Due to several tweets by Asher, Lorelei’s online reputation began to plummet rapidly. Even those who once had some goodwill toward her turned against her. Lorelei was unwilling to accept this, but she was powerless. The hot search results wouldn’t go down, the company had changed owners, her agent Thomas was nowhere to be found, and even her usual assistant who would vent with her was absent today.
If Asher dared to publicly announce the termination of her contract, then she wouldn’t be able to return to the set. If she couldn’t return to the set, she wouldn’t make things easy for anyone there. Since things had already come to this, she wouldn’t lose much by dragging out the lawsuit and preventing Asher from filming.
Then there was Elisa, a threat that would not allow her to rest. Whenever she felt anxious, her legs would ache, reminding her of that fearful memory. As she looked at her uneven and toe-less feet, Lorelei clenched her fists. She was no longer the Lila from three years ago; she was Lorelei now, with 50 million fans, awards, and record-breaking viewership. For her, she was now “reborn.”
In her past life, she couldn’t defeat Elisa. She refused to believe that in this life, she couldn’t even shake this fake one.
Touching her own feet, with her face against her knees, her eyes were as cold and menacing as a venomous snake.
…
After Elisa finished dealing with the contract, she went to the set. Louis wanted to keep her for dinner, but she insisted on returning to the hotel at the set. As she was about to get into her car, a phone call came in. Louis answered and his expression soured.
Elisa, following behind, noticed his troubled expression as he held the phone and asked, “If you have something to attend to, don’t worry about me. I can take a taxi back to the set on my own.”
It would be convenient for her to take a taxi, and she wasn’t in a rush to return to the set.
Louis shook his head, got into the car, and insisted, “I’ll take you back to the set.”
Elisa stood outside without moving. “Who called you just now?”
“It was my mom, asking me to come back for a while.”
“Then you should go back.”
“I don’t want to go back; there’s probably nothing good anyway.”
Elisa had never understood Louis’s family, only knowing that his mother was Hamish’s aunt, from the illustrious the White family.
“If your mom called you back, there must be a reason. How can you be sure it’s not something good if you don’t go back? Go home; it’s not easy for people like us to go back home often.” She didn’t even have a home to go back to.
Elisa closed the car door, took three steps back, and waved toward Louis in the driver’s seat. “Take care on your way home.”
Louis had no choice but to fasten his seatbelt. “Send me a text when you get back to the set.”
Elisa nodded and smiled. “Got it.”
After watching Louis leave, Elisa called for a car. It was already 5 o’clock in the afternoon when she returned to the set from Vaquita Bay. Elisa didn’t forget to send Louis a text.
Wearing a mask, she sent the text as she headed towards the hotel.
Louis had arranged for a bodyguard to arrive the next day. For safety, she was advised to stay indoors at night and, if she had to go out, to stay in public places with many people. Once in the hotel, she was to have dinner sent up by a waiter.
Elisa had already considered these precautions, but Louis reiterated them in the text.
Arriving at the hotel entrance, Elisa noticed several suspicious girls loitering nearby, looking around furtively. Judging from their appearance, they seemed to be underage schoolgirls.
It was clear to Elisa that they were here to hassle her, so she had already summoned the hotel security.
The security personnel were well-trained and not new to these kinds of situations. They hurried over and intercepted the girls.
The girls brandished utility knives, appearing fearless and arrogant. After being restrained by the security, instead of showing fear, they continued to hurl insults at Elisa.
“It’s all because of you that my sister got fired from the set. Why don’t you die along with that ugly cat of yours, you troublemaker!”
“If you ruin my sister, I’ll ruin you!”
“We’re underage anyway, and we’re here every day. Just wait for us!”
“You better be careful when you go out, don’t get hit by a car!”
The security personnel restraining them were taken aback. These were not ordinary underage students. Their words were as threatening as those of gangmembers. Despite the crowd, they dared to make such threats openly.
“Well, I’m really scared,” Elisa responded mockingly. She leisurely pressed three buttons to dial the police.
In front of everyone, she called the police to take the girls to the station.
At the police station, these individuals remained unruly. They had been thoroughly brainwashed by Lorelei, claiming that as minors, they were protected by national laws, and even if they broke the law, nothing serious would happen to them.
Elisa laughed at their remarks. “Indeed, even if you did something, you wouldn’t be thrown into jail.”
