Chapter 151 Already Low-Key Enough

Book:A King Reborn in Shadows Published:2024-6-4

Madeline looked at the silver Koenigsegg in disbelief. She couldn’t believe Flynn had actually driven a multi-million dollar car here.
Scarlet stood by, feeling defeated as if something precious had been taken away from her.
“Miss Mcguire, you promised earlier that if I drove the Koenigsegg, you would apologize to my wife. Let’s get on with it,” Flynn said coldly.
“Don’t push your luck and cross the line!” Danna threatened in a low voice. “Think twice before you act! My brother is the leader of Eight Extremities School!”
“I don’t care about your brother or his school. Even if he were here, he’d have to kneel and speak to me,” Flynn sneered disdainfully.
“If you don’t apologize today, I’ll break your legs!”
Danna’s body shook violently as fear flashed across her eyes.
“I don’t hit women,” Flynn took a step forward and stared into Danna’s eyes. “But in my eyes, you’re not even human.”
Danna remembered Ismael’s fate and shuddered uncontrollably again. This guy was too brutal when it came to hitting people, especially slapping them around their faces. If she were disfigured by him, she wouldn’t be able to attract any men anymore!
Thinking of this possibility made Danna walk over to Madeline and gritted her teeth while saying, “I’m sorry. I was wrong.”
“It’s okay. It was just a misunderstanding… a simple one.” Madeline snapped out of her shock and put on a smiley face while trying to ease things up between them all.
Danna glared at Madeline evilly before turning away from everyone else without another word spoken from her mouth.
“Let’s go!” Madeline pulled Scarlet into the car.
She gave Flynn a look, signaling him to leave quickly, then started the car and left the villa.
Knowing that Danna wouldn’t sincerely back down, Flynn gave her a cold look before getting into the Koenigsegg and leaving the Fish Dragon Villa.
“Why is this guy so rich? Is he someone important? He just got out of prison not long ago! Could it be that he rented the car to show off?”
“Oh my god! It’s actually possible! Renting for ten thousand a day isn’t that expensive relative to other things. Damn it! We’ve been fooled!”
“I was too shocked earlier and didn’t think about it. Now that I think about it, it’s probably true. He just got out of prison and needs recognition, so he rented a luxury car to show off his status. Playing hard on the court is also his way of proving himself!”
Danna also realized this and clenched her fists in anger as she looked in Flynn’s direction.
“That bastard dared to play me!”
“Just wait. I’ll make sure Frederick peels your skin off!”

The Volkswagen Beetle drove ten miles before suddenly stopping.
The Koenigsegg behind also hit the brakes.
Madeline walked down with a gloomy face and knocked on Flynn’s car window coldly asking, “Do you think this is fun?”
“I don’t understand what you’re saying.” Flynn frowned.
Madeline felt like she had been too harsh with her words and took a deep breath before speaking calmly, “After you were released from prison, you didn’t let go of any opportunity to prove yourself. I know you want recognition.”
“But please don’t use such childish methods to gain attention okay? This will only backfire and make people look down on you even more.”
Flynn was stunned after hearing this and furrowed his brows deeper as he asked in confusion, “I’m already successful enough, why do I still need to prove myself?”
“As for what you said about gaining attention, I can tell you clearly that I have been low-key enough!”
“Low-key?” Madeline chuckled softly before saying, “You rented a Koenigsegg just to show off your wealth but claim that you’re low-key? Spending over ten thousand dollars on something meaningless like this instead of using the money elsewhere… isn’t there anything better than this?”
“Rented?” Flynn finally understood why Madeline was angry as he explained, “What are you kidding?! This car belongs to me!”
“Stubborn,” Madeline crossed her arms around her chest while sneering coldly, “Alright then if it’s yours, then take out the vehicle registration certificate and let me see if your name is written on top.”
Every vehicle has its own VRC which shows who owns the car by looking at whose name appears at the top.
“Vehicle registration certificate?” Flynn explained, “Um… the name on the registration isn’t actually mine, because this car was given to me by someone else and I haven’t transferred it yet.”
Madeline dismissed Flynn’s “lame” explanation with a shake of her head and a cold snort. “I knew it, you would use such crippled excuses to get away with it!”
Renting was renting, lies were exposed, and then he pulled out the excuse that someone else gave it to him. He talked big but had no ability.
The lie can’t be sustained any longer, so he found excuses again. It was just ridiculous!
Madeline was completely speechless at Flynn’s stubborn mouth and turned back into her own car.
“Madeline, can I ride in Flynn’s car for a spin?” Scarlet jumped into the passenger seat of the Koenigsegg.
She had been listening on the side while they were talking and her smile grew stronger as she listened more closely. She felt that there was something meant to be about all this and cherished every opportunity that came along even more.
This also made Scarlet understand one thing – if you like someone, even if your mouth is full of lies, she will believe them as true; if you don’t like someone, no matter how much you explain yourself she won’t believe you or even have patience for another minute of understanding.
“A spin?” Madeline frowned deeply when she heard Scarlet’s words. In her impression Scarlet wasn’t materialistic nor interested in luxury goods or fancy cars at all. Why would she want to ride in such an expensive car now? To satisfy her vanity?
“As expected, those who associate with red become red themselves; those who associate with black become black themselves.” Madeline stepped on the gas pedal without looking back and left without another word.
“Flynn, are you angry?” Scarlet blinked big eyes at him curiously.
Flynn replied calmly, “No! Anyway she never believed me before so I’m used to it.”
“My mother and I received Mr. Kaur’s kindness when we were in Niarak. I came here not only to investigate my mother’s enemies but also repay his kindness.”
“Investigate enemies?” Scarlet asked puzzledly, “Last time Layla came to the Kaur family, Mr. Kaur mentioned your background, saying that the Clark family was pursuing both you and your mother, right?”
Flynn shook his head lightly, “In addition to the Clark family there is another force which is larger than it.”
“I have a vague feeling that Mr. Kaur knows something but he keeps silent about it because he knows I will seek revenge,” Flynn continued thoughtfully.
“You’ve lived in the Kaur family for so long now. Did he ever mention anything related?”
“Is there another force at play?”
Scarlet thought for a moment, shaking her head. “Mr. Kaur never mentioned your mother in front of us.”
“But after you went to prison, I often saw him sneak out to the balcony to make phone calls and he mentioned your mother’s name a few times.”
“And there’s one more thing that’s puzzling me – he never goes to pay respects on your mother’s memorial day.”
