Chapter 150 Ethan’s Torment

Book:Alpha's Rise and Luna's Love Published:2024-6-4

If you deeply love someone, you’ll genuinely see her suffering and feel even more tormented than she is, wishing you could bear the pain for her. Aldrich was in that state right now.
The night at Barrett Manor was exceptionally beautiful, with its lights, moonlight, chirping insects, and a gentle breeze, excluding the occasional sounds of Maggie’s painful morning sickness.
Fifteen minutes had passed since Maggie’s last bout of morning sickness, which was a significant breakthrough. Aldrich put his pocket watch away and kissed Maggie’s hair.
Maggie felt her entire body was covered in the stench of sourness, especially repulsed by Aldrich’s closeness. “Dirty…”
“No, you exude a soft fragrance all over, making me want to protect you, to bear all this pain for you.”
“I’m fine, I’m just worried about the babies…”
“Don’t worry; I’ve already checked on them. They’re doing fine, and the Silver Wolf is playing with them.”
“Silver Wolf?”
“Maggie, please don’t reject the Silver Wolf. It’s me, and I am it.”
“I understand. I just need some time,” Maggie nodded slowly.
Aldrich pinched Maggie’s cheek with tenderness. “I feel like your face got thinner after you vomited.”
“It’s not that quick!”
“Maybe you’ve been overworking yourself recently. Maggie, you need to rest properly.”
Morning sickness can be quite debilitating, and Maggie admitted she couldn’t concentrate to gather moonlight energy.
“Yeah, Aldrich, thank you.”
“Why are you thanking me all of a sudden?”
Maggie looked up at the moon and said, “You’re a great partner. I happened to meet you through twists of fate. Just a bit more, a little less turmoil, a little less surprise, and we could have missed each other.”
“That only proves that we were destined to be together.”
Maggie was still quite weak, but she smiled at Aldrich and said, “My Aldrich, can you take me flying?”
“Of course! With pleasure! I’m forever your good husband.”
“Where to?”
“The bedroom?”
“Yes, we’ll go in through the window!”
“Thomas and the others won’t find us; they’ll be startled!”
With Aldrich’s words, he lifted Maggie and leaped up.
Worried that Maggie’s body might not endure the flight, he didn’t move too quickly, landing securely on the edge of the window. He used his fingerprint to unlock it and placed Maggie inside.
He was still concerned that Maggie might get hungry. “Are you sure you don’t want to eat something?”
“I refuse. I can’t even think of any food; I’ll just throw up.”
After freshening up, Aldrich gently patted Maggie’s shoulder to soothe her to sleep. Even after Maggie fell asleep, Aldrich’s comforting gestures continued. He couldn’t help but wonder if Mrs. Jenkins truly had no connection to Maggie’s morning sickness.
But both times, Maggie experienced morning sickness after interacting with Mrs. Jenkins. Excluding the emotional impact, he had legitimate reasons to suspect all possibilities.
It seemed that hidden tides were stronger than he’d imagined, and the lurking dangers were growing ever closer. Barrett Manor fell into slumber, on the outskirts of the Frost Moon Pack’s territory. The rogue wolves had fallen into a deep sleep, giving them a rare peaceful night.
On the other hand, the rogue wolves of the Frost Moon Pack remained aggressive. In just two days, over forty rogue wolves had been forcefully thrown into the forest, harshly detained by Ethan. From the beginning, Ethan had given up on saving these rogue wolves. In his eyes, if they couldn’t even control themselves, what use were they?
Of course, if someone could survive to the end in this forest, among the ruthless rogue pack, that would undoubtedly be a remarkable wolf, and Ethan longed to have such an ally.
“Grace, I hope you’re still alive.”
Ethan arrived at the edge of the forest, walking along an electrified fence. Faintly in the wind, he heard the sounds of fighting and the scent of blood from within the forest, which was something he enjoyed.
However, the smile of enjoyment on his face quickly froze.
He hadn’t seen Grace yet.
The first place he checked was the fence where Grace had been thrown into the wolf pack, but Grace wasn’t waiting there for him.
Ethan assumed the rogue wolves were aggressive, or maybe Grace wasn’t smart enough. He continued circling the fence, looking for Grace, but there was no sign of her.
After completing a full circle, he still couldn’t find her. He hadn’t even caught a whiff of Grace’s scent, the unique scent of a hybrid. He couldn’t be mistaken.
“Eaten?”
Ethan guessed while his eyes appeared empty. “Don’t blame me. You were just too weak.”
He stood quietly by the fence where Grace had been thrown into the rogue pile, smelling the scent of blood in the air. For the first time, he felt the urge to kill all the wolves here.
“No… I need to leave. The one buried here is just trash.”
He howled at the blood moon, shaking the rogue wolves in the forest. They all fell silent for a couple of seconds until Ethan left, and the rogues resumed their killing.
The night became boring once more, and Ethan’s restless mood didn’t dissipate. Suddenly, within less than five steps, he sensed the ground moving beneath him.
He stopped, but everything seemed normal.
A wry smile tugged at Ethan’s lips, and he clenched his trembling hands. Even he thought his suspicion was insane.
He exerted immense strength, his pores opened, and he delivered a heavy blow to the ground before him.
The earth began to shake, and the empty soil instantly collapsed. In the midst of the soil, there was a conspicuous mound.
“Grace, come out.”
Ethan’s voice sounded like a death knell in the dark night.
Silence.
“Wait for me to grab you with my own hands, but it won’t be so easy to let you go.”
Still no change.
Ethan couldn’t endure it any longer, and he stepped forward, reaching into the muddy heap. He couldn’t tell where it got stuck, but he forcibly dragged out a human figure from the mound of soil.
“Speak!” Ethan turned the muddy face toward him.
It was Grace.
She was in tears, her eyes filled with despair. “What about your germophobia?”
“Your hatred has made me overlook all this dirty soil.”
“Why don’t you just consider me dead in the pile of rogue wolves behind you?”
“No one can control my thoughts, Grace. Don’t you understand that?”
He gripped Grace’s neck. “Little rabbit, tell me, how long have you been digging the hole?”
Grace hadn’t spoken yet when Ethan increased the pressure on her throat as a warning. “Tell the truth and understand who’s in control now.”
“The pile of dead bodies. I stacked all the bodies together, and the other werewolves automatically ignored the hole. They wouldn’t chase me from behind, so I kept digging forward. I just didn’t expect you to arrive so quickly.”
“I owe it to your prophecy. Alexander didn’t break my leg.”
“Disasters always come with good luck that makes people disgusted to the point of toothache!”
Ethan pulled her up from the ground and was pleased to see the shackles on her ankles. “I hope you can talk to me like this in a little while.”
“Where are you taking me?”
“No, it’s you who’s taking me to find the Alpha of The Blue Moon Pack.”
Grace glared at him fiercely. “Are you insane? How dare you target the Alpha!”
