Harry couldn’t stand Hattie’s mocking gaze, so after receiving a slap, he leaned in and kissed Hattie, grabbing her chin tightly.
He kissed her lips, only to be met by her sharp teeth.
His lips were quickly bitten, and the taste of blood spread between them.
Harry didn’t flinch, continuing to gently kiss her. His kisses to Hattie always felt forceful and intense, as if he wanted to devour her, unlike any gentle kiss she had experienced before.
He was cautious, treating her as fragile.
The gentle kiss seeped deep into her heart, tender and sorrowful, wanting to melt her heart secretly.
But Hattie’s heart was already broken, she was no longer an innocent girl, not willing to hand over her heart for a gentle kiss.
The taste of blood in her mouth became stronger, until he stopped, and Hattie’s sharp teeth didn’t release his lower lip.
After a moment, Hattie let go, leaning to the side to spit out the blood in her mouth, staining the sheets red.
The blood was all Harry’s, she hated Harry, really wanting to bite him to death, to suck his blood dry!
Harry could feel Hattie’s hatred, wiping his mouth, feeling the burning sensation, swallowing the blood in his mouth. “Teeth can hurt deeper than hands, if you’re still not satisfied, you can keep biting until you are.”
“I feel nauseous, if you really want me to satisfy you, then jump off this eighteen-story building.”
“If I jump and die, who will take care of you?” Harry fell into paranoia, not seeing the disgust in her eyes, continuing, “Hattie, can we stop fighting? The child is gone, Fiona and those who hurt you, I’ve sent them away. It’ll just be the two of us from now on, I won’t force you, even if you treat me as a brother like before.”
Even though Harry may have meant it casually, calling each other brother even in bed, Hattie still felt contaminated.
Hattie squinted, a knot in her chest. “We can never be good together, Harry. I really wanted to bite you to death just now, but I don’t have the strength.”
“But, it would be too easy for you to die like that. People like you should live a long life, lonely and unfulfilled, never getting what they want, seeking but not finding, better off dead…”
Harry’s heart raced, interrupting her. “That won’t happen, I will have you with me forever, we’ll live together until old age.”
Hattie smiled, no one knew what she was smiling at, but her lifeless expression made people uneasy.
“Fiona should be in the police station by now.”
“Yes.”
“Harry, don’t you hate me? I called the police and caught your lover, oh, also…” Hattie paused, laughing self-deprecatingly. “With your incredible abilities, you could probably get Fiona, the murderer, out of jail in minutes. If you care for her so much, wanting to repay her kindness, why don’t you marry her? You two are like two peas in a pod, causing harm to others when together.”
Hattie had reached her breaking point, Harry was at a loss. He needed to make a decision. “Fiona can’t go to jail…”
“If she can’t go, I can go, you have quite the nerve!”
Harry tried to assure her, “Hattie, I promise this is the last time. Someone will always keep an eye on her.”
Hattie smirked, “Having someone watch her forever? That’s quite the punishment, Harry. I admire your tactics. Do you want me to have a few more people watch her?”
“What…” Harry didn’t quite understand her meaning.
Hattie’s smile turned eerie, “Have you not checked the internet on your phone yet?”
As she spoke, footsteps could be heard in the hallway, and the assistant who had left not long ago returned.
“Mr. Harry, there’s an issue on Miss Fiona’s end.”
“You didn’t pick up?” Harry didn’t want to discuss Fiona in front of Hattie. If she hadn’t picked up, he would have to step in.
“It’s not… she did pick up, but someone leaked the news that it was Miss Fiona who poisoned someone, and also Miss Hattie…” The assistant glanced at Hattie, who was lying in bed with a meaningful smile.
Hattie said, “Go on, I don’t mind.”
The assistant swallowed nervously, looking at Harry. “And Miss Mason had a miscarriage and her relationship with you…”
Before the assistant could finish speaking, more medical staff entered.
“There are a lot of journalists outside, wanting to interview Miss Mason. Is she awake?”
“She’s awake.”
One thing after another happened, leaving everyone in shock. Hattie tried to get up, even though she had just undergone surgery and shouldn’t leave the bed. Harry blocked her path.
Hattie looked coldly at him, “Harry, don’t force me to die right now, move!”
“You’re not fit to go out.”
Hattie looked at the nurse standing nearby, “Can you please fetch a wheelchair for me?”
“Sure, I’ll go now.” The nurse quickly returned with a wheelchair.
Hattie insisted on going out, with an IV still in her hand. After temporarily stopping the fluid, it could be resumed without having to reinsert the needle.
The nurse discreetly pushed Harry aside and effortlessly lifted Hattie from the bed onto the wheelchair. Hattie had become thin and frail, making it easy for the nurse to move her.
Her hand was cold due to the IV fluids, even though the room was air-conditioned.
Sitting in the wheelchair, Hattie looked withered, like a soulless doll. Harry knew he couldn’t stop her; she was fighting him with only half a life left. If he dared to use any force against her, she would indeed follow through with her threat to die.
Perhaps Harry could leave behind many things for Hattie, but he couldn’t preserve her life. She had ways to end her life, and she was determined to seek revenge on Harry and Fiona.
Harry moved his lips, but couldn’t say a word. The pain in his heart lingered as he watched Hattie in the wheelchair, her sickly face, delicate wrists. It felt like she could be swept away by a gust of wind.
After bringing Hattie back, they had taken care of her nutrition for pregnancy, but her health deteriorated, with more injuries. It seemed that everything he had hoped for with Hattie had always been contrary.
