When Hamish went to work, Caleb would stay at home and chat with Elisa, spending more time with her than Hamish did.
Hamish, being a jealous person, couldn’t bear this, so he immediately arranged for Caleb to move to a nearby house.
Elisa was amused, “You’re driving people away like this. Who will provide me with psychological counseling?”
“I don’t think you need it.”
Still as selfish and overbearing as ever, Elisa said, “You think so? Last week, you thought I needed counseling, and now you think I don’t. Whose body is it, mine or yours?”
The two almost quarreled over this trivial matter, and it was Caleb who ultimately calmed them down and advised Elisa not to seek counseling for the time being.
During the two weeks he had been at the villa, he had only hypnotized Elisa once. Most of the time, they just chatted to pass the time.
Elisa had rarely made a friend close to her age, and she could really connect with Caleb. Just when she could finally pass the time with someone interesting, Hamish, the jealous one, killed the opportunity.
Elisa was angry the whole night, forbidding Hamish from getting into bed and sending him to sleep on the carpet in the living room.
Learning from past experiences, Hamish didn’t dare utter a word and just went to sleep on the sofa, without a blanket, sitting there, feeling wronged, glaring in Elisa’s direction.
He regretted bringing Caleb as the hypnotist for Elisa. If he had known, he would have hired a male hypnotist.
Elisa and Caleb shared the same views and could talk about many things. Sometimes, they would chat and completely ignore Hamish when he returned from work. With many other people already at home, not being able to be affectionate with his wife when he returned from work, and now having a third wheel, he felt intense resentment and jealousy.
Elisa had originally agreed to ignore Hamish, but seeing him locked on the sofa all night, she couldn’t bear it. She had truly been conquered by him in this lifetime.
Elisa found a woolen blanket in the wardrobe and carefully placed it over Hamish.
Hamish slept poorly, years of caution had made him alert even in his sleep. At the slightest noise, he would wake up, but he didn’t open his eyes.
It was only when Elisa covered him with the blanket that he suddenly opened his eyes and grabbed her hand.
“Wife, can I go to bed now?”
“You’re not asleep yet?” Startled by his sudden movement, Elisa looked at Hamish holding her hand, her face turning slightly pale. “Let go of my hand.”
Hamish said, “The sofa is too small, I can’t sleep.”
With his large stature, sleeping on the small sofa, which was only one and a half meters long, indeed seemed cramped. Unable to stretch out, he looked pitiful.
“I was wrong, can I go back to bed? I can’t see you during the day, and now I can’t even hold you when I come back at night.”
“You were wrong, but will you dare to do it again?” Elisa forcefully pulled her hand back, her voice chilly. “You know what kind of person I am. I’ve explained to you several times that my relationship with Caleb is purely platonic. I barely go out, and it’s rare for me to make a friend who can accompany me. Yet you want to drive him away. Do you think I enjoy seducing men and making you wear the green hat?”
“It’s not…” Hamish tried to defend himself. “Besides, it was Caleb himself who said he couldn’t stay.”
True, it was Caleb who brought it up, but anyone with a brain could tell who was behind it.
“Or are you unwilling to let him stay?”
This man again! They say women’s hearts are like the deep sea, full of wild fantasies. She didn’t see anything good in Hamish, always jealous and resentful.
“Heh.”
“Are you spending more time chatting with Caleb than with me? Am I not handsome enough, or not tall enough…” As it turned out, men could also…
“You lack decency, you’re shameless, and your words make people furious.”
Hamish was the epitome of jealousy, half shameless and half thick-skinned.
Hamish knew that Elisa would be angry with his actions, but he just couldn’t stand the idea of Elisa chatting and laughing with other men, even if that person was the hypnotist he hired to control her memories.
“If you’re bored during the day, you can come to my company.”
“Am I coming to see you in meetings, signing documents, or staring at your computer?”
“If you’re willing, it’s not impossible.”
Heh…
There was no need to mention how busy Hamish was with his work. Usually, when she texted him in the morning, he was too busy to reply until the afternoon, often skipping lunch altogether.
She knew what it felt like when her stomach acted up. It felt like all her strength had been drained from her body, and the sight or sound of food made her nauseous.
She didn’t want Hamish to end up like her, but every time she called him to eat, he always ignored her, even if Tobias brought him lunch, he would let it go cold. There was nothing she could do.
Someone so busy that they didn’t even have time for lunch, and she was expected to go and chat with him? She was afraid that she would be thrown out before she even entered his office.
