Just ten minutes ago, Aldrich was at the company’s headquarters attending a meeting when a powerful mind link suddenly flooded his consciousness. As he recognized the desperate cries for help, his golden eyes widened in horror-his own pups were in danger.
Without hesitation, he left the meeting, leaving his confused colleagues behind, tapping into his innate teleportation abilities. In a silver flash, he appeared inside the bustling VitaGenics Fertility Hospital’s operating room.
The room was filled with a heavy scent of disinfectant, and Aldrich’s imposing presence filled the entire space. The medical staff stood frozen, startled by the sudden arrival of the tall, black-haired man, who exuded an air of determination.
Aldrich’s gaze fell upon the doctors and nurses desperately trying to stabilize the patient. The heart monitor beeped urgently, and his own heart raced in sync with the unborn child’s cries.
Minutes later, Charlie rushed into the hospital, breathless. The air in the operating room grew tense, and everyone gathered, their faces marked by concern and anticipation.
“What are you all doing? Stop everything!” Aldrich demanded, his voice filled with anxiety.
Alisa took a deep breath, her eyes filled with unease, her voice trembling slightly with fear. “This is about Maggie’s pregnancy.”
Aldrich’s eyes widened, and his heart raced. “What happened? Tell me!” he urged, the urgency clear in his voice.
Alisa hesitated for a moment, gathering her thoughts before continuing, “During the ultrasound, Maggie saw… something unusual,” she explained carefully. “She’s expecting twins, but they don’t look like human babies. They look more like… wolves.”
Aldrich’s jaw dropped, his face displaying shock. “Wolves?” he repeated, his voice almost a whisper, as Aldrich remembered the scent he had detected when he was near Maggie.
Charlie, who had been listening attentively, took a step forward, his expression serious. “Aldrich, I believe I might have an explanation,” he interjected.
Aldrich turned to Charlie, his eyes searching for answers. “What is it, Charlie?” he asked, his voice pleading.
Charlie took a deep breath, speaking calmly. “Based on Alisa’s description, Maggie might actually be carrying your children, Aldrich. Werewolf children.” He revealed.
Aldrich’s eyes widened even more, a mixture of complex emotions swirling within him. His face displayed confusion, excitement, and a hint of worry. “My pups?” he whispered, his voice tinged with astonishment. “But how is that even possible?”
Charlie glanced at Alisa and then back to Aldrich. “It seems the director’s words were correct,” he explained. “Werewolf pregnancies have different characteristics from regular humans, with a faster development rate. Congratulations, Aldrich, Maggie is now expecting your werewolf offspring.”
Aldrich realized the strength of the mind link between himself and his unborn twins, confirming they were indeed his children.
When Charlie mentioned that the baby was Aldrich’s, the hospital director’s thoughts raced as he pieced together the situation. He realized that their plan to swap sperm samples had been successful. However, the unexpected rapid development of the werewolf fetus made him initially think the plan had failed. His joy surged when he realized that the hospital’s investment project was saved. A brilliant smile graced his face as he turned eagerly to Aldrich, craving to share the details of their secret exchange of Maggie’s chosen sperm sample.
“Ah, Aldrich!” the director exclaimed, excitement filling his voice. “You won’t believe it! We’ve succeeded! The switch with Maggie’s chosen sample worked!” His eyes shone with the glow of victory as he revealed the truth.
Alisa and Maggie, who had been attentively listening, were suddenly overcome with rage. Maggie’s face flushed with frustration, and her voice quivered with anger and disappointment. “How could you, Director? You’ve ruined my choice,” she cried out, her voice hoarse.
Alisa’s eyes blazed with anger, her fists clenched at her sides. “And you made me take the blame, then fired me for it!” She burned with fury, bitterness coating her voice.
Charlie breathed a sigh of relief, seemingly foreseeing his own master’s ascension to the Alpha throne.
Aldrich stared at the ultrasound images of the wolf-like pups on the screen. Upon seeing these two figures, he finally exhaled in relief. Yet, he couldn’t help but feel a tinge of guilt for misunderstanding Maggie earlier. After all, he was a first-time father, unfamiliar with the complexities of werewolf reproduction and unable to discern the scent right away. However, what she had done, trying to destroy his offspring, was unforgivable.
Anger and fear welled up within Maggie. “I chose a basketball donor’s sperm to have a healthy, normal child,” she lamented, her voice trembling with frustration and fear. “But I never expected my child to be a werewolf! This leaves me at a loss…”
Maggie fainted.
Panic surged through Aldrich’s veins, and he immediately instructed the director to initiate an emergency response. It was a tense and perplexing moment, but eventually, Maggie regained consciousness. She suddenly opened her eyes and found herself surrounded by concerned faces.
Charlie, relieved to see Maggie awake, hurried to her side to comfort her. “You’re safe now, Maggie,” he assured her warmly and sympathetically. “Let me explain everything to you.”
With a deep breath, Charlie offered a simple explanation of Aldrich’s true identity as a mysterious werewolf and the potential candidacy for the North Continent Alpha title. He also mentioned that Aldrich’s sperm donation was part of his duty to find a suitable mate for reproduction, and the need for in vitro fertilization. As he spoke, Charlie’s words carried deep respect for Aldrich’s status and the secrecy of the werewolf world.
Maggie listened intently, her thoughts gradually opening to the possibility of a reality she had never considered. Slowly, Maggie began to grasp the existence of the werewolf world. Finally understanding the truth, Maggie’s heart was filled with a mixture of emotions. She realized that beyond the world of ordinary humans, there was a world of werewolves.
In that moment, driven by maternal love, Maggie made her choice. She accepted the reality of carrying werewolf children. Regardless of whether her children were humans or werewolves, they were her flesh and blood. Her love for them transcended any inherent differences.
Maggie’s voice was resolute, and she spoke with newfound determination. “They’re my children,” she declared, her voice filled with unwavering love. “I will love them, no matter what they are.”
Finally, Aldrich broke the silence, his voice tinged with anticipation. “Maggie, I have a proposal for you. I believe you won’t be able to resist this offer.”
Maggie lay quietly on the hospital bed, her gaze shifting from the fluorescent light above to Aldrich sitting beside her. She contemplated for a moment. “Aldrich,” she began, her voice soft yet firm, “my only condition, and the one thing I won’t compromise on, is that I won’t be separated from my child.”
