“Natasha, we have lost everything, all because of your seductive spirit. Just so you know, Ruby is still married to Mr. Dmitry,” Lewis said.
Natasha sat upright and spoke, “why are you people here? I’m sure you guys aren’t here to check up on me.”
Lewis threw a hot slap across her face, “if you say one more word, I’ll smash your head.”
Natasha held her cheek in shock, she stood in anger, “I won’t have you come here to slap me.” Natasha almost pushed the man away.
Lewis was about to slap her again when Zara quickly held his hand, “honey, please don’t hurt her anymore. She has already gone through a lot from the hands of her kidnappers.”
“Leave my ward!” Natasha commanded loudly.
“Big sister, don’t be rude to father. We came here cause we care for you,” Ruby says.
The door opened and everyone turned to see who had walked in, seeing Dmitry, Zara, Ruby and Lewis trembled.
Thought Dmitry had gone? Natasha could not help but wonder why he had come back. Then he suddenly saw someone came after Dmitry, that was Titiana. Natasha then guessed that Titiana had probably asked Dmitry to bring her here.
Titiana ran to Natasha and hugged her, although she couldn’t utter a word, there was affection and care on her face. Titiana suddenly noticed something on Natasha’s face, “did someone slap you?” She had asked that in sign language.
Before Natasha could respond, Titiana faced Dmitry and said, “Brother, I think someone slapped Natasha.”
She was just recovering, who would dare to slap her in this state? Dmitry wondered and took steps closer.
Zara and Lewis Ivan didn’t understand sign language, only Ruby did. Her heart skipped in fear as she watched Dmitry walk closer to Natasha.
Ruby is married to Dmitry, yes, but that was only in papers. They had not met again after the day she signed the marriage agreement. She’s only able to communicate with Yuri when she has information to pass.
Even now that Dmitry and her were meeting again, Dmitry didn’t even spare her a glance. As though he forgot that they were married.
“This mute lady is telling Dmitry that Natasha is slapped,” Ruby whispered to her mom.
Zara’s heart skipped. But she refused to tell Lewis about it.
When Dmiteu got around Natasha, she examined her cheek with his gaze. He indeed saw the shape of five fingers, fresh across her cheek. Dmitry looked at Zara and Ruby then he finally set his gaze on Lewis Ivan.
He understood that Natasha and Lewis Ivan are not cool, “did you slap her?”
Lewis Ivan’s heart shook. He, alongside all the citizens of Leaf City had heard of the horrible judgment that Dmitry placed on Huxley’s family. The fear that everyone had for Dmitry had increased and no one prayed to even cross paths with him talkless of offending him.
Lewis Ivan fell to his knees and cried, “please pardon me. I have acted foolishly out of anger.” He kowtowed before him and cried like a newborn baby. He was scared of what his fate would be. Zara wondered why Dmitry is acting in defense of Natasha. What relationship could have subsisted between them.
“Mr. Dmitry, remember me? I’m your wife.” Ruby said.
Dmitry set his cold gaze on her and she found her heart freezing. The more he looked at her the more she felt suffocated. He’s her husband, but she’s feeling as if she’s about to die with his hard stare on her. Did he not remember her? She thought fearfully.
“So what?” Dmitry asked icily.
Her lips shivered, she wanted to speak but she was engulfed in too much fear that words fail her.
“Mr. Dmitry, ever since you and my daughter got married, she had been unhappy,” Zara summoned courage to speak. Will he kill her for speaking up? She didn’t think so. “You didn’t pay her attention or even for once meet with her.”
“All our efforts to reach you had been futile. We just want you to treat her well,” Zara said.
Realizing that he had married her because he mistook her to be the miracle doctor, he said, “your daughter is deceptive.”
Then he turned to Ruby, “it’s a good thing you reminded me I’m married. Now I’ll divorce you.”
“Yuri will bring the divorce agreement to your home this evening. Sign it.” Then he set his gaze back on Lewis, who was still kowtowing on the floor.
Ruby looked at her mom with a broken heart, “mom… what should I say? What should I do?”
Zara wished she hadn’t said a word, “Mr. Dmitry, we are very okay with you not paying her attention. Let her just be Mrs. Pushkin in the book. I shouldn’t have said a word.”
Dmitry ignored her completely and said to Lewis, “I don’t care what’s going between you and your daughter. But she’s my sister’s personal doctor for the time being, no harm must come to her.”
“Scram!” At his command, Zara, Ruby and Lewis scrambled out of the ward.
Natasha exhaled. For that was all she needed. As long as Dmitry can make a stand on her, her father wouldn’t dare to come for her.
Titiana then brought out a weed from her back pocket, then she began to sniff it right there and then, cracking her neck as she did. Natasha looked at her with so much pity.
“Titiana, you didn’t take these harmful drugs in your three days at the kidnapper’s custody and you were fine, I believe you can do without this,” this was Dmitry speaking tenderly to his sister.
Titiana finished taking the very ones in her hands and said in sign language, “I can’t help it, big brother.”
Dmitry had once stopped every access she had to get the drugs but Natasha resorted to injuring herself. Dmitry was worried she may kill herself and then permitted her to keep doing her thing. But it’s so much of a burden to him watching his little sister who used to have the best of soul, never taking drugs or alcohol turn into this just because of a terrible accident that traumatized her.
“Perhaps, she will stop taking these drugs if you can grant her biggest request,” Natasha suggested to Dmitry.
“My sister lags in nothing. Just do your job as the doctor,” Dmitry wasn’t pleased with Natasha’s suggestion. “Let’s leave, Titiana.”
Titiana however didn’t take a step, she just kept staring at her brother.
“What’s the matter!” Dmitry questioned.
“You and Natasha will make a good couple. Natasha is very beautiful and kind. Big brother, why don’t you marry her?” Titiana asked.
“I’m already married.” He answered.
“But you are divorcing Ruby already, which makes you single.” Titiana said in sign language, “big brother, I just want to see you happy.”
“I am, Titiana.” He said in a louder voice. Then he held her by the hand and attempted to pull her so they could walk away but Titiana resisted.
Dmitry huffed, “do you want to spend some time with Natasha? I’ll send Yuri to pick you up as soon as you are done.”
Dmitry had noticed that Titiana’s condition had improved lately. Was it because she stayed in Huxley’s custody for days without taking drugs? Or was it Natasha’s magic?
“I’ll quit taking hard drugs if you can marry Natasha,” Titiana said in sign language.
“I do have a tender spot for you but you can’t make me do anything.” Dmitry said, turned and began to walk towards the exit, “Yuri will pick you up once you are done here.”
When Dmitry was no longer in the room, Titiana turned to Natasha, “I’m an adult. Dmitry is an adult too. You can’t make two adults that have no chemistry between them get married.”
Titiana maintained her sad look, “do you like my brother?” She asked in sign language.
“I do not particularly hate him. But I haven’t seen myself married to him.” Natasha responded. “Your brother is the most powerful man in the city. If at all he wants to willfully marry, trust me, I won’t even be in his options. There are many maidens from many powerful families in the city that he can select from.”
“Okay,” Titiana nodded. She already knows what to do. Since Titiana was already standing, she decided to check on Pavel.
“Can we go check on Pavel together?” Natasha asked and Titiana nodded in response.
Soon, both ladies were in Pavel’s ward. He laid on the bed with his chest to the bed while his bare back was heavily bandaged, for he sustained serious injury.
As at the time Natasha and Titiana walked in, Pavel was still on a call with his father. His father, Mr. Jucef holds the hem of power at Crying sun. Sadly, out of Mr. Jucef’s five children, only Pavel was the male, the rest are females.
However, Pavel was never interested in family business, so as soon as he finished at Harvard, instead of going back to Crying sun, he went to the neighboring city to live a quiet life. For in Leaf City, he will evade all those paparazzi that come with being born from the most powerful family in the city.
But his father, Mr. Jucef never stopped calling him, pleading with him to come back to Crying Sun and take over the company. It’s not like the man was old, he just wanted his son to take over as soon as possible. Pavel’s sisters were also capable but Mr. Jucef worried that their husband could take over his company so the idea of giving the sisters the company never crossed his mind.
But what agitated Pavel during this phone call was the fact that Mr. Jucef had said he was going to come to Leaf City and that he’d like to meet him. Not only was he medically I’ll at the moment, he’s not mentally capable of seeing the old man, for he could predict what the old man intended to see him for.
“If you don’t come to see me with a woman, Pavel, I’ll believe you are still single and thereby get another woman for you before I leave Leaf City,” these were the last words his father said before the call came to an end.
“Pavel,” Natasha called as soon as she realized that Pavel was done on the phone. Pavel tilted his head slowly and on seeing Natasha and Titiana, he spoke gently, “Natasha, thank you for coming. I’m recovering. How about you?”
“I’m much better now,” Natasha says. Pavel also acknowledged Titiana’s presence, just when he wanted to sit upright , the doctor walked in.
“Oh no, Mr. Pavel, you can’t sit up now. Please remain in that position,” the doctor said as he took out some medical equipment.
“Pavel, we’ll check on you later, okay?” Natasha asked and Pavel nodded gratefully. Afterwards, Natasha and Titiana left the room.
Natasha led Titiana home and even administered a few treatments to her before she left home. But barely five minutes after she settled home, she received an unexpected call from Dmitry.
