her weak and slender fingers were trembling. She slowly moved it to her heart and she pressed it firmly. She was in a daze, and was quiet and expressionless.
Seeing how dazed she was, Benjamin felt a little uncomfortable. He quickly frowned and asked in surprise, “Mrs. Scott, who told you that Mr. Scott will marry Rosalie this year? I am in charge of Mr. Scott’s schedules. To my knowledge, there aren’t any plans for marriage for the next three years, let alone this year.”
That was just a rumor without evidence. It was just pure nonsense.
The person who would benefit most from that rumor had to be the one who spread it, and it was obvious who that person was.
“Mr. Scott, there is no need for you to help Credence hide anything.”
Dorothy suppressed the bitterness in his heart. She took a deep breath and stood up. Her pale face slowly returned to normal, “I saw the news from a television broadcast a few days ago. You can find it on the Internet.”
Benjamin’s first reaction was, “Oh sh*t, Mr. Scott must have been set up by Rosalie again.”
If he remembered correctly, Mr. Scott had attended an important banquet a few days prior. In order to secretly investigate the matter and let it stay under the radar, he deliberately brought Rosalie with him.
Unexpectedly, Rosalie had secretly told the reporters to spread false news of her marrying Mr. Scott behind his back. Her schemes really were deep and terrible.
Benjamin could not help but try to clear Credence’s name, so he said quickly, “Mrs. Scott, don’t listen to the rumors. The person in Mr. Scott’s heart is not your sister, it is actually…”
“That’s enough. You don’t have to explain on Credence’s behalf. Who he likes or loves has nothing to do with me anymore.”
Dorothy lowered her head. She stared at the divorce certificate in her hand and said with a bitter smile, “If we meet by chance in the future, don’t call me Mrs. Scott anymore. After all, we have divorced. It’s not appropriate.”
After saying those words, Dorothy suddenly wanted to cry. The bitter feelings she felt grew crazily in her heart like weeds.
Ten years! She had loved Credence secretly for ten years.
However, in the end, what she got from that relationship was a broken heart and a thin divorce certificate.
Even so, she still could not stop loving him.
When she heard he was going to marry another woman, her heart ached immensely.
Did falling in love with a man who did not love her back make Rosalie do such detestable things to the extreme?
When Benjamin saw how hard she was trying to hold her tears in, he felt somewhat uncomfortable too. He said, “It’s getting late, so I’d better go.” After that, he turned around and left in a hurry.

Benjamin returned to the car. Credence was still awake even after waiting for half an hour. He asked, “What was her reaction after seeing the divorce certificate?”
Throughout the night, Credence’s heartbeat had lost its normal rhythm. He had a vague feeling that something was wrong, but he could not tell what it was.
