Chapter 48 Sealed Once Again

In Maggie’s mind, a fierce argument erupted between the Energy Orb and the twin babies, their words colliding like thunderbolts. Maggie begged them to lower their voices because the overwhelming noise was giving her a headache. However, amidst their quarrel, she managed to piece together the origin of the Energy Bead.
This was a century-old forgotten relic of Selene lost on Earth, containing the divine energy that once illuminated the night sky. The orb had mistakenly identified Maggie as its mother, believing she possessed the power to awaken it.
The conversation between the Energy Orb and the twins was filled with frustration, confusion, and longing.
“I’m the one who can awaken her, you two are just babies!” the Energy Bead exclaimed urgently.
The first twin retaliated, “No! We won’t let you take our mom away! We need her.”
The second twin chimed in, determination in their voice, “You better step back! Mom loves us, not you!”
Maggie found herself caught in their emotional whirlwind, trying to untangle the complex threads that connected them all. There was an invisible bond between the Energy Orb, the twins, and herself, waiting to be unraveled.
But Maggie’s strength was gradually waning, and the light emitted by the Energy Bead was dimming.
Energy Orb cried out, “Mom, don’t leave me alone, take me home…”
Suddenly, the light went out, and Maggie’s hands felt as if they’d lost all their strength as they dropped from the Energy Orb.
“Maggie, are you alright?” came Aldrich’s concerned voice from above. Maggie shook her head, then noticed that Aldrich was half-naked.
“Aldrich! Where are your clothes?” Maggie asked in shock.
“They got torn in the struggle, but it doesn’t matter.”
Maggie’s peripheral vision caught the torn fabric on the ground, and Aldrich’s lower half was haphazardly covered with a tablecloth. It was clear he had rushed over in a panic after his altercation with Ethan and upon discovering Maggie.
Amidst the chaos, the elders urgently urged Maggie to place her hands on the Energy Orb again, hoping it would reignite its glow. “Miss Nelson, please try again. This is an unprecedented performance for the Energy Orb,” they pleaded.
Aldrich also encouraged, “Maggie, give it a try. There are too many unexplained mysteries waiting for us to uncover.”
Under the gaze of the onlookers, Maggie gently placed her hands on the Energy Bead once more. However, their hopes were quickly dashed as the orb remained in its dormant state. Its ethereal light refused to appear, and Maggie heard no voice from the Energy Orb as if the previous turmoil had never truly existed.
Maggie softly inquired of the Energy Orb, “How can I take you home? Will you appear again?”
Still, there was no response from the Energy Orb, and even the necklace hanging around Maggie’s neck no longer emitted its responsive glow.
Amidst the confusion, the elders, filled with anticipation, urged Maggie to place her hands on the Energy Orb again, hoping its glow would reignite. However, their hopes were swiftly shattered as the orb remained dormant, and its graceful light refused to appear.
Maggie couldn’t help but utter a sarcastic remark, “It seems this Energy Orb is utterly useless.”
The disappointment among the elders was palpable. They could feel the ebb and flow of energy radiating from the necklace, yet when Maggie took it off, the necklace appeared devoid of any pulsating power.
This discovery reinforced the notion that the true potential of this necklace could only be unlocked in Maggie’s presence. She likely held the key to unleashing its dormant abilities.
While the “Tears of the Sea” necklace resonated with the energy bead, its influence remained faint, insignificant to the werewolf community. However, when Maggie wore the necklace, its power seemed to strengthen, endowing her with extraordinary abilities.
The mysterious connection between Maggie, the necklace, and the Energy Orb unfolded like a complex tapestry, concealing enigmas waiting to be unraveled.
The subtle energy fluctuations emitted by the necklace caught the attention of the elders, stirring a deep intuition within them. This newfound power had the potential to be the key to solving the crisis currently plaguing the werewolf community.
“This situation is indeed rare,” one elder marveled.
Another senior elder shook his head, “I vaguely remember finding such records in our ancient texts, but it’s been a long time. I need to check those ancient records quickly.”
“What’s certain is that Miss Nelson and the Energy Orb have a connection that transcends ordinary werewolf bloodlines,” another elder stated.
The elders all turned their gaze towards Maggie, their eyes filled with curiosity and seriousness, making Maggie feel uneasy.
One elder said to Aldrich, “Barrett, please come over. We need to discuss some matters.”
Aldrich patted Maggie’s hand to reassure her and then approached the elders.
“What do you think about the Energy bead?” Aldrich asked.
Most of the elders couldn’t come up with a reason. “We need further investigation and observation. Maybe keeping Miss Nelson with the Council is a decision favorable to unraveling the mysteries.”
“Impossible!” Aldrich firmly refused.
Maggie observed from a distance, noticing the tense atmosphere between Aldrich and the elders. She realized they were discussing something related to her and instinctively believed that Aldrich was protecting her.
She gently touched her belly, “My babies, you have to be good.”
Aldrich’s direct refusal infuriated the elders. “Aldrich Barrett, do you dare to defy the Council’s decision?”
“I have no intention of defying the Council. On the contrary, I am loyal to the pack, concerned about the welfare of werewolves. But Maggie should not be a subject of research. She is my successor’s mother, my important Luna. I believe taking care of Maggie and the pups is the best decision.”
Aldrich’s stance left the elders speechless. He bid farewell to them and walked over to Maggie.
“Can we go home now?” Maggie nervously asked. “Is there any conflict?”
Aldrich smiled and ruffled Maggie’s hair. “Yes, we can go home.”
Maggie felt almost completely enveloped by Aldrich’s towering frame. She recalled the plea of the Energy Orb to Marjorie to take it away before the light faded, expressing its desire to escape the elders’ control. Maggie was frustrated with the situation, and she gathered the courage to pose a bold question to the elders.
Maggie: “Is there a possibility for me to keep the Energy Bead? It seems to have a connection with me.”
The elders exchanged glances, their expressions solemn and unwavering.
One elder said, “Maggie, the Energy Bead is a sacred artifact entrusted to our people, not something we can easily bestow.”
Another elder added, “Indeed, it holds significant power and meaning within our werewolf community.”
Maggie felt a wave of disappointment but wasn’t ready to give up. Aldrich always had a way of sensing her emotions, and he approached with a reassuring smile, patting Maggie’s shoulder.
Aldrich reassured her, “Don’t worry, Maggie. When I ascend to the position of Alpha King, we will have more opportunities to interact with the orb. I promise you.”
Seeing this, Maggie’s eyes lit up, and a glimmer of hope rekindled in her heart.
Maggie replied, “Thank you, Aldrich. I will patiently wait for that day.”
As Maggie made her decision, the Energy Orb seemed to sense her determination and emitted a gentle glow.
At the same time, Aldrich signaled for Maggie to follow him, leading her away from the elders. Behind them, the Energy Orb let out a mournful cry, a sound only audible to Maggie’s ears, tinged with longing and loneliness.
Maggie couldn’t help but look back, her gaze fixed on the sealed orb. She whispered softly, her voice filled with sympathy.
Maggie said, “I promise, I won’t forget you. We will find a way to spend time together very soon.”
The orb’s lament echoed in her mind, reminding them both of their unique bond, a mix of joy and sorrow.
