This was the first time Flynn had seen Rose cry voluntarily.
He wanted to comfort her, but Rose quickly concealed her soft heart after a brief moment of vulnerability.
She wiped away her tears fiercely, threw the Thodell Mansion key on the table, and resumed her cold demeanor.
“This is the key to Thodell Mansion. The situation has already escalated, and I don’t need to stay another night. Thank you,” she said.
“You don’t have to be so exhausted,” Flynn said.
Rose forced a bitter smile. “This is my last chance. A little pain and exhaustion mean nothing as long as I can die with a clear conscience and face my mother in the afterlife.”
Flynn shook his head lightly. “Have you ever thought that they don’t want you to be so tired? They just want you to live happily.”
“In their hearts, compared with your survival, the Sharp family’s business means nothing.”
“Time passes by quickly; life is fleeting! They can accept the Sharp’s Group going bankrupt.”
“But they cannot accept that you are risking your life!”
“Kevin often praises you in front of me for supporting the Sharp’s Group tirelessly; he also sheds tears frequently.”
“He doesn’t want you to suffer too much while he is helpless in prison. So when I was released from prison, he knelt before me and begged me tearfully to help you…”
Rose trembled at these words and looked absent-mindedly at Kevin’s photo before asking, “Is he okay in prison?”
For ten years now, this was the first time she had taken an initiative about Kevin’s well-being.
“Kevin misses you day and night; he only has one year left.”
“He wants nothing more than death so that he can see your mother again.”
“His fate is sealed now; even if my medical skills were unparalleled, it wouldn’t make any difference.”
Flynn shook his head then left the CEO office directly.
As soon as Flynn left Rose’s office, she burst into tears holding onto Kevin’s picture and choking back sobs uncontrollably.
Flynn left the CEO’s office and headed straight to the Security Department. Finding Deputy Head Orlando Osborn, he instructed him to gather everyone for a meeting.
The Security Department had recently expanded its staff by twenty people, reaching a full complement of fifty. About half of the employees were meeting Flynn for the first time.
In addition, Rose had assigned a secretary, Harriet Hamilton, to the Security Department. She was responsible for commuting matters and also served as Flynn’s secretary, handling miscellaneous tasks.
The girl looked quite obedient, holding a folder as she stood in line, listening to Flynn’s instructions.
“I’m only temporarily working at Energence Pharmaceuticals, and I know nothing about management. I won’t be coming here often,” Flynn explained. “Deputy Head Orlando will be in charge of most of the Security Department’s affairs.”
“There’s no need to say more. You all understand the current situation at Energence Pharmaceuticals. I hope you can fulfill your duties and protect the factory area and Ms. Sharp’s safety.”
“Don’t start trouble, but don’t be afraid of it either. Whoever causes trouble, just handle it well and leave the rest to me!”
Flynn briefly discussed some security issues without lingering too long before adding Orlando’s contact information and heading to the R&D department.
“Orlando, Mr. Clark is so domineering! He comes when he wants to come and doesn’t come when he doesn’t want to? His momentum is even stronger than Ms. Sharp’s! Who is he anyway?”
“No matter who causes trouble, just deal with it first; let him handle everything else? So if a big shot comes over here causing problems, we can offend him too? Mr. Clark has too much swagger!”
“Yeah! Energence Pharmaceuticals is just a small company; what if someone powerful comes over here causing problems? If we beat them up then will Mr. Clark take responsibility for us?”
The new employees in Security had never seen such an informal leader or such an arrogant personality before; they were all shocked.
The veteran employees shook their heads upon hearing these discussions.
“Mr. Clark seems to have some kind of relationship with Ms. Sharp; last time he beat up Mr. Blevins she didn’t hold him accountable but instead made him head of Security.”
“Mr. Clark does indeed have some ability but his attitude is a bit high.”
“This behavior shows that he’s being arrogant because of favoritism; his speech was too proudful so I’m afraid that he won’t stay long in the company.”
When Flynn first came into Security, everyone thought that he had used connections or taken advantage.
But unexpectedly enough Flynn had real skills as evidenced by punching Sage into hospitalization which solidified his reputation among everyone present there.
However, relying on one’s martial arts skills alone while not taking anyone else seriously might seem a bit presumptuous…
…
R&D department
“Mr. Clark!” Katrina stood up quickly upon seeing Flynn enter.
“Gimme the data from both clinical trials,” Flynn nodded as he sat down on the sofa.
Katrina had already prepared everything beforehand so she respectfully handed over what was requested from her drawer.
“The effect was okay but didn’t meet my expectations,” Flynn looked at the data while pondering deeply about something..
“From a clinical perspective, although Bone-Cleansing Pill does not damage the liver and kidneys,” Katrina explained, “it contains a slightly toxic herb called Thunder God Vine, which can cause mild diarrhea in patients who take it.”
“However, this small issue can be easily resolved by adding another herb to the original formula – Wild Bloodwort. It relieves pain and detoxifies while promoting blood circulation and removing stasis. This way, patients won’t experience diarrhea after taking it.”
Pharmacologically speaking, Bone-Cleansing Pill has been quite successful as every medicine has its side effects. In this case, the side effect was just mild diarrhea which is negligible compared to the torment of rheumatoid arthritis.
However, Flynn wanted to make it perfect so he decided to add another herb.
“Wild Bloodwort?” Katrina frowned.
“Mr. Clark,” she continued,” Wild Bloodwort is an expensive medicinal herb that costs two thousand dollars per kilogram or even up to six thousand dollars for older ones with better quality. Moreover, like Northeastern Ginsengs, it’s almost extinct in nature and artificially cultivated herbs have poor efficacy.”
“It’s too difficult to purchase wild bloodworts in bulk!”
Once the new medicine hit the market, a large amount of herbs must be purchased so that there would be a continuous supply of Bone-Cleansing Pills available for sale.
Most of the ingredients used in Bone-Cleansing Pill were common medicinal herbs found on markets which were easy to procure except for wild bloodworts which were hard-to-find natural resources that cannot be bought easily by tons!
Flynn thought for a moment before turning towards Katrina, “The proportion of Wild Bloodwort used in Bone-Cleansing Pill isn’t much, about 60: 1. One tonne of Wild Bloodworts should suffice for producing 10 million pills without any problem.”
“There’s going to be a Traditional Medicine Conference tomorrow where most Ostrad drug dealers will bring their own herbs along with them; there’ll also be an auction event featuring rare medicinal plants at the venue. Let’s see what we can find then.”
“If we still cannot find enough quantity needed, then I’ll contact other people!”
Katrina nodded her head approvingly saying, “Yes! All major drug dealers will come together at this conference; they’re sure to have hoarded some wild bloodworts already!” She paused briefly before changing topics, “Mr. Clark, the clinical trial phase for Bone Cleansing Pills has been completed successfully now; there shouldn’t be any big issues moving forward.”
“I was thinking about taking advantage of this lull period by inviting our team out for dinner sometime soon.”
“Everyone would love an opportunity like that,” she added coyly “I was wondering if you might have some free time?”
Flynn was taken aback momentarily.
Katrina wanted to improve their relationship by inviting Flynn out for a meal, but he wasn’t interested in getting too close to her. After all, Katrina had been very rude to him recently and Flynn didn’t have much of a favorable opinion of her.
Flynn gently placed the documents on the table and was about to decline when the foreign girl from Achela came over with tea and stood opposite Flynn. She leaned over and poured him some tea.
As Flynn reached for the documents, her huge breasts like bombs crushed down onto his hand. As soon as they made contact, it felt like an electric shock ran through his hand causing it to recoil back.
“Mr. Clark, are you okay?” Katrina asked concernedly thinking that he had been scalded by hot water.
Flynn withdrew his gaze coughing slightly before saying, “It’s nothing. I was just admiring how big this teapot is.”
“Oh… no… I meant how fair this teacup is… um… okay then let’s get together after tomorrow’s medical conference!”
