Tobias said, “If you take too much medicine, it naturally tastes bitter in your mouth.”
Hamish took a deep breath and looked down at the bracelet on his wrist. This bracelet, which had a lock, was originally worn on Elisa’s wrist, but now it was on his wrist.
At first, the size was not right and it was tight when he first put it on. But over time, it became more suitable as it gradually adjusted.
He still remembered that it was Elisa’s birthday. She was lying in his arms, and he carefully put the bracelet on her hand.
He told her that only he could unlock this bracelet.
But in the end, it was Elisa who unlocked the bracelet with her life, as her burned wrist fell from her hand in the raging fire.
After a mouthful of food, Hamish looked at the sunlight outside the window.
“The air feels stuffy. Open the window for some fresh air,” he said.
“It’s winter now, and opening the window will bring in the cold wind. You’re weak right now and easily prone to catching a cold,” Tobias patiently explained.
“But it’s a sunny day outside. I can see the sunlight. How can it be cold? If you don’t open it, I’ll do it myself,” Hamish insisted and was about to get up to open the window. Unable to resist, Tobias reluctantly used the remote control to open the window.
As soon as the window opened, a gust of wind blew in. Hamish faced the window and shivered as the wind hit him. Even the gentle winter wind was chilling.
As soon as Tobias came in, he noticed the live streaming video playing on the computer with the camera rotating around the couple. Elisa’s gentle and sweet voice could be heard from inside.
She said, “I am willing to marry Louis, choose him as my husband, and spend my remaining years with him, through good times and bad, wealth and poverty, health and sickness. I will love him without reservation until the end of my life. I will defy my instincts, against my nature, and be loyal to him, respect him, take care of him, and help him. I will share my life with him, starting from our first meeting until we grow old together.”
Today was a good day. Hamish watched as Elisa happily married someone else, and he congratulated her in his heart for finding a new love.
Hamish ate his soup with his head down, unaware that tears were falling into it.
There was nothing really sad about it. Everything had just returned to its original state, and he had nothing to begin with.
After a few more bites, Hamish couldn’t eat anymore. His body lacked the necessary nutrition, so he had to receive a nutrient infusion in the end.
The nutrient infusion came in a large bag, and it took about an hour for the liquid to flow through. Even though there was heating in the room, his hands were still cold. It was so cold that he couldn’t even hold a fist.
After Tobias finished cleaning up and left, Hamish moved to the computer again. This time, he turned off the computer and set up a camera instead. Facing the camera, he moved his lips and thought for a while, not knowing what to say.
After a long silence, he finally spoke, “Let this be a sentence for my twenty-year-old self…”

The White family is now managed by Mr. White and Brittany. After the wedding, Elisa temporarily assigned her work to others and freed up time to go on a honeymoon with Louis.
Louis’s condition has also improved. He rarely has nightmares or sleepwalks, and his mood gets better every day.
Before the new year, the two returned to Quokka. Elisa had gained a few pounds, with a healthy and radiant face. Without any pressure, all she did was sleep or eat.
The White family had a tradition of getting a yearly check-up. The date was fixed. Elisa had a fear of going to the hospital, especially for check-ups.
She still remembered a few years ago when she went for a comprehensive check-up, spent thousands of dollars, and ended up being diagnosed with stomach cancer.
However, this time was different. She wasn’t going to the hospital alone; she had her family with her, especially Louis by her side.
Louis seemed to sense her nervousness and held her hand. “Don’t worry. Your body is in good shape, and they won’t find anything wrong. I will be with you all the way.”
Yes, she rested, ate, and exercised regularly. She could feel that her body was healthy.
Elisa went through each step of the check-up, but halfway through, the doctor suddenly stopped.
Elisa trembled with anxiety as she was startled by the sudden interruption.
Not only her, but the whole family looked at the doctor, especially Mrs. White, who asked, “Is there something wrong?”
The doctor smiled reassuringly. “There’s no problem. I just wanted to ask Miss Powell, how long has it been since your last menstrual cycle?”
Elisa hadn’t expected the doctor to ask this question out of the blue.
It was at this moment that Elisa noticed that her menstrual cycle seemed to be delayed for quite some time. She was someone who tended to think negatively, and at this point, she didn’t associate it with anything positive. Her expression became tense.
“It’s been a while,” Elisa replied uncertainly. Sometimes her menstrual cycle wasn’t regular due to stress, hormonal imbalance, or other factors. Because it didn’t cause any pain, she didn’t pay much attention to it.
But this time, it was entirely because of the wedding preparations and the honeymoon, which filled her schedule for the whole day, causing her to overlook her menstrual cycle.
“Miss Powell, you are seven weeks pregnant, and it’s twins.”
