Scarlet stood at the door, feeling confused.
They seemed to be discussing something secretive, and it appeared to involve Flynn.
Was it related to what happened last night?
When Flynn had dropped Scarlet off, he had mentioned that if he went back early, his relationship with Madeline could improve.
Scarlet suspected that Madeline had gone to the Plenilune Mountain to see Flynn but didn’t dare ask for fear of appearing too nosy. She went back to her room with a heavy heart and couldn’t sleep despite trying until 3 am.
Madeline quickly laughed and said, “It’s nothing!”
She knew that Scarlet was close with Flynn and had become a little fan of him. She couldn’t tell Scarlet about what happened yesterday for fear of causing trouble between them or letting the secret slip out accidentally.
She also told her parents not to talk about it as they all understood how angry Flynn could get if he found out about yesterday’s events; he might even beat up Nathan in anger.
Paulina was angry at Scarlet, “You’re always out and sleeping in when you come home! If you don’t find a job soon, I’ll have your mother take you away!”
Matteo added, “Scarlet, even though Paulina can support you without working right now, young people need jobs.”
Scarlet smiled, “You two misunderstood me. Flynn established a real estate company for Ponocord Bay land development where I work as the manager.”
“I’m going there this afternoon because the Governor is coming over secretly today! Flynn told me the Governor will visit our company too!”
“But please don’t tell anyone about the Governor’s visit yet!”
The Kaur family of three were stunned for a moment but soon understood.
After all, having prior knowledge of the Ponocord Bay development, the Fletcher family couldn’t directly involve themselves to avoid suspicion. They established a company with Flynn as a puppet to carry out the development, secretly directing the operations in the background.
Now that the Governor had come, it was evident that the Fletcher family had the capability to invite him for a company tour.
This indirectly confirmed that the Fletcher family had knowledge of the Ponocord Bay development through the Governor. The Spencer family and the Fletcher family must have some vested interest in that piece of land, and they were keeping it a secret from the public.
“Ah, that’s great! Keep up the good work!” Madeline awkwardly smiled, then turned and went back to her bedroom.
To avoid the awkwardness, the Kaur family began attending to their own matters.
Scarlet furrowed her brows, feeling that something was off.
Normally, after finding out Flynn’s identity, they should have been excited and making a fuss. Yet, it didn’t seem that way now. Were they still in shock, not having fully processed it?
Thinking that Madeline knew about Flynn’s identity, she had disclosed the establishment of the company and even the Governor’s visit.
They should have been eager to contribute their opinions.
Scarlet couldn’t quite figure it out and decided not to dwell on it. She would have to take it one step at a time.
If Flynn and Madeline made amends, she could only blame herself for not having that kind of luck.
…
The Wong family.
After Rose hung up Madeline’s call, Corbin and the others crowded around.
“Ms. Sharp, who called you just now? It seemed like Mr. Clark’s wife?”
“Yes! It sounded like she wants to cooperate with you?”
Rose blinked, unsure why Corbin and the others were so curious. She casually explained, “That’s right. Madeline, Flynn’s wife, called me. She wanted a project, but that project is no longer in my hands.”
Corbin’s eyes gleamed with excitement, quickly asking about Madeline’s situation.
Rose, ever obliging, gave a brief overview before leaving for the Wong family.
“This is great! Mr. Clark won’t be favorably disposed towards us for a while, but we can leverage his wife.”
“Exactly! Let Madeline whisper some sweet words into his ears!”
“Once we sign a contract with Ms. Sharp, let’s quickly find a project. After delivering it to the Kaur family, Mr. Clark will surely understand our sincerity!”
Corbin and the others were excited, chatting briefly before swiftly finalizing their plan.
Having witnessed Flynn’s prowess, they were eager to curry favor with such a godlike figure. Especially Corbin and Tristan, with the double protection of Molly and Flynn, wouldn’t they be able to stride through Niarak unchallenged?
Who would dare to move against them with Molly and Flynn backing them up?
Thinking about this, Corbin grinned.
Braiden, oh Braiden, I almost let you lead me astray. Little did you know, the waste in your mouth is actually a grandmaster!
“Not a big issue; take good care, and within ten days, you’ll fully recover!” Flynn finished examining Abraham’s pulse, stood up, and spoke.
“Prepare a feast! Quickly!” Uriah exclaimed in joy upon hearing Flynn’s assurance. If Flynn said it was fine, then it must be!
Moreover, Abraham’s complexion had indeed improved a lot. He hadn’t eaten much in the last two days, but just now, he managed to have two bowls of rice porridge. The problem must be with that stone.
The Wong family was elated, and the gloom in their hearts dispersed completely.
At that moment, Flynn’s phone rang.
It was Scarlet calling.
“Brother-in-law, something big happened! There’s a major issue with Ponocord Bay!”
An anxious and fearful voice echoed, causing Flynn to furrow his brows. “Slow down, and tell me what happened.”
“Frederick placed several coffins next to our land. According to our workers, the Powell family wants to develop a cemetery nearby! Our workers tried to stop them, but they were beaten, and some are already in the hospital! Brother-in-law, what should we do!”
Scarlet was on the verge of tears. Flynn’s expression darkened abruptly, and he calmly said, “Stay calm, don’t provoke them. Wait nearby, and I’ll be there immediately!”
Upon hearing Flynn’s response, Scarlet finally understood.
Frederick, having suffered a major loss at Orco Real Estate last time, likely planned this in revenge.
After ending the call, Flynn told Uriah and the others, “I have some issues to attend to. I won’t be having dinner. You and Ms. Sharp can finalize things today.”
With that, he left without further explanation.
“Mr. Clark must have encountered some trouble. Should I go help him?” Uriah asked Rose with a serious expression.
Rose shook her head, “Knowing him, you’d likely end up hindering more than helping. Besides, in Niarak, no one can harm him.”
Both the city’s mayor, Travis, and the Pearce family considered him a distinguished guest. Uriah going there wouldn’t make much sense.
Seeing Rose unfazed, Uriah’s nervousness eased, and he turned his attention back to discussing cooperation with Corbin and the others.
Flynn quickly arrived at Ponocord Bay.
Scarlet and her employees were already there, anxiously waiting at the intersection. Upon seeing Flynn, they hurriedly followed him up the hill.
Arriving at the scene, everyone was furious at the sight.
To the west of Orco Real Estate’s thousand acres of land, seven or eight crimson coffins were scattered haphazardly.
Several excavators were parked nearby, seemingly ready to start digging.
There were scattered red spots on the ground, likely bloodstains left by the injured workers.
On one of the excavators, Frederick, smoking a cigarette, watched Flynn and the others with a smug grin.
He was not the one who suffered last time. Having been hit by Flynn, he had been itching for revenge every day. Today, the opportunity had finally arrived.
You have a thousand acres of land in Ponocord Bay, preparing to leverage the scenic area’s development for profit. I’ll lease the mountain to the west of you, and build a large cemetery. Let’s see how you develop real estate!
Forget about lakeside homes; I think cemetery-view homes would work just as well!
You, Flynn, may know the bigwigs in Niarak, but I’ll bring in connections from the state government. Let’s see how you resolve this today!
