Chapter 370: Let’s Do Something Big

Book:Mr. Burns Is Killing His Wife Published:2024-6-4

During the period when Aoife left, Finn took a long time to adjust. After all, Aoife had taken care of him for eight months, providing him with the best and most comfortable of everything. When Aoife left, Finn suddenly realized that he didn’t understand himself as well as Aoife understood him. Although there were servants at home, their care was never as meticulous as Aoife’s. The porridge in the morning was always lacking in flavor, and even the clothes he wore after washing were not as comfortable as those washed by Aoife.
No one squeezed toothpaste for him, and there was no one to set the hot water for his bath. In just eight months, he had become a giant baby under Aoife’s care, which was not a good sign. Finn despised all of his habits; wasn’t it just the absence of a woman? Just a substitute.
Finn was confident that without Aoife, he wouldn’t be able to live, and he waited for Aoife to come back to him. But three days passed without any message from Aoife. Had she been captivated by Hamish? Finn felt it was impossible; he had spent enough time with Aoife to know how much she liked him. She was naturally lowly, as long as he showed her a little kindness, she would stick by his side.
There was a saying, how did it go again? If someone loves you, they will come back to you no matter what. No matter how harsh the words or how fierce the arguments, she wouldn’t let go. But this time, she seemed to have really forgotten him. He swallowed his pride and called her, but all he got in response was a cold beep, and she had blocked all his contact information.
That day, Aoife really went to Hamish’s room. For a fleeting moment, Hamish seemed lost in thought looking at her face, and just as she thought he had mistaken her for someone else, Hamish suddenly flew into a rage and had his bodyguards drag her out. She paid a price; she broke a finger that night.
Aoife didn’t know how she endured that night. She had long lost her dignity, enduring humiliation in front of Finn and then being casually thrown to another man by him. She had truly liked Finn, not because he was wealthy, not because of his looks. It was just during a specific period of time, he gave her a different impression, which left her in a daze for an entire year.
She came from a small village, unloved by her parents. Her life was simply waiting to be sold to a man as a wife in exchange for a dowry to buy a house for her brother. There were very few people in her life who treated her well. A weak person fears even being sweetened to death with a piece of candy. Finn was the most special one; he brought her to live in a big house, paid her tuition to continue her studies, and even taught her how to play the violin.
He even gave her a new name, “Elisa”. “Knowing you entirely, loving you as before,” he said it sounded like the beginning of the Three Character Classic, hoping she could start anew. She was filled with gratitude and hope, but she never thought everything she had was stolen.
She didn’t hate that “Elisa,” she just felt a little jealous. How great must she be to make Finn love and miss her so much that he even found a replacement to reminisce about her? She gradually learned everything about that “Elisa”. Everyone liked Elisa, but who liked Aoife? Because she imitated “Elisa,” she knew how outstanding Elisa was. If she were in her shoes, she would like her too. To love someone deeply and have that person love another was her greatest mistake; she didn’t fall in love with Finn, she just mistakenly thought he had fallen for her.
The night she was sent to Hamish’s room, she went alone. Finn was sure she would obediently follow his orders and not escape. That night, as she left, Finn didn’t even look at her. Once something is sent out, it can’t be taken back. “So… Finn, take a look at me, I’m ‘leaving’.”
Finn was aware of what had happened the night Aoife went to Hamish’s room. He found it strange; why didn’t Hamish show any emotion towards someone who bore such a striking resemblance to Elisa? He seemed to be moved by something.
After Aoife left, it turned out, just as she had said, she didn’t come back. Aoife returned to the entertainment industry, but without any backing, she was bullied, and everyone thought she had been abandoned because of Finn’s neglect.
Leaving in such a quiet manner easily led people to think that she had offended Finn. Who was Finn? He was the heir of the Burns Group, the richest man inChiwood, someone no one dared to offend. Aoife seemed like a time bomb. Her economic agency misinterpreted Finn’s intentions, thinking he was disgusted with Aoife and seeking to retaliate against her. Therefore, they took it upon themselves to do something to show Finn, openly or covertly bullying her and exploiting everything she had available. Finn’s indifferent observation confirmed everything; he was indeed retaliating against her. It could be said that everything Aoife suffered during the year she left Finn was his responsibility.
He was more indifferent than a bystander and more ruthless than an executioner. He pushed Aoife step by step into an abyss, and in the end, she left this world, swapping the real Elisa back.
Finn was unaware of all this; he disregarded everything about Aoife. Although people around him told him that Aoife was not doing well, he saw it as her reaping what she had sown. He was waiting for her to come back and kneel and beg him. But unexpectedly, a whole year had passed.
He stared blankly at the woman on the TV; for a moment, he couldn’t tell if it was Elisa or Aoife. He had always waited for Aoife to return and regret leaving him, but instead, he witnessed her becoming more and more outstanding on stage.
For a moment, he felt as if Aoife had disappeared. Aoife was a perfect substitute; she had truly become the “Elisa” of the past. But for some reason, Finn felt a void in his heart. It was an uncomfortable feeling, a sense of weightlessness that lingered, making him feel very uncomfortable.
He had to go see her. Finn began to send people to investigate Elisa’s recent information, watching her being blacklisted by the entire internet, insulted by netizens, and having her private photos leaked.
Aoife was timid; she accidentally watched a “video recording” and had nightmares for a month, not daring to look directly at him. She was very timid and weak, but she didn’t lose her dignity. She was very susceptible to others’ emotions. Such a person was the least suitable to stay in the entertainment industry; her ability to endure was too weak.
When she was with him, seeing people online mocking her for pretending to be pure and innocent would leave her distraught for days. Now, facing the entire internet’s criticism, she might go mad. Whether she went mad or not was not within Finn’s concern; as long as she didn’t die, that was enough. According to the information, she was still alive and, in the past year, had changed a lot. She had learned to resist.
Finn flipped through the information to the last page, which showed that Elisa had accepted the script for the second female lead in “Revenge and Love”.
“How much is the investment for this film crew?” Finn asked.
The assistant quickly found the information online. “Currently, it’s 160 million dollars. Mr. Snearl, are you planning to invest in this film crew?”
“Yes. Arrange it. The Burns Group will invest 40 million dollars.”
“Understood.” Finn had invested in the film industry before, mostly making a lot of money from investing in movies; this was his first time investing in a TV drama.
However… as soon as the assistant looked at the list of actors and saw “Elisa,” he understood why Finn wanted to invest in this TV drama, and he sneered inwardly. As an investor, he could come and go in the production crew as he pleased.
“Take the documents and go down,” he said.
The assistant tidied up the documents on the table and left the room. After the assistant left, Finn took a deep breath, turned on his computer, and opened a file. Two video windows popped up.
One was the Elisa who had suffered so much in the past, and the other was Elisa participating in a variety show, acting on stage. Although their faces were different, there was a familiar feeling. He instinctively lifted his hand and loosened the tie around his neck, feeling like it was squeezing his breath. After loosening it, he felt much better.
He quickly finished watching the videos and suddenly wanted to see Aoife when she was with him. But no matter how much he searched, he couldn’t find any photos or videos of her. Her appearance only remained in his memory, gradually fading with time.
After Elisa moved to Bankshire, she went back to the noodle shop with Mimi, as it was not far away, and whenever she had to go out, she would eat there at Mrs. Schoellman’s. Mrs. Schoellman was warm and welcoming. She didn’t show the slightest disdain when she saw Elisa carrying a cat. Instead, she personally cooked fish for the cat and fed it.
Although Mrs. Schoellman was curious about the many old wounds on the cat’s body, she didn’t ask. Bringing up others’ wounds was like sprinkling salt on a wound, whether intentional or not.
“What’s the cat’s name?” she asked.
“It’s called Mimi.”
Mrs. Schoellman squatted down to watch the cat eat and couldn’t help but comment, “Mimi’s eyes are really beautiful.”
Elisa smirked slightly.
Lunchtime brought a large crowd to the shop, so Elisa didn’t linger. After finishing the noodles, she left with Mimi. She couldn’t bear to leave Mimi alone at home. Every time she saw its big blue eyes, she felt guilty leaving it behind, so she usually took it with her wherever she went.
Apart from dealing with property and reading scripts, Elisa had established a company named “A. W.” One person couldn’t establish a company, so she brought in Louis. She invited him out under the pretext of treating him to a meal. Louis was surprised when he heard that she wanted to found a company.
“Why me?” Louis asked as he sat across from her. It was clear from his shining eyes that he was eagerly anticipating Elisa’s answer.
“Because I only trust you,” she replied. This wasn’t just to flatter Louis. Indeed, since her rebirth, Louis was the only person she could trust.
Louis was very satisfied with this answer, and his smug expression was evident.
Without a second thought, Louis agreed to register a company with Elisa. When he saw that the company’s name consisted of just two letters, he asked, “Does this have any special meaning?”
Elisa shook her head. “It doesn’t mean anything. It was just something I came up with randomly.”
The registration process was quite complex. Louis didn’t ask where Elisa got the money from. Astonishingly, without batting an eye, he came up with thirty million dollars to set up the company.
He wasn’t the least bit worried about losing it. Louis had originally intended to invest some of his own money, but Elisa was wealthy, so she held 90% of the shares, while Louis managed the remaining 10%.
This 10% of the shares amounted to a substantial sum. Louis didn’t want to take advantage of Elisa for no reason, making himself seem like a kept man. He was never short of money, whether from the films he had made in recent years or from his family’s wealth. He could throw out that amount of money without even blinking an eye.
Elisa also had her own insistence: “You must keep these shares. Even close relatives need to keep clear accounts. No matter how good our relationship is, we still need to settle the money. By keeping the shares, I will also need your connections.”
Louis guessed that Elisa didn’t just want to establish a company; there was definitely more behind it. Establishing the company was just laying a foundation, like building a house. You needed a solid foundation.
Elisa told Louis about what she planned to do next, and she even brought along a detailed file, which included internal information about X Entertainment and scattered shares.
“I want to acquire this company.”
Based on Elisa’s wealth, she could easily throw money to acquire it, but that would be too cheap for them. She wanted to undermine them from within, forcing them to sell their shares at a low price.
Louis instantly understood Elisa’s intention as he looked through the documents she had handed him. It was clear and easy to understand. Without much thought, he suddenly became curious.
Elisa’s documents showed that she had entered the entertainment industry right after finishing the college entrance examination, without attending university or having any experience in these matters. How did she manage to produce such a perfect report?
