Dorothy was puzzled. Staying rooted to the spot, she followed Juelz’s gaze.
Credence, who was standing less than a meter away from her, was firmly pressing the part of her arm where the blood was transfused. His gaze was as cold as ice when he pulled out his cigarette from his mouth with another hand.
Only then did Dorothy notice that her entire body was embraced by Juelz intimately. What’s worse, her lips were coincidentally stuck to Juelz’s chin. From the angle where Credence was standing, it looked as if she was kissing Juelz gently…
Knowing that Credence had misunderstood her, Dorothy’s heart raced. She instinctively pushed Juelz away. When she looked up and met Credence’s eyes, she showed him an awkward smile.
“There… there is nothing going on between Juelz and me. Please don’t get the wrong idea.”
She could not fathom why she was explaining it to Credence. She just did it subconsciously.
Perhaps, she thought that if she did not make things clear, she would really become the kind of sl*tty woman that Credence hated the most. Then, she would lose her position in Credence’s heart completely.
Everything happened in a flash!
Before Dorothy could come to her senses, Juelz was kicked out of the door by Credence like a kite on a broken string. Credence gave her a cold glance before he turned around and walked slowly toward Juelz, who was lying in the corridor.
Credence narrowed his eyes and looked down at Juelz expressionlessly. “You should have told me earlier that you want to die. I would have granted your wish immediately! I believe that for the sake of our upcoming one-billion-dollar collaboration, your family won’t even say a word if I kill you!”
Credence had always been a decisive man. At that moment, he emanated a frightening and murderous aura. It was as though the busy hospital corridor had turned into an ice house.
Juelz spat out a mouthful of blood. “Come on! If you have the balls, just kill me right now! Otherwise, I will fight with you to the end of my life!”
Credence glanced indifferently at Juelz, who was weak in combat. Not only did he say nothing, but he also did not frown. There was not a trace of anger on his face.
However, Dorothy could feel anger stirring within him. She had a premonition that a ‘storm’ was going to happen.
At that moment, Credence looked just like a Grim Reaper. Dorothy feared that he would really kill Juelz. Therefore, she lifted her hand which was still connected to the blood transfusion tube, and rushed over to Credence’s side. In a panic, she said to him, “Let Juelz go! This has nothing to do with him.”
However, her words seemed to have provoked Credence. He walked up to her slowly. Then, he fixed his eyes on her pale, worried face for what seemed like an eternity.
There was complete silence.
Until…
He suddenly grasped her lower jaw with his slender fingers. His force was so strong that Dorothy grimaced in pain.
He couldn’t believe that although Dorothy was trembling in fear, she was still adamant on protecting Juelz. What was even more ludicrous was, she was still his legal wife…
Credence smiled faintly.
“Dorothy, I will not let you go. I will not divorce you as well. I’d make sure that you suffer for the rest of your life!”
Ten minutes later, Credence left resolutely with Dorothy’s blood bag.
…
Dorothy pressed on the needle insertion site with a medical cotton swab. Subconsciously, she chased after Credence. However, his tall figure had already disappeared at the end of the corridor without a trace.
She supported herself with the white wall. Staring at the downward stairs, she let out a helpless sigh.
The feeling of emptiness in her heart overpowered the despair and hopelessness she had for him.
She remembered that on their wedding night, he had clearly recited three marriage rules to her. One of the rules was that she was firmly prohibited from implicating herself with other men.
But that day, not only Credence had misunderstood her kissing Juelz, but she also tried to protect Juelz in front of him. Needless to say, all of these infuriated Credence, which led him to talk tough.
Recalling what had just happened, Dorothy felt as if her heart had been stabbed by a dagger.
She could not understand why Credence refused to let her go despite not loving her.
What was the point of torturing each other like that?
“Hiss!” Juelz grimaced in pain.
Supporting his back with both of his hands, he limped toward Dorothy. He couldn’t be bothered by his own pain, and asked with concern, “Dory, are you okay? Does your wound still hurt? Do you feel any discomfort? Let me know if you don’t feel well. I will hold Credence responsible at the cost of my life!”
She had just undergone a blood transfusion. How could she not feel unwell?
However, Dorothy could not drag Juelz into this mess anymore. After all, it was a matter between her, Credence and Rosalie.
She was scared that Credence would really kill Juelz over the slightest conflict!
She knew better than anyone else that there was ferocity hidden in Credence deep down.
“I’m fine.”
Dorothy turned around and gave Juelz a soft and gentle smile. “Thank you for everything today, Juelz. I think it’d be better if you don’t come and see me for the time being. If I need your help, I will give you a call, alright?”
Her voice was as gentle as ever. However, her tone was irrefutable.
Juelz had come to know Dorothy when she had coincidentally saved his life. They had known each other for almost ten years. Therefore, Juelz knew her very well. She was gentle but resolute. Once she made up her mind, there would be no room for any changes.
Although he felt sorry for her that she had to endure all the suffering because of her deep love for Credence, he did not know what to say at that moment. He could only rub his face, concealing his disappointment and sadness.
There was a concerned look on his face as he said, “Dory, Credence is an insane and arrogant lunatic. Promise me to protect yourself well when I’m not by your side. Call me right away if anything happens, okay? I’m available 24/7.”
“Alright, I will. Thank you! There’s a scratch on your chin. Remember to get it treated by a doctor. I’m leaving first.”
After saying goodbye to Juelz, Dorothy dragged her feet toward the elevator and went down to the operating room.
Credence must have rushed to the operating room to send her blood to Rosalie.
If she went there, she would definitely be able to find him!
…
Outside the operating room.
Jonathan’s gaze was fixed on Credence. To be exact, he was staring at the blood bag in Credence’s hand.
After hesitating for a moment, Jonathan finally opened his mouth. “Credence, is that… is that Dorothy’s blood?”
Credence’s face was pale from running hastily to the operating room. He answered with a cold snort.
His intimidating aura startled Jonathan to the point that he was thinking of keeping his mouth shut.
However, his conscience as a doctor got the better of him. “Dorothy has just suffered from a miscarriage a few days ago. Within such a short period, you forced her to donate such a big bag of blood to Rosalie. I’m afraid that it would cause her serious sequelae.”
“Such as?” Credence sneered.
“Infertility.”
After that, silence hung in the air.
Moments later, Credence finally reacted. He spoke slowly and clearly with his deep and hoarse voice.
“If she can never give birth to a child again, I would not blame her.”
Did he mean that he was still willing to be with Dorothy? Even if Dorothy was infertile, he would not divorce her and remarry?
As if he had finally understood something, Jonathan suddenly looked up and widened his eyes in shock!
Jonathan could see that Credence’s fingers were clutching the blood bag in his hand tightly. If he exerted just a bit more strength, the blood bag would burst.
That was the blood bag needed to save Rosalie’s life! Why did Credence seem to be unperturbed?
In a dark corner, Linda witnessed the entire scene. She quickly turned toward the other direction and left silently. When she arrived at the corridor of the first floor, she took out her mobile phone and made a phone call with a gloomy face.
