“Katie and I received news of his death while we were in the South. We hid in our room, afraid to leave or talk to anyone.”
“I had planned on spending the rest of my life in Haralu, but the humidity was too much for us and I was worried about his grave being left unattended.”
“Three years later, I returned with Katie.”
Flynn frowned.
“If everything goes smoothly, they’ll be back within six months. If not, then never come back.”
The next day, his mother passed away.
Two days later, Wild was killed.
It seemed that their plan had failed.
“Mrs. Wilcox,” Flynn asked. “Do you know what Mr. Wilcox and my Mom were planning?”
Mariam shook her head helplessly. “I asked him about it too but he refused to say anything. He even warned me that knowing less is better or else it could lead to danger.”
Flynn rubbed his forehead feeling a headache coming on.
He felt like he was so close to discovering the truth but didn’t know which direction to take next.
A sense of powerlessness washed over him as he sighed deeply.
“I may not know much about your mother’s past,” Mariam continued speaking softly. “But from small details in her daily life I can tell she was well-educated…”
“Oh no no no… not just polite manners! She had an air about her – knowledge and grace that came naturally – something you don’t see outside of elite families!”
Flynn remained noncommittal.
In his impression, his mother was the epitome of a virtuous wife and mother. She excelled in music, chess, calligraphy, and painting. However, the Clark family never gave her a chance to showcase her talents.
Otherwise, Flynn might have become a refined young gentleman, achieving greater success.
“Child, your mother would never want you to live a life consumed by revenge. She only wished for you to marry and have children, to live a good life!”
“Forget the past, stop the investigation.”
Mariam advised him.
Flynn shook his head resolutely and said, “My mother lived a righteous life, enduring poverty throughout. I must seek justice for all the injustices she faced in these years.”
“Seeking revenge for my mother is my belief, not even the gods can stop me!”
….
After chatting with Mariam about his mother’s past, Flynn made a call to Katrina as he left the residential area.
He inquired about the improved version of the Ancient Formula Returning Heart Pill.
The second phase of clinical trials had been completed, and Flynn urged the research and development department to expedite the progress.
Before the new medicine could be launched, the third phase of clinical trials had to be completed.
After hanging up with Katrina, Flynn called Rose.
He had confidence in the improved Ancient Formula Returning Heart Pill and believed it was ready for promotion.
The marketing department would handle the advertising, while the quality department would bring samples to the National Traditional Medicine Clinic, the State Medicine Hall, and eighteen top medical authentication institutions.
Once they obtained their certifications, the majority of the work would be deemed successful.
They could also place orders with suppliers to prepare for mass production of the medicinal ingredients.
Everything proceeded in an orderly manner.
Niarak, which seemed calm on the surface, was already in turmoil, as he was waiting to deliver a heavy blow to Lilia tomorrow night.
Rose sat in her office, recalling the bitterness and gloom of the past decade, feeling as if the clouds were parting to reveal the sunlight.
Tomorrow was the foundational battle for Energence Pharmaceuticals!
A battle that would shake the heavens and earth!
“Ms. Sharp, the security guard called from the gate. There’s a girl named Molly George who wants to see you,” Rose’s secretary knocked on the door and informed her.
“Let her in!” Rose pondered for a moment and agreed.
Soon, Molly appeared in the office.
“Miss George, you still want to see the God of War,” Rose skimmed through the documents and said indifferently.
She couldn’t say she liked or disliked Molly; she simply found the girl too reclusive and difficult to get along with.
“I only want to ask the God of War about the clues he has, and I promise not to bother him anymore!” Molly solemnly declared.
Rose paused her actions, looked up, and smiled, “Miss George, what if I told you that even the God of War doesn’t know the forces behind the King of Poison? Would you believe it?”
Molly remained silent, her brow furrowing slightly.
“Miss George, you understand the terror of this force. The King of Poison is just a small pawn within it. How much can he really know?” Rose said.
Based on Flynn’s conversation with Ayden last night, the forces behind them were truly terrifying.
The King of Poison was a mere pawn with limited knowledge.
A tinge of disappointment flashed in Molly’s eyes, but she persisted, “Actually, before the battle last night, I had two possible outcomes in mind.”
“The first was that the King of Poison would sacrifice himself for the organization and refuse to speak.”
“The second scenario was that he might talk but have limited information.”
“But he must know some clues, even if it’s just a little. Ms. Sharp, I hope you can introduce me to the God of War.”
Rose forced a bitter smile and shook her head, “Miss George, to tell you an unpleasant truth, you couldn’t even kill the King of Poison. So what if you know the forces behind him?”
“If you’re merely walking into your own death, it’s better not to continue.”
“I understand your burning desire for revenge, but some truths can be despairing, such as discovering the enemy is a Great Grandmaster, or even stronger.”
Molly bit her lip and softly uttered, “Even if the opponent is as formidable as a deity, I will still give it my all.”
“Even if I die on the path of revenge for the family, I will have no regrets.”
Rose was taken aback by these words.
This girl had a bit of her own shadow. Living solely for revenge, but the power she faced was even stronger, and her methods were too extreme.
“Ms. Sharp, I know that the God of War may have instructed that he doesn’t want to meet me, and it puts you in a difficult position.”
“Here’s what I propose: I’ll work at Energence for a period of time, as your bodyguard.”
“When I come across the God of War, I’ll ask him personally,” Molly said.
She knew that Rose had a connection with the God of War. Energence Pharmaceuticals wouldn’t have developed this far without the God of War’s contribution.
As long as she had a relationship with Rose, she would eventually meet the God of War.
Rose smiled politely and declined, “Thank you, Miss George, for thinking highly of Energence. Having Flynn as my bodyguard is enough.”
Molly frowned slightly, displeased. “Ms. Sharp, you have made so many enemies recently. You need a powerful bodyguard, not a coward who runs away at the first sign of trouble.”
“I am an Inner Strength Grandmaster, clearly a hundred times better than Flynn!”
Rose looked at Molly and smiled without saying a word.
Flynn was bothersome enough, and she didn’t want to reveal the truth.
Moreover, Brady had mentioned last night that Flynn killed the King of Poison, but Molly didn’t believe it!
Rose felt it was unnecessary to argue further.
“Fine! I’ll step back. Can I at least join the R&D department?” Molly stared into Rose’s eyes and calmly said, “I practice both medicine and martial arts, so I can be of assistance in pharmaceutical research.”
Just as she finished speaking, the office door swung open.
Ruth hurriedly walked in, her face filled with concern. “Ms. Sharp, during the third phase of clinical trials, the test subjects experienced severe diarrhea reactions. Our Ancient Formula Returning Heart Pill is having issues!”
