The curses from everyone spread like a plague, quickly filling every corner of the hall. All eyes were directed at Rose with disgust.
Even though Rose was known for her cold and strong demeanor, she couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed by the accusations.
“I knew Flynn was always defending you. I had no idea your relationship was so intimate,” someone sneered.
Lilia heard the commotion and walked over to Rose with a smile on her face. “Ms. Sharp, you have lost all your useful allies and are left with no one,” she said.
“It’s not easy finding someone to help you out, so of course you have to pay him well.”
“But is it worth it for you to stoop so low as to offer yourself up like that?” Lilia asked, looking directly at Flynn with disdain in her eyes.
Kimber also chimed in, “Ms. Sharp, you’re just like our Missy – an ice queen beauty.”
“You can’t have our Missy, so are you trying to replace her with Ms. Sharp?” Kimber continued mockingly.
“Hmph! Ms. Sharp is only using you. How could she ever be interested in someone like you?”
“Do you even look in the mirror when you wake up? You’re vulgar, cowardly, poor and despicable! How dare you think that an ice queen beauty would ever be interested in someone like yourself!”
“You’re not only unworthy of our Missy but also unworthy of Ms. Sharp.”
“Face reality. Your worlds are too different for any kind of love story between the two!”
Flynn looked at both women incredulously before asking irritably, “What’s wrong with both of you? I haven’t even said anything yet and already both of y’all are attacking me like crazy people!”
“How dare you speak that way! Do you know who we are?” Kimber fumed angrily while Lilia’s face turned darkened as well.
But Flynn remained indifferent, “Kevin saved my life while he was imprisoned. It’s only natural that I do everything possible now to help Rose.”
“Gratitude should be repaid tenfold. This is just basic human decency.”
“Unlike some ungrateful wretches who received favors from the Sharp’s Group for over a decade yet still want their benefactors dead!”
“I’ll tell you something else: If you want lives where food and clothing come easily without worry, then go back home quietly now!”
“The Sharp’s Group which you swallowed up will be taken back by us.”
“If you willingly give yourselves up, then maybe there’s still hope for redemption. Otherwise, prepare yourselves because we’re going destroy all three families!”
“You can think what I’m saying right now is bullshit if you want, but I won’t waste my breath explaining anything more than this.”
“You just need to know that if you dare to interfere with Rose’s affairs again, I will break your hands!”
“Don’t think Layla is on your side, I won’t hesitate.”
“She’s just a speck of dust in my eyes. Even if the three of you join forces, you’re nothing but three grasshoppers!”
“The reason why I urgently want to help Rose is not only because of gratitude but also because I want to slap Layla’s arrogant face hard!”
“I want to see if that woman still dares to act superior and continue her cold facade in front of me after everything settles down.”
“And you two idiots, don’t bring up me and Layla again in the future!”
“As both of you have said, I am a vulgar person.”
“If I’m unhappy, rubbing your pretty faces on the ground might not make you happy either!”
Flynn’s rapid-fire words silenced everyone present.
Was this guy crazy or what?!
Flynn’s attitude infuriated Lilia and made Kimber clench her fists so tightly that her lips trembled.
Everyone they had met before was polite beyond measure. How could they have ever encountered someone as rude and crude as Flynn? And threatening them by saying he would rub their faces on the ground? It was too much!
Rose had been holding back all this time but hearing Flynn say these outrageous things made her furrow her brows involuntarily.
Flynn went too far.
He did have some connections with the Richardson family and the Pearce family and could attract investments based on his own abilities.
But compared with the Swanson, Woods and Hussain families – well-known families throughout several sates – he was still lacking considerably.
In business competition, it all came down to connections, funds and tactics.
In terms of connections alone, all three families had friends at or above sate level. When it came down to funds, their market value exceeded billions while being able to attract vast amounts more through influence alone. Finally when it came down tactics, having been established for over 100 years meant these were seasoned veterans who knew how best handle crises while also having many experts within their ranks.
Lilia’s Dragon Gate Group had close ties with the Eight Extremities School while Layla held immense power herself. Aside from being part of the Woods family, the giant ship, she herself had befriended many high-ranking officials worth billions themselves through medical expertise alone.
All Rose could do now was endure humiliation while slowly developing herself further.
Flynn was causing trouble from the start, aggravating the conflict between the three families. How were they supposed to continue fighting like this?
“Oh sure, I’ll just wait for you to give me a big slap in the face.”
“I’d love to see what kind of storm a newly released convict can stir up!” Lilia seethed through her teeth.
Kimber chimed in with disdain, “Looks like we’ve got an incompetent hothead on our hands.”
“And let’s not forget that you wanted to break Ms. Hussain’s hand and slap my lady’s face!”
“You’re nothing but a lowly peasant. If it weren’t for Ms. Hussain coming out herself, you wouldn’t even have had the chance to see her. So how dare you try and hit them?”
“My lady broke off your engagement and hurt your pride.”
“And so you joined Rose’s side hoping to prove yourself. But what good did that do?” Kimber scoffed.
“You should go back and check your dictionary for what ‘gnat shakes tree’ means!”
“Gnat shakes tree?” Flynn sneered at their words before adding his own twist, “I may not be able to stir up a storm because every time I move it causes a tsunami!”
“And I don’t bother shaking trees because all it takes is one gentle push from me and they turn into sawdust!”
If these words came from someone of great power or influence, perhaps there would be some intimidation factor. But coming from Flynn only elicited endless laughter at his expense.
“Who do you think you are? Their families are worth billions! They could make you disappear with just one snap of their fingers!” someone jeered at him.
“Rose is just starting out so they need to be careful with everything they do. And yet here comes Flynn stirring up trouble with all three families! Rose must regret ever getting involved with him,” another person chimed in mockingly
“A tsunami and sawdust? Let’s not forget where everyone is sitting today. Ms. Hussain will always be ahead of them all. Her brilliance will always overshadow Rose.”
Everyone couldn’t help but shake their heads as they wondered where Flynn got his confidence from when he dared talk back even against Lilia and Layla who were known for being tough opponents themselves!
He was nothing more than an arrogant thug!
If he was really as powerful as he claimed, then why couldn’t he even secure himself a front-row seat?
Lilia waved her hand dismissively before saying calmly, “That’s enough nonsense for today. I’m here to buy ‘Phoenix Emerges from Vast Sea’. I don’t want this clown ruining my mood anymore. Let’s go back up front.”
River also spoke up then, smiling apologetically towards Lilia, “Ms. Hussain, you have mentioned how disgusting these smelly dogs are down here. Let us go upstairs instead.”
“Let these two clowns sit in the back row and wallow in self-pity as they watch your back disappear!”
As soon as the words left his mouth, Alfie, the person in charge of the art exhibition, appeared at the front of the exhibition hall.
He scanned around and when he saw Flynn sitting in the last row, he jogged over to this side.
