Harry fell to the ground, his face not hit, but his nose kept bleeding, alarming those in the corridor.
“Oh no, someone has fallen, doctors and nurses, come and check…”
“Who has fallen?”
“Why did he suddenly collapse, just saw him swaying all the way over here, something was not right, he went in and came out shortly after and collapsed, in that room.”
“Isn’t that him…”
Hattie heard the commotion outside, hearing people say Harry fainted, she didn’t feel much in her heart, she even found it amusing.
It was she who was being operated on, bleeding was from her, and the one in pain was still her, yet she hadn’t collapsed even with IV fluids, but he collapsed first.
Collapsing just after leaving her room, those who didn’t know would think she had done something to him.
Although the little nurse didn’t like Harry, she was still a staff member here and couldn’t just watch him have an accident in front of her, so she quickly went out to see the situation when she heard noise outside.
Seeing Harry unconscious on the ground, she couldn’t lift him alone, so she quickly called the doctor to come and take him for a checkup.
Seeing Harry being taken away, the pool of blood on the ground was too obvious to ignore.
The little nurse quickly called the cleaning lady to clean up the blood, she returned to the room and said, “Harry fainted and had a nosebleed, I saw his complexion was very bad, like he had some serious illness.”
Hattie sarcastically commented, “He does have an illness, a mental illness.”
“Miss Mason, don’t you feel a bit pleased to see Harry like this now?”
“Perhaps…” Hattie didn’t want to mention Harry too much, so she responded to the nurse with as few words as possible, then simply closed her eyes.
What does it matter to her how Harry is? Whether he lives or dies is not important, even if he dies in front of her now, she wouldn’t shed a tear.
But what she never expected was that Harry did indeed have an accident.
The medical staff took the fainting Harry downstairs for some tests, with needles in his hand for IV fluids, the doctor found some abnormalities in his blood, but couldn’t determine what disease it was, so they had to wait for him to wake up for a detailed examination.
Harry woke up after sleeping a whole day, thinking his headache and dizziness were due to lack of sleep, but he found that even after sleeping for so long, his headache was still severe.
Seeing him awake, the nurse immediately called the attending physician.
The attending physician came over, “Mr. Stewart, do you feel any discomfort in your body after waking up?”
“My head hurts a bit, give me some painkillers.” As he spoke, Harry wanted to get up from the bed, but with a slight movement, his head hurt even more.
He had always had a good tolerance for pain, frequently experiencing headaches over the years, thinking he had gotten used to it, but the headaches had become increasingly severe with time, sometimes severe enough to keep him awake.
How did his headaches start?
It seemed like a long time ago, but at that time they were too mild, took some painkillers, and they ended; he didn’t go to the hospital. Later, during the two years Hattie was in prison, the headaches became more severe.
Seeing him move, the doctor hurried over to hold him down, reminding him, “Mr. Stewart, you better lie down and rest now, and I need to ask you some questions, how long have you had this headache?”
“For a long time.” Harry’s vision started to blur, and he had to close his eyes, his ears buzzing loudly, his mind twitching, congested, bloated, as if something inside was swelling and about to explode, he had to furrow his brow tightly, thinking he had had headaches before, enduring it would pass.
The doctor continued, “Do you often have nosebleeds?”
“When the weather is dry, I have nosebleeds, but not serious…”
“But it’s spring now, and the weather is not dry.”
Harry realized he had been ignoring a lot of things, he often had headaches, and now he often had nosebleeds, would a normal person be like this?
He had never really cared about his health, now he realized he hadn’t just not cared, he had been ignoring, like how he usually ignored Hattie’s feelings.
Harry opened his eyes, enduring the pain, he asked the doctor, “Just tell me, what disease do I have?”
“Preliminary diagnosis is brain cancer, we need to do a CT scan of your brain and an EEG test, and you will need chemotherapy.”
“Brain cancer?” Harry felt as if thunder had struck him, his whole body stiffened in bed, time seemed to stop at that moment, it felt like a long time passed.
Harry reluctantly pulled his lips into a smile, throat hoarse, questioning, “Are you sure the diagnosis is correct…”
The doctor in front of him looked at him with a complex gaze, he had seen this look before many times, pity mixed with regret, when his parents died in the hospital, when Hattie had a miscarriage.
But Harry never expected to receive such a look himself.
The throbbing pain in his head seemed to remind him that he indeed had brain cancer. When he didn’t know he was ill before, he thought the headaches were normal and bearable, but now hearing the doctor say he most likely had brain cancer, Harry realized he couldn’t bear it, the pain would make him have nosebleeds, his eyes would blur, and his hearing would fail.
