The gray wolf rushed all the way, carrying Grace directly into his room.
Grace looked around at the familiar room. “Nothing has changed here.”
“Yes, Thomas is very considerate.”
The gray wolf transformed into Marvin’s form, and he had bubbles from the bathroom on him. You could imagine that when he learned Grace was outside, he hadn’t even taken time to clean up, he had just transformed into a gray wolf and chased after her.
It had been so long since she’d seen this robust body that Grace’s face turned uncontrollably red. Marvin, too, bashfully wiped his body with his clothes. “I… I was in a hurry.”
“You need to freshen up,” Grace suggested.
Marvin walked into the bathroom and asked, not too confident, “You won’t sneak away, will you?”
Grace, who had planned to return to her room, smiled and said, “Yes.”
Marvin hesitated, choosing not to close the bathroom door.
Grace screamed, “Marvin, you’re being a rogue!”
“Only to you!”
Grace’s face turned hot.
Suddenly, Marvin’s head poked out from the bathroom. “Grace…”
“Rogue wolf! Get in there quickly!”
Even the bathroom was filled with Marvin’s cheerful humming. Grace regretted setting foot here.
She shouldn’t have come back.
If she followed Ethan’s instructions and appeared at the interview, causing Aldrich and Maggie to be embroiled in a media storm, she would be completely trapped. What would Marvin do?
She couldn’t do it. Just thinking of the heart-wrenching scene with her loved ones had shattered her immense pride.
She couldn’t stay any longer!
Grace was about to stand up and leave but was suddenly embraced by Marvin, who was completely naked.
He exuded a strong aura of desire all over his body. The moment their skin touched, it was as if two drifting souls who had been apart for many years had finally reunited, and their souls trembled.
“Is it okay, my Grace?”
Lunarisvampires could not resist the scent and blood of their loved ones. She bit her lip, trying not to nod in agreement. But Marvin was no longer the weak-willed wolf he used to be; he had learned to take the initiative.
He fiercely captured Grace’s lips, not giving her a chance to react. He pinned her down on the large bed, swallowing all her cries of surprise, plundering everything from Grace…
In Aldrich’s master bedroom, Maggie, who was throwing a tantrum, pushed away Aldrich’s advances.
Aldrich looked very frustrated. “Maggie, I can sense that you’re angry.”
“I’m just too tired.”
There were three Energy Beads on the bed. The one Mrs. Jenkins had given her had already lost its luster. The energy stored in this Energy Bead had healed Grace, allowing her to break free from Ethan’s control. In the Moonlit Forest, it had healed…
Marvin and the mysterious woman had used up their three chances, and now this Energy Bead was no different from an ordinary one.
With two Energy Beads left, taken from the owl statue, one had been used to heal Charlie, while the other remained untouched.
Aldrich tried to soothe Maggie’s emotions. “Don’t worry, didn’t we find another Energy Bead?”
“Let’s not take that Energy Bead out of the necklace for now.”
However, Aldrich had already picked up the so-called Energy Bead necklace and pondered. “That woman wasn’t lying; it’s more like a chain, except it’s worn around the neck with a string.”
Maggie took it and placed it in the bedside table. “I don’t want to destroy this chain, no, this ankle bracelet, until it’s absolutely necessary.”
“Do you mind her dying?”
“Maybe her family is looking for her.”
Aldrich cruelly told Maggie, “No, no one cares about her in this world. Even if they do, it’s probably her enemies.”
“Perhaps her wolf pups are still alive?”
“That’s a very naive thought. In those days, nothing related to Lunarisvampires was allowed to exist, let alone such a low-quality hybrid that brought shame to both races.”
Maggie understood Aldrich’s point, but she couldn’t be as rational as he was. “You also think hybrids shouldn’t exist?”
“Of course. Werewolves and Lunarisvampires are natural enemies; it’s always a matter of life and death between us.”
Realizing the distance in Maggie’s eyes, he immediately took her into his arms and softened his tone. “Except for Grace.”
“If Grace wasn’t your former mate, you wouldn’t even have a basic understanding of her. Would you…”
“Kill her.”
In that moment, Maggie felt Aldrich’s embrace turn ice-cold, as if they were in a glacier. She remembered the stone chamber in the Moonlit Forest, where Aldrich had watched that woman choke Maggie, feeling desperate and anguished while negotiating with her.
Could he always remain so rational and make the best choice?
Would his love and duty always be weighed, always choosing the one that was right and more valuable?
Aldrich tried to kiss Maggie’s lips as he explained to her. “Hybrids are difficult to control; having two kinds of power at the same time could cause great instability in the werewolf community, leading to more trouble. I believe that the woman was imprisoned in the Moonlit Forest because someone feared her power.”
Maggie didn’t believe his words. “In my heart, she is the absolute victim. Betrayed by her mate, losing her child, and being controlled and imprisoned for years…”
Aldrich chuckled lightly. “No, dear Maggie. The fact that she could be imprisoned in the terrifying Moonlit Forest alone speaks to her danger. As for her identity, I’ll have to consult with the Elder Council, and tomorrow’s interview is a perfect opportunity.”
Maggie was still torn, her curiosity about what had happened to the woman tormenting her. She was pushed onto the bed by Aldrich.
Countless kisses rained down on her, and she pushed Aldrich with her hands. Aldrich struggled to say, “Maggie, I have to mark you with my scent because you’ll be meeting the elders and other wolves tomorrow.”
Maggie cradled his head and asked, “Do you think a werewolf can fall in love with a Lunarisvampires?”
“Of course not. It’s a mark carved into our blood, passed down through generations. No one can change that.”
“Maybe we’re creating a new history right now?”
“What do you mean?”
“Grace and Marvin, they’re deeply in love, aren’t they?”
Upon hearing this, Aldrich simply bent down and kissed Maggie’s lips, drawing her into the whirlpool of desire.
Sometimes, those who see things clearly and explain the truth do not receive understanding, and such a person would not speak further. Aldrich was one such person.
