She didn’t do much, just paid someone. Cromwell, the one she hired, used evil to counter evil, making Rachel, Christopher, and Matthew taste the bitterness of human nature. Knowing that Matthew had a gambling problem, Elisa had Cromwell take him to the casino, the more he lost, the better. The money was well spent, the Powell family got their due punishment. The damned ones died, the paralyzed ones were left paralyzed, and now it seems like everyone is going mad. The innocent child, Elisa didn’t have the heart to ruin a little kid, so she arranged for a good family to adopt him in exchange for a sum of money. For that child, this was the best possible outcome. If he had really grown up in the presence of such a grandfather, grandmother, and father, he might have turned out to be a troublemaker in the future.
Elisa looked at her hands and suddenly felt a bit dirty, the first thing she did when she got back was to use hand sanitizer. She looked at herself in the mirror and said, “It’s really hard to be a good person, but if there’s a next life, I still hope you can be a good person, I only hope that heaven can treat you kindly.”
Sometimes Elisa felt like Aoife hadn’t disappeared, although she tried to ignore it, memories of her would always come to mind, heavy and oppressive, but now that feeling had finally disappeared.
Matthew died three days ago, but before that, something had happened, and that was the reason for his death. His hands were chopped off, he couldn’t afford medical treatment, and he couldn’t take care of himself, the wound got infected, and the rabies virus spread quickly. In just two days, he was in so much pain that he died. Although Elisa didn’t say anything, Louis clearly felt that something was bothering her. Elisa had always been independent, and what Louis feared the most was that she wouldn’t tell him when she encountered a problem while he wasn’t around. So he made a call to Patrick. From Patrick, he found out that Elisa’s parents had arrived in Chiwood by train. Elisa’s parents had long been dead, and the ones hurrying to come were “Aoife’s” relatives.
Louis had previously investigated Aoife and knew how despicable her family members were. It was said that they would even sell their daughters for glory. Since Elisa wanted to deal with them herself, he left it to her, just a few cockroaches to squash, but he was afraid Elisa would be too soft on them. So when Elisa paid Cromwell, Louis had already arranged for someone to steal their money on the train. Louis found out that Aoife’s brother was a gambler, so he simply bribed several large casinos in Chiwood and made contact with Cromwell, the person Elisa had paid, to ensure that he would handle the matter cleanly.
As a result, a group of thugs took Rachel and Christopher to a factory after Elisa paid Cromwell, where they were either beaten or scolded and not given enough food to eat. Rachel, who had always been talkative and fond of gossip, was directly paralyzed. At first, no one believed what she said, and now, paralyzed, she couldn’t explain herself clearly.
That wasn’t enough; everyone knew that cockroaches weren’t so easily killed.
“Patrick, have someone help me with something.”
“What is it?”
“Chop off Matthew’s hands for me, he was always a troublemaker, I want him dead, and it’s best if he doesn’t appear in Elisa’s sight, I’m afraid it will dirty her eyes.”
There are too many dark sides in this world, he didn’t want Elisa to see them, so he could protect her, but if Elisa wanted to face these things, he could accompany her.
But if Elisa knew about his “dirty” methods, would she accept him?
After hanging up the phone, when Louis mentioned cutting off Matthew’s hands, some vague images flashed through Louis’ mind, he felt that this kind of thing wasn’t the first time he had done it, it felt very familiar. It was as if he had once chopped off someone’s hand.
Why did he feel so familiar with such a thing?
After resting for ten minutes, Louis was called to continue filming. The movie was already halfway through, and the rest of it had to be filmed in a different location, in the desert.
Filming went by quickly, but going to the desert, to a more distant place, he didn’t know when he would be back. Louis decisively asked for leave, he had been away for a month, and really wanted to go back and see Elisa.
The director usually saw him so dedicated and serious about acting, and thought that when he took leave to go back, it was to continue studying the script and adjust his mood, so hereadily agreed.
While on leave, Louis packed his bags and left them at the film crew’s location. After getting the director’s approval, he changed his clothes, grabbed two suitcases, and ran off. His plane ticket was booked the day before yesterday, and the car was arranged for last night. Louis put his luggage in the trunk and headed straight to the airport, not even bothering to call for his assistant to accompany him. Seeing Louis hastily leaving, did the director still have any doubts? This kid had long planned to take leave and go back.
Louis dashed into the airport, hoping not to be delayed and hoping to give Elisa a surprise as soon as possible. After boarding the plane and finding his seat, Louis ordered a glass of water. As he was drinking, he suddenly saw a figure, somewhat familiar, as if he had seen him somewhere before. Even though he didn’t recognize the person, the name of that person inexplicably flashed through his mind.
