“Flynn, are you done yet?” Madeline angrily shook off his hand. “Stop being so suspicious, okay?”
“They’re discussing business, why did you have to go over there?”
“Don’t mess with Alan anymore, okay? I’m begging you. Please!”
Madeline was so angry that she was about to cry.
Flynn’s pettiness and constant harassment of Alan were beyond her comprehension.
Scarlet also thought that something was wrong with Alan and tried to advise her cousin, “Madeline, I think…”
“Shut up!” Madeline pointed at the door and scolded them. “If either of you says one more word about Alan, leave this place immediately!”
Scarlet shrank back and dared not speak again.
Meanwhile…
Rose was still struggling. The Dragon Bone Pill was her only advantage – a guarantee for the Sharp family’s comeback.
Although Rose had known River since childhood and he was Tinley’s godson, she still felt uneasy about giving him the formula as an outsider.
But after the Sharp family went bankrupt, the Stewart family spared no effort in helping her pay off 7 million in debt. They even bought Davies’ Pharmaceuticals for her with their own money.
The head of the Stewart family was injured by Scarface in his attempt to save her…
“Okay!” Rose handed over the formula and looked at River with a meaningful expression. “You know my personality – I repay kindness with gratitude, but also revenge. I hope you can protect this formula and not let it fall into the wrong hands.”
River’s heart trembled.
Rose was tough as steel, having dealt with several high-ranking members who betrayed the Sharp family using extreme measures. She didn’t hesitate to break her uncle’s leg during an internal feud within their family. She even kept an urn in her office, ready for a fight to the death against their company’s rivals.
Despite being crushed by three multi-billion dollar capital companies, Rose held on for eight years through sheer determination and resourcefulness. Her reputation as an iron lady was well-deserved – she always repaid any grudges she had.
However, now that Rose was like a phoenix without wings, she wasn’t much of a threat anymore!
“Rose, my family will never betray the Sharp family – you can always trust me!” River left with Alan from the hall.
Not far away…
A chubby man with big ears walked over and smiled at Madeline. “Miss, Alexander was feeling a bit tired earlier so I let him go back to the rest area.”
“But Alexander doesn’t want to disappoint his fans, he wants to invite you to the rest area for an autograph.”
“Sure! Scarlet, wait here. I’ll have Alexander sign one for you too!” Madeline couldn’t hide her excitement as she followed the man backstage.
Alexander was reading a magazine.
His finely chiseled face, handsome nose and lips as pink as cherry blossoms were breathtaking. He wore a dazzling diamond earring on his right ear. His skin was fair and well-maintained; if he grew out his hair, he could easily pass for 80% of women.
“Hi, Alexander!” Madeline bowed slightly and nervously greeted him.
Alexander smirked mischievously, put down the magazine and pointed beside him with a smile, “Come sit here.”
Madeline didn’t think twice before sitting down.
The agent gently closed the door behind them.
As Alexander signed autographs he asked, “How long have you liked me?”
“I’ve liked you since your debut. I’ve been following your albums and TV dramas. My cousin also likes you,” said Madeline shyly.
Alexander nodded and smiled, “Cousin? You mean the cute girl with big eyes earlier? She’s pretty, but I prefer someone like you.” He handed her the autograph.
Madeline felt strange after hearing this. As she reached for the autograph, Alexander lightly touched her hand. A surge of electricity ran from her hand to her brain, causing her face to turn red.
Alexander’s lips curved into a smile as he leaned in close to Madeline’s ear and whispered seductively, “I like you. Do you want to be my girlfriend?”
Boom!
Madeline trembled and went blank for a moment. The two were only inches apart; she could even hear his heartbeat and anticipate his next move.
“Uh… Alexander, don’t… I already have a husband.”
Madeline moved away slightly while her heart pounded like a deer in headlights. She wore a light green dress today that accentuated her slender waistline. Her chest was partially exposed due to the low neckline of the black bra underneath it – revealing one-third of its curvaceous whiteness that resembled ripe summer peaches.
Alexander glanced down at Madeline’s chest and felt his lower abdomen heat up again as he whispered softly once more, “It doesn’t matter…”
He gently held Madeline’s pretty face in his hands before turning it towards him slowly; at the same time, one of his hands reached out towards Madeline’s bra…
After Madeline followed the agent to the VIP room, Flynn quickly walked towards Rose.
“Why did River bring Alan over?” he asked.
Rose replied nonchalantly, “It’s nothing.”
Flynn furrowed his brow. “If you want me to help you, then I need to know everything about your situation.”
With a cold and emotionless gaze, Rose retorted, “When did I say that I needed your help?”
“I don’t need it! Thanks anyway!”
As he looked at this woman’s haughty attitude, he couldn’t help but think of hanging her and Layla up together and giving them a good beating.
“Forget it. People like Alan and River are just insignificant ants who can’t make any waves,” Flynn muttered as he pulled out the bone jade from his pocket and handed it over. “This is yours. You left it in my car last time.”
“This thing is made from the bones of someone who died violently. Wearing it will affect your luck. It’s better if you throw it away,” he warned skeptically.
“This was a gift from River’s mother to my mother. They’ve known each other for decades; how could she give my mother something evil?” she added defensively.
“The Stewart family?” Flynn frowned slightly before saying, “One should always be cautious of others’ intentions; even blood brothers can turn against each other for their own interests-let alone friends.”
“Think carefully about whether or not your mother had any issues after wearing this pendant,” he advised her seriously with concern etched on his face.
“Do you often experience dizziness when you have been in contact with the bone jade for a long time?” Flynn asked.
Rose furrowed her brow. Flynn was right. Tinley would often talk to herself and become easily agitated after wearing the jade pendant.
After her mother passed away, Rose kept the bone jade as a memento. Although she didn’t wear it, she would often take it out to remember her mother and that was when the dizziness started occurring.
Rose thought about it for a moment before shaking her head. “It’s not possible! My mother used to work until late at night, so maybe she just had some mental issues due to fatigue.”
“I’m the same way. After my mother passed away, I would stay at work for half a month straight sometimes.”
“I would only sleep three hours a day during the toughest times. I think it was just exhaustion catching up with me.”
When Tinley was alive, the Sharp’s Group was on an upward trend but when Rose took over, things started going downhill fast.
Both periods were exhausting and Rose believed that work-related stress could be causing their problems.
Before Flynn could say anything else, Madeline came running out from backstage.
Her hair was disheveled, tears streaked down her face, and she had even lost one of her high heels!
