“Why not just go to his company?”
“No,” said Wendy. She shook her head. “I once worked over there. I don’t want to be seen by anyone there.”
“Okay. I am calling Henson.”
He then called Henson.
An icy voice came to him. “What’s wrong?”
“Henson, let us have lunch together today.”
“No, I refuse.” Henson then wanted to hang up.
“Wait. Henson, don’t hang up. It’s Sister Wendy that asks you to have lunch with us. She says she misses you.”
Wendy patted Howell on his back for his naughty behavior. Then she wanted to snatch the phone from his hand.
But Howell ran away.
Wendy was a little anxious for she was afraid that Henson would take Howell’s words seriously. Howell was really looking for a beating by her.
Henson remained silent for full ten seconds. He then said, “Ask her to call me herself.”
After speaking that, Henson directly hung up the phone.
Howell looked at Wendy and begged, “Sister Wendy. Please be quick, quick! Henson almost agrees with our date. He asks you to call him.”
“Why?”
“Henson is always very pretentious. So please call him soon.”
Wendy took out her phone helplessly. Then he dialed Henson’s number.
Henson’s expression turned better as he saw the name on his phone. He curled his lips.
Expect Henson, there were several mangers who was just being scolded before Howell’s call accompanying him to listen to his ringtone.
But Henson didn’t pick up the phone until the ringtone almost ended.
The call finally went through, but no one was speaking. Wendy could not help but tense up a little, “Um… Henson, have you eaten your lunch?”
“No.”
“How about eating together?”
Henson didn’t reply that.
Wendy felt embarrassed instantly. Henson seemed to be making fun with her.
“Do you have any free time?”
“Since you have invited me so many times, fine, I will spare some time for you.”
Wendy was speechless for his shamelessness.
“Then Howell will send you the address.”
After hanging up, Henson looked at the three people in front of him with a nicer face.
“Do you all remember what I just said now?” asked Henson in a soft tone.
“Yes.” “Sure.” “Yes, sir.”
“Then why not leave? Waiting for lunch? ”
They hurriedly replied, “Mr. Charles, then we’ll be leaving now.”
After they left the room, Henson could not help but smile and went downstairs to drive away.
Howell and Wendy had already been in the restaurant when Henson arrived there. Howell was sitting opposite to Henson. They were chatting and then Wendy suddenly cast an angry look to Howell.
Henson walked over to them, Howell immediately standing up to pull the chair for him.
“Henson, why are you so late? Sister Wendy has already been hungry.”
Wendy then warned Howell with angry eyes again.
Wendy did not pay any special attention Henson. She just asked around, “What do you want to eat?”
Henson was about to answer it, but Howell suddenly clapped his hands and said, “Oh my, I just remember that I still have some matters to do with today. I should be leaving now. So you two could have the lunch today. Take your time. Bye bye!”
Howell then stood up to wink at Wendy and left quickly.
Wendy was stunned and speechless.
So he just left her behind like this?
At this time, the waiter happened to bring the menus to them. Henson just received and opened it, “What do you want to eat?”
“It’s all fine with me.”
Henson then ordered them some dishes; the waiter collected their orders and left soon. When they were alone, Henson put down the menu and turned his head to look at Wendy.
Wendy tensed up a bit. “What… What’s wrong? ”
“Do you have something else that you want to say to me, before you talk with me about the matter of Howell’s university?”
Wendy was surprised. “How do you know that?”
“Howell is so easy to understand. He has asked many people to help him to change my mind. But no one dare to go against with me, except you. Right?”
Wendy blushed. She had always known Henson was hard to deal with. This help for Howell was really a tough job.
Now she had been seen through even before she could say a word.
“I…” Wendy scratched her forehead. “I…”
So embarrassing.
“When do you have the stutter? Where are your fluent and sharp words like yesterday when you threw me out of your house?”
Henson lifted his teacup to drink.
Wendy frowned for his words. “You just want to mock me, so you agreed this lunch, right?”
“Mmm,” Henson raised one eyebrow to her. “You guess right.”
“Henson.” Staring at him, Wendy was little miffed.
“With such an attitude, aren’t you afraid that you will screw Howell’s thing up?”
“But my good attitude won’t change your decision either.” Wendy snorted to have a drink of her tea.
“Otherwise, what do you think that I would come out to get cheated by you?”
“Cough…”
Wendy was so surprised.
She chocked herself with the tea.
She turned to look at Henson with disbelief.
Henson raised his hand to pat on her back, “You should drink slowly.”
They were very close.
Wendy shrank back a little immediately, “Henson, I’m planing to play tricks on you, I just… come here to have a talk with you.”
“Hmm, why should I listen to you?”
“Then why do you still come out?”
Henson retracted his hand to cross his legs. He then said in a clear voice, “Because I want to see you.”
Wendy blushed. He could always say these words so easy.
Wendy didn’t know if she should laughed or cried for this.
Was teasing her so fun to him?
“Now, just tell me, what are you going to say for Howell?”
“Are you taking it seriously that you don’t want Howell to study here?”
“Right.”
“Why?”
“I want him to study business management abroad. Teachers there are better.”
“But some people are born to be good at business. They don’t need to study this abroad.”
“Howell will be a leader of a big company. If he just graduates from a common university here, how could he control his elites in his company in the future?”
“He can be willful in schools. But after he graduates, he will finally go to work. Workplace is always very cruel. I don’t him to be said incompetent by others behind his back.
Wendy was speechless.
Henosn’s words made perfect sense.
At that time, the waiter came to serve their dishes.
After the waiter left, Wendy picked up her forks to eat her food with a depressed expression.
Henson looked at her and asked, “Why not say anything?”
Wendy looked at Henson. “You are thinking good for his future. I can not just say any objection to that.”
Hearing this, Henson smiled.
She was always smart and decisive, which he liked most.
