When the weekend came, Wendy didn’t waste any time and spent both days reading at home.
Out of all the women Henson knew, she was the only one who loved reading the most.
Out of all the women he knew, all of them had tried to seduce him in all sort of ways… except her.
She was the only one who didn’t take him seriously at all.
She didn’t even bother to dress up in front of him, much less seduce him.
Sometimes, he’d even question the ancient saying ‘women will always dress up for the men they like’ as this obviously didn’t apply to her.
He’d gotten so used to her sloppiness up till a point where he no longer found women who caked their faces with makeup or wore miniskirts pleasing to the eye.
When Sunday afternoon rolled around, he’d planned to take her for a walk as he managed to return home from work early,
but he found her holed up at his desk in his study instead. “I don’t wanna,” she replied to his plans without even raising her head.
She’d curled up in his wide and spacious chair like a lazy cat would.
He walked over to her and asked, “Don’t you want to go shopping? Buy some new bags or clothes etc.? I saw they just released a new line of winter clothing the other day. I can bring you there to take a look,”
She lifted her head to shoot him a look. “I have enough clothes.” she retorted.
“But you’ve already worn out your wardrobe for so long. I can take you there to buy new ones,” he offered.
“All my clothes, I bought with my own blood, sweat and tears, so why should I buy new ones just because you tell me to? I refuse,” she insisted.
“You-” he said and pulled a chair over to sit on the other side of the desk.
“Oh Wendy, why don’t you ever put on makeup in front of me? Do you really think that you don’t even need to try anymore after you managed to charm me?” he asked.
She lifted her gaze again to stare at him. “Did I charm you though? The reason why I never wear makeup in front of you is because I feel most comfortable dressed up like this. You’re wearing comfy clothes at home too, so why can’t I? Also, as a professor’s assistant, is there any need to dress up in the first place? It’s not like I’m planning on seducing anyone on campus or anything,” she scoffed.
He felt relieved after hearing her say that. After all, the fact that she felt comfortable showing him her casual side was a sign of her affirmation towards him.
He liked her more this way too.
However… this also meant that she didn’t really take him seriously. He felt that it was impossible to get her to spend his money even though he was loaded.
She leaned forward closer to the desk. “Oh, right! Can you help me with this question? I seemed to have encountered a few difficulties again,” she said.
He then got up and walked up behind her. “Which one?” he asked.
She flipped back two pages and pointed the question out to him. “I skipped them on purpose because I wanted to consult you after you returned home in the evening. I was still reeling over the fact that you came back so suddenly actually,” she said.
He lowered his head and started explaining the question to her.
While she sat and looked up at him,
he stood bent over, looking down at her.
The scene of the two of them looked really sweet from afar.
The more she looked at him, the faster her heart raced.
He looked especially handsome from this angle.
After he finished, he asked, “Did I make it clear for you?”
“Huh?” she gasped as she came back to her senses. “Oh no, I spaced out,” she thought.
She frowned. “Um… I’ll need you to repeat it to me one more time.” she said through pursed lips.
He lowered his head even further till his lips were two or three centimeters away from hers. “Tell me, were you captivated by my beauty just now?” he teased
Her face reddened in an instant. “Nonsense, I couldn’t keep up with your thought process just now. Hurry up and repeat it to me again,” she muttered.
He ruffled her hair in a loving manner after that. “Then you better listen carefully this time, and don’t let your mind wander again. You have all the time in the world to admire my beauty, so there’s no need to rush,” he joked.
She then lowered her head to concentrate on the problem in her book. She felt so embarrassed then.
Campus felt somewhat livelier when Friday rolled around.
It was only ten in the morning, but there were already a few people hanging around outside the multimedia classroom where Henson was to conduct his lecture.
And after a few students had finished their lectures in the morning, the majority of them chose to remain in the classroom until late afternoon, having bread and milk while waiting for his lecture to commence.
The students who had been waiting outside for the whole morning felt frustrated as the students inside the classroom took up their seats just because they refused to leave after their lectures.
This caused a scuffle to occur on campus, as both parties strongly felt that they were in the right.
The matter eventually made its way to the university board.
After all, the aftermath of a fight of this caliber happening on campus was extremely catastrophic.
In response to the situation, President Burke called Wendy and her colleagues to his office
to request something of them. “In light of recent events, as Master Henson’s personal assistants, the four of you must come up with a solution to combat this. If not, our campus would be thrown into disarray if this were to occur every Friday,” Burke lamented.
Cael hurriedly spoke up after hearing that. “We’ll definitely try our best to remedy the situation, sir,” he said.
“Anyone can ‘try their best’. What I want is not that you all ‘try your best’, but to put a stop to this right away. Alright alright, the four of you shouldn’t waste any more time standing here anymore, so hurry along and help me think up of a way to solve this,” President Burke shooed them.
The four of them then left the president’s office together.
Cael was speechless after returning to their office. “Isn’t the president trying to screw us over? How the heck are we supposed to resolve this situation when it’s come to this? Of course the students who had their lectures in the morning won’t want to leave, but it’d be worse if we just let the students who waited out in the corridors for the whole morning to go in too easily too. To be honest, I don’t think we can resolve this without offending anyone,” he ranted.
“Then, what was that just now?” Carmen asked and rolled her eyes at her.
“None of you spoke up, so I had to be the one to say something, duh. We couldn’t exactly leave the president hanging, could we? If we did, he’d probably be so pissed he’d pull us out from being Master Henson’s personal assistants,” he shot back.
After giving it some thought, she realised he was right. “So, what can we do now? We know we’ll lose either way, so what else can we do? I really don’t want to lose this opportunity, the opportunity to get closer to the man who’d been carefully sculpted by heaven itself… Oh God, I really hope the dream I had last night won’t be shattered into pieces today,” she lamented.
Linda turned to face Wendy after hearing what Carmen said.
‘A man who’d been carefully sculpted by heaven itself’ just sounded too funny to Wendy, who’d giggled to herself after hearing that.
His face was definitely sculpted, which was why he looked so handsome,
but as for the work on his heart… it left much to be desired.
If that weren’t the case, then how’d he always manage to come up with so many ideas to take advantage of her?
Just like what he did to her last night – she’d only just turned her body over, and he’d used the chance to press her beneath him, kiss and hug her, and say some nonsense about her seducing him.
She literally just turned over! How was that seducing him?
He was obviously just making up excuses to take advantage of her.
When he flirted with her in the morning, he’d told her it was only normal for men to get hard every morning.
And at noon, he’d told her that one look at her was enough to whet his appetite.
And later at night, he’d told her that she had a kind of medicinal scent.
That was when she realised for the first time that men could come up with any kind of excuse in order to take advantage of a woman.
The thought of it made her somewhat upset.
“You’re smart, Wendy, so have you thought of any solution yet?” Linda asked.
The few people in the office immediately turned their heads to look at her.
