Book:Mr. Charles's Hidden Wife Published:2024-5-1

Wendy got up to packed the chicken soup. After getting changed soon, she went downstairs.
She first bought some medicines in a pharmacy near her community, then she took a taxi to Charles family’s villa quickly.
After a few moment’s hesitation, Wendy rang the doorbell.
The servant opened the door for her.
After walking for full three minutes, Wendy finally arrived at the front door of Henson’s villa.
Donald was waiting for her at the entrance. “Miss Evans, please come in.”
“Sorry to disturb you at such a late time. ”
“Never mind. Miss Evans. We are happy to see you here.”
“Where’s Henson now? ”
“He is in the study upstairs now.”
Wendy then passed the soup to Donald. “Donald, can you help me to pour the chicken soup out into a bowl? This is for Henson. ”
“Okay, alright, I will take care of it. You can go to find him directly.”
Wendy nodded to him and went inside the room. She then went upstairs and knocked on the door of the study.
“Come in.”
Wendy pushed the door open. Henson’s complexion was… not bad. Wendy smiled and thought.
“Should I say, surprise?” Henson raised his eyebrows to see her.
Wendy was guilty to walk forward. She then took out a box of medicine and put it on his desk.
“This is for you.”
Henson looked at the name of the medicine box. He smiled and asked, “You didn’t call me. But how do you know that I’m sick?”
“Um… I heard it from Howell when I called him about the school. ”
“So, you called Howell not me?”
Wendy pouted, feeling more guilty. “Um…”
She scratched her eyebrows and did not how to reply this.
“What? Feeling guilty? ”
“I thought you would come to have dinner.”
“But I didn’t show up, and you still didn’t call me?”
Wendy curled her lips, “Henson, when others tried to make up with you, can’t you just accept their apology? I am here to see you now. Don’t you think it’s better than a call? ”
“If I were not ill, I’m afraid you still wouldn’t come.”
Well… It’s true.
At the door, Donald knocked on the door and got in. “Mr. Charles, this is the chicken soup from Miss Evans for you.”
“Oh, really?”
Wendy didn’t reply, but Donald said, “The cook said downstairs that the chicken soup smelled so good that it must have been stewed for an entire day. Miss Evans is so considerate.”
Wendy flushed.
“Alright, put it here, and you can leave now.” Henson smiled to say.
Hearing the cold tone, Wendy mistook that Henson was angry again.
She felt depressed.
How could he be angry so eaisly?
She wasn’t his girlfriend. Why should she call him everyday?
Furthermore, she seldom called Gorman too before, when they were a couple.
Why did they need call everyday if nothing special had happened?
Wendy said dejectedly, “Just remember to take the medicine. I am leaving now.”
She then turned around to walk outside with Donald.
Henson said helplessly, “You, stand still.”
 “What?”
“Where are you going?”
“Didn’t you ask us to go out?”
“Miss Evans, Mr. Charles was saying to me.” Donald couldn’t help but laugh.
Henson waved to Donald, “You can leave now. You don’t need explain it to her. She might misunderstand other things again.”
Donald laughed to go out.
Wendy cast an angry eye to him, “Mocking me is so funny to you?”
“Mocking you? No, I am just telling the truth ”
“What? I actually got the highest GPA in San Diego.”
“It could only prove that you have worked hard.”
“You… Alright, you can say what you like. I’m leaving now.”
“Wait.” Henson called her stop. “You are you so easy to get angry.”
“Do you like that if I imply you’re stupid?”
“But you are a fool. How would I ask you to leave after I waited for your call for the entire day. Even the fool would know that I want you to stay here.”
Her face turned a little red.
“Come here.”
Wendy looked at him, “I’d better just stand here.”
“Give me some water. Or how can I take the medicine?”
Wendy paused for a second. Then she hurriedly poured some water for him.
What was wrong with her now? Was she really becoming stupid in front of him?
Or it’s because … his IQ was too high?
Wendy brought the water to him.
He stole a glance at her across the table. Then he picked up the medicine box, pretending that he was reading it.
“I’m a little dehydrated now and felt hard to read the words on the box. Can you help me take a look about how many pills should I take?”
Wendy sidestepped the table to get the box and checked the recommended dose on it.
But before she could find it out, Henson suddenly pulled her into his embrace speedily.
Wendy then staggered to fall onto Henson’s lap.
She tried to stand up, but Henson hugged her tighter.
“Henson, let me go.”
“No. You’ve come to see me. If I let you go now, I will be the most stupid fool.”
Wendy turned her head around to glare at him, which gave Henson a chance to press down her head.
Their lips met the next second.
Henson deepened the kiss.
She closed her eyes. She then struggled hard to move her lips away from his.
“Henson, you’re messing with me again.”
“Because you are so alluring.”
Wendy wanted to stand up, but Henson still refused to let her go.
She panicked. “Let go of me. You should take your medicine now.”
“Do you think I need the medicine now?”
She sized up his expression again. Yes, he looked healthy.
“So, Howell was lying to me?”
“No, I was not feeling well before. But my family doctor has prescribed medicine for me. I’m all fine in the afternoon.”
Wendy believed she was really stupid now.
That’s right, he’s Henson Charles. How couldn’t he have a private doctor?
He didn’t need her medicine at all.
Looking at her angry look, Henson smiled to hug her waist, “I am truly happy that you can come here.”
Wendy curled her lips. “I come here only because I heard that you got diarrhea. I feel somewhat guilty for the hamburg you had last night.”
“You heard the news in the evening, but you have been cooking the chicken soup for an entire day because of guilt?”
“Who said that? I… made it for myself.”
“Sure, OK.”
“Yes, it’s true. I’m not lying to you.”
“I’ve told you that yes, I believe you.”
“No, you don’t. You obviously saying it in an ironical way.”
Henson rubbed her nose slightly, “You are now pretending angry now.”
Wendy felt defeated. Was Henson too experienced or too smart to do with?
