Chapter 361: I am Elisa’s Backer

In reality, using the term “backer” wasn’t particularly flattering, but when Louis heard it, he not only didn’t get angry but also displayed a proud expression.
“Backer?” Louis chuckled lightly. “Aren’t I her backer? I naturally have to shield my people.”
Yes, yes, everything you say is correct.
Jack acknowledged in his mind, although he still advised, “Considering Elisa’s current situation, I don’t think having you as her backer is a very honorable thing.”
Louis furrowed his brow, his gaze growing cold, and the room temperature suddenly dropped. “What do you mean?” he asked sharply.
Jack flinched, changing the subject. “Has Elisa admitted that she’s with you? Are you protecting her? Also, what happened when she went home with you that day?”
“Nothing happened. We just watched a movie and went to sleep. We each slept in our own rooms, and the next day she left at seven.”
That was somewhat unexpected. If it were any other woman, she would have stuck to him like glue. It was surprising that Elisa hadn’t even made a move. Clearly, she was different from the flashy and cheap women outside. No wonder she had captivated Louis’s heart.
Thinking about the events of the past few days made Louis’s face reveal a bitter expression. He sat in the chair, hanging his head. “Sometimes, I really don’t understand what she’s thinking.”
Well, that’s obvious. If you could understand her, would she still be considered a woman?
“And then?” Jack asked, urging him to continue.
“Sometimes I feel like Elisa likes me.”
One of the three great misconceptions of life: thinking that the person you like also likes you.
Jack didn’t want to discourage him, so he put on a professional fake smile, pursing his lips.
“But then I feel like the person she likes isn’t me.” Not to mention liking, sometimes he felt like she wasn’t even looking at him.
He observed very subtly. Elisa’s favorite thing seemed to be staring at his mouth. Clearly, his face was better looking, yet she seemed to prefer looking at his teeth? Was she a dentophile?
“Let’s not talk about her for now. I want to ask you how to handle this matter. This is the first time you’ve been involved in a rumor.”
“This doesn’t even count as a rumor.”
Quite self-aware, aren’t we? Jack said, “I think the solution now is for the studio to issue a denial, and legal proceedings against the rumor should be pursued.”
“You don’t need to worry. I have a solution.”
“What solution?” Jack looked at him cautiously. He didn’t think Louis’s solution could be that great. He reminded, “You shouldn’t act impulsively, and it’s not just about you; it might also involve Elisa.”
“I know. If we’re going to sue for defamation, the person being sued should know the cost of spreading rumors. I’ve already had someone look into the ID information, and we’ll have results soon.” Louis took out a box of mints from his pocket, popped two into his mouth, and the refreshing taste of mint invaded his entire palate. He leaned back in the soft chair, crossing his long legs, looking composed, as if everything was under his control.
Jack pursed his lips. He knew Louis’s capabilities. If he took charge of something, it would definitely be resolved.
“Well, then…”
“Let’s just wait.”
The Twitter ID that Louis had looked into was a small account used by Filippa to post. It would be difficult to find out who it was among a billion users, but what if they narrowed it down to a thousand, a hundred, or even ten?
Louis wasn’t foolish. This person was so familiar with the live program that they were most likely a staff member or a guest artist at the time.
Reviewing the content posted by this account in the past, it was definitely not an ordinary staff member, so they could be narrowed down to the artists and guests at the time.
Considering who had recently been hostile towards Elisa, the only one left was Filippa.
So Louis had someone investigate Filippa’s mobile account ID, and as expected, it matched.
Filippa used a small account to post this message: first, as revenge, and second, to divert public attention.
It was a clever idea, but she shouldn’t have used her cleverness against Louis, or she wouldn’t even know how she died.
“Have you found out who it is?” Jack, seeing Louis looking at his phone with that calculating look, probably guessed what was happening.
“Do you have Filippa’s phone number?”
“I don’t have Filippa’s, but I have her agent’s. Is that her Twitter account?”
Louis didn’t reply, which was as good as confirmation. He stood up, pushedthe chair behind him, and gestured, “Give me her agent’s number.”
Jack found the number, located Filippa’s agent, Aster, and handed the phone over. “Here.”
Louis took the phone and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window, dialing the number.
After three rings, the other person picked up. “Manager Zhang, why are you calling me?”
“It’s me.”
Louis’s voice was distinct, very pleasant, like an elegant cello melody, deep and husky. Even without emotion, it could still resonate within the listener, like a stone casually thrown into water, causing ripples that wouldn’t settle for a long time.
“Louise?” Aster felt a surge of unease. Louis wouldn’t casually call just anyone.
“Here’s the thing: I found out that your artist under your management has been spreading rumors about me.”
“My artist?” Aster’s mind spun, filled with uncertainty. She thought about today’s hot search and cautiously asked, “You mean Filippa?”
“I’ll directly post the evidence on Twitter later. If she dares to use my fans, she should also taste the consequences,” Louis said.
Aster panicked. “Please, Louis, let’s talk properly. If it’s really Filippa, I will make her apologize to you. Please don’t bring everything onto Twitter.”
Louis chuckled. He had put the call on speakerphone, so he didn’t need to hold the phone to his ear. He twirled the phone in his slender fingers. “Manager Li, now it’s your artist spreading rumors about my relationship with Elisa on Twitter. It makes it look like you’re the victim.”
Aster felt that something was off with that sentence, but she didn’t know exactly what. At this moment, she couldn’t afford to think about it. She just hoped that Louis would give her some leeway. If Louis exposed Filippa, it would be over for her.
Now, she started to resent Filippa. She didn’t know what had gotten into her, causing such a big commotion in just half a day, after she had been peaceful for two days.
“I’ll make her delete the post, apologize to you, deactivate the account, and compensate you. How much do you want?” Since the post was made from a small account, public apologies wouldn’t have much impact.
“Louise, can we try to minimize this? This matter won’t have much impact on you, it’s just some gossip about Elisa.”
