Maggie pushed open the hospital door, her steps weighed down by the recent encounter with Aldrich. She found Alisa’s office, her heart pounding in her chest. Alisa sensed Maggie’s emotional state and lifted her head from her desk, her face etched with concern.
“Maggie,” Alisa softly spoke, her voice filled with worry. “What’s happened? You look so dejected.”
As Maggie slumped into a nearby chair, tears welled up in her eyes. Alisa rushed to her side, kneeling to meet her gaze.
“Aldrich… he… he refused to see me,” Maggie choked out, her voice trembling with emotion. “I tried to request his help, but he just ignored me, as if I weren’t even there. He was so cold and heartless…”
Alisa grasped Maggie’s trembling hands, her brows furrowing with anger. “You shouldn’t be treated like that. I’m so sorry, Maggie.”
Maggie wiped away her tears, her voice filled with dejection. “I thought he might show some compassion, some understanding. But he only cares about his own agenda. I misjudged him, thinking he was a kind person.”
Alisa stood before Maggie, her eyes shining with gratitude and reassurance. She couldn’t find words to express how deeply she felt.
“Maggie,” she said, her voice quivering with excitement, “I can’t believe you’ve done all this for me. You went to find Aldrich and plead for my job.”
Maggie reached out, gently holding Alisa’s trembling hands. “Alisa, you’re my family. I can’t bear to see you suffer, especially when it’s all a misunderstanding. You should be here, thriving in your job.”
Alisa realized that she might not have much time left at the hospital and needed to address Maggie’s pregnancy-related matters as soon as possible.
Alisa’s grip tightened, and her voice carried determination. “Listen to me, Maggie. Your well-being is the most important thing right now. Make sure you proceed with the artificial insemination process. As for my situation, we’ll find a way.”
Hope radiated in Alisa’s voice.
Maggie, with her exhausted body, returned home, her mind weighed down by recent events. Sleepiness enveloped her, leading her into a realm where reality and fantasy merged, and Maggie gradually drifted into slumber.
In her dream, Maggie found herself in a captivating forest. The moon bathed the surroundings in ethereal light, casting a luminous glow. Towering, proud trees stretched their branches to the heavens, as if inviting her into their sanctuary.
Yet, amidst this beautiful forest, an unsettling presence hung in the air. As Maggie felt invisible eyes on her, her heart raced, and a shiver ran through her body, as if a cold breeze whispered caution. And then, she saw it – a silver wolf, powerful and majestic, emerging from the shadows.
The wolf’s eyes shimmered with an otherworldly light, unwavering as they locked onto Maggie. It prowled toward her, moving gracefully but exuding silent threat. But what struck her most was the striking resemblance between its face and Aldrich’s – the same piercing gaze, strong jawline, and the captivating yet troubling air of mystery.
Fear gripped Maggie’s heart, triggering her instinct to flee. Her legs propelled her forward, frantically racing through the forest, desperate to escape the relentless pursuit of the wolf. Each step she took seemed to carry a mix of determination and vulnerability, terrified of being caught but hoping to evade unscathed. The wolf showed no mercy, instead bounding after Maggie, like it was hunting a helpless lamb.
Her breath quickened, and her body reached its limits. The forest seemed never-ending, with towering trees and hidden dangers forming an endless labyrinth. The wolf closed in on Maggie, its eyes filled with surprise, its nose keenly picking up her scent.
Suddenly, the wolf approached Maggie step by step, one leg positioned between her own, trapping her against a tree. Its fur brushed against her, and the wolf felt a surge of excitement, its sharp claws almost tearing Maggie’s clothes, threatening to scrape her delicate skin. It reveled in her fear, growing more excited.
Maggie’s face turned pale, and she trembled all over. But the wolf only bared its sharp fangs, and its tongue lightly licked her lower abdomen. Maggie felt the wolf’s prickling tongue graze her soft skin, a tingling sensation flooding her brain. She was almost overwhelmed by this sudden stimulation, and she involuntarily let out a soft gasp.
Maggie instinctively protected her belly, feeling a warm flow emanate from her abdomen, as if a strong connection was forming with the wolf’s presence.
The moon cast fleeting shadows, heightening her senses. It was as though the structure of reality distorted under the weight of her confusion.
Maggie collapsed, her body growing weak, her hands cradling the wolf’s massive head. She lay in the soft fur, feeling that the wolf had no intention of hurting her. She could even sense the affection between them, a subtle chemical reaction taking place.
Then, just as her strength waned, and desire threatened to consume her, Maggie’s eyes suddenly snapped open, pulling her back into the realm of her bedroom. Sweat glistened on her forehead, attesting to the intensity of her dream.
She lay there, her chest rising and falling with each difficult breath, trying to hold onto the lingering warmth. The dream had fused fantasy and reality in a way she couldn’t comprehend. She pulled back the covers and touched her lower abdomen, as if an unusual force had been injected into her.
But the image of the wolf and Aldrich’s face in her mind wouldn’t fade, overlapping and casting a shadow on her thoughts.
The wolf in her dream had felt so real, initially scaring her and later igniting her desire. Could there be a deeper meaning hidden within? Only time would reveal the answer. But for now, Maggie couldn’t shake the feeling that her path was intertwined with the mysterious figure haunting her dreams-a figure both dangerous and inexplicably tempting.
