Lilly POV
I stopped abruptly on the spot, as I was welcomed by the least expected person, it was that jerk that threw my hairpin away, if you’re still confused about who I’m talking about, then it’s our new coach. Wait! How did he know about this place and why’s he here?
“Hello, aunt!” He smiled at mom like a gentleman he’s not, while I just scoffed unbelievably. This dude is obviously losing his mind, and this whole thing is confusing, it’s damn crazy.
“Hello young man, I don’t think I’ve seen your face before, how may I be of help, please?” Mom asked him, and I chipped in.
“Mom…, go have some rest, I’ll take it up from here.” I said to mom, and she gave me an ‘are you sure’ look. I nodded, giving her an assuring smile and with that, she turned and walked back inside, while I stared at her till she was out of sight. I sighed softly and turned to glare at that jerk, who was still standing in front of the door. I don’t know his name, and I don’t ever want to know, he’s a jerk and will always remain one.
“Aren’t you going to let me in?” He asked, smiling foolishly. Oh, God! Why do I have to see him of all people? Why does he have to be the first person I saw this morning?
“I didn’t remember asking you to come over here, so why should I let you in, huh? And by the way, how the heck did you know of this place, and what are you doing here?” I inquired, glaring at him.
“Come on, that’s the height of it all, you can’t possibly do this to someone who came down here to see you, right? How I knew about this place, is not important, what matters is that I’m here now, and you should let me in.” He smiled, and I rolled my eyes. Why do I have to be frustrated this early morning?
I glared at him for almost two minutes, before I finally left the door opened for him, and he walked in. I closed the door behind me and walked straight into the kitchen, not sparing him a glance.
“Jerk!” I huffed angrily as I started washing the dishes.
“Wow! You’re so handsome, Lilly never told me about you.” I heard mom chuckled from the living room, and my eyes narrowed. I thought I told her to go rest? How come she’s having a chat with that jerk? If only she knows how much I hate him, I’m sure she wouldn’t talk to him. Wait! Did mom just tell him that he’s handsome? That’s one hell of an expensive joke, he must be feeling so good about himself now.
“Thank you, aunt. I just got transferred to the school.” I heard him chuckle, and I rolled my eyes. I didn’t hear mom ask when he got transferred to the school, so what’s the need of being a talkative?
“Wow! So tell me, how’s my princess doing in school? Is she lively?” I heard mom ask, and that’s it! I quickly dropped the plates and washed my hand before rushing into the living room. I know he hates me as much as I do to him, and I wouldn’t want him lying to mom.
“Mom he just got transferred to the school, and we’re not that close, so can you rest and stop questioning him already?” I spoke up, as I went to sit beside mom. Seeing the smile on her face, I couldn’t be less happy. I can’t remember the last time she smiled this genuinely after the death of dad, and to think that the person I hate so much is making her so happy now, it’s weird.
“Oh! But…”
“Uhm…, why don’t you come to help me in the kitchen?” I cut mom off, referring to that jerk. He smirked at me and nodded.
“Sure. Auntie, I’ll be back.” He smiled at mom before he finally followed me into the kitchen.
“I repeat, what are you doing here?” I asked while cleaning the plates with the small towel in my hand, while he just leaned against the wall, crossing his arms on his chest.
“Well, let’s just say that I was just trying to be a gentleman. What were you expecting, huh? You’ve been away from school for three days now, you didn’t answer your phone, neither did you tell anyone about where you were going. What were you expecting, huh? Who does that?” He shrugged, and I scoffed unbelievably.
“And how’s that any of your business?” I asked, crossing my arms on my chest.
“When you’re ready to go, meet me outside.” He said, and with that, he left the kitchen…
Author POV
He walked gracefully out of the house and went to sit in his car, different thoughts parading his mind. Suddenly, he felt something pumping in his chest, and slowly he took his hand to feel what it was and turned out that it was his heart. He sighed softly and rested his head on the headrest while closing his eyes.
“I need her here, we need her to get Kai.” The masculine voice echoed in his head, and he sighed deeply. They want her, but for some reason, for some unknown reason, he wasn’t happy about it, he suddenly wants to protect her.
“Aren’t you going to drive?” Lily’s voice pulled him back to reality, and that was when he realized that he wasn’t the only one in the car, she had joined him.
“When did you get in?” He asked and scoffed while she just rolled her eyes. If only she knows how much she hates him, then trying to talk to her would’ve been the last thing on his mind.
“Let me go say hi to…”
“No need, let’s get going already. She’s asleep.” She cuts him off, looking out of the window.
He stared at her for seconds then shrugged and set the car in motion.
Again, her mind wandered off to the world of trance, and slowly her eyes brimmed with tears, which flooded down her cheeks in split seconds. She couldn’t still bring herself to believe that it was true, her dad was killed by a vampire. What reason do they have to take the life of a good man? What right do they have her happiness away from her? Those were the questions that kept parading her mind without an answer, and she could only be sad.
“You’re OK?” He asked as he glanced at her through the visor, but she was far away in deep thoughts that she didn’t hear him, so he decided to let her be.
After what seemed like forever, he finally stopped the car in front of the dorm, bringing her back to reality.
“Thank you.” She muttered and made to hop out of the car, but he stopped her.
“Here…” He said, while holding out her hairpin, and her eyes narrowed…
