Elisa spoke frankly, while Lukas had yet to say anything, Ivan, who was being stepped on the ground, couldn’t bear Elisa’s harsh insults.
“Elisa, you bitch! Even if I die, I’ll drag you down with me! You whore!” The increasingly offensive words spewed out of his mouth.
Elisa’s eyes darkened slowly, a scornful smirk playing at the corner of her lips. “Keep cursing, and I’ll cut out your tongue!”
Ivan felt a tremor in his tongue, as if it were stuck in his throat, and it sealed shut instantly.
People like these who mingled in the underworld carried an air of hostility, but the hostility that emanated from Elisa just now was even stronger than theirs.
Lukas sat nearby, watching Ivan on the ground, his gaze ultimately resting on Elisa’s face. He squinted slightly, his eyes filled with scrutiny.
What can be said about Elisa? Faced with her own brother’s offensive insults and malicious curses, her expression remained calm, without the slightest fluctuation.
She was unnaturally composed.
It seemed that what she had said was true-they had no extra affection as siblings.
Elisa could be said to be the most unique woman he had ever met, both in appearance and temperament.
The man holding the POS machine glanced at Lukas.
Lukas extinguished the cigarette in his hand, a glimmer of darkness flashing in his eyes. “I’ll give you a month. We both take a step back, but you have to drink this bottle of wine on the table.”
Lukas pushed the bottle of red wine in front of him, smiling.
Elisa had concerns. She had come alone today, without any assistance by her side. Everyone in this room was on Lukas’s side. If she went head-to-head with them, it would undoubtedly be like hitting a stone with an egg.
For the current situation, she could only go along with him. However, she couldn’t touch alcohol because of her stomach cancer. It had been a while since her last episode, and she didn’t know if she could hold up this time.
Elisa glanced discreetly at Ivan and gritted her teeth. “Bring me the IOU first.”
Lukas’s subordinate brought out the prepared IOU, and Elisa took a look, confirming its authenticity. She asked, “If I finish drinking today and sign my name, will you let me leave safely?”
It was only now that she began to be cautious, but perhaps it was too late. Lukas’s eyes were obscure and unclear, and he nodded with a grunt.
Elisa took the wine bottle, pulled out the cork, and the aroma of fine red wine filled the air. It tasted smooth and rich, but it was deceptively easy to get drunk.
During her early days of work and entertainment, Elisa had often drunk this kind of wine. She had a certain tolerance for alcohol, and finishing a bottle was easy for her. But now, her body might not be able to handle it.
Elisa tilted her head back, gripping the neck of the wine bottle and poured it straight down her throat.
It had been a long time since she had drunk alcohol, and her throat couldn’t handle it. Elisa didn’t change her expression, drinking three mouthfuls before stopping, wiping her rosy lips.
“Miss Powell, you have a good tolerance for alcohol.”
Elisa played it down, “It’s alright, but I can’t compare to all of you.”
Lukas smiled warmly, his gaze fixed on Elisa’s slender neck as she tilted her head back.
The dim lighting in the private room blurred the contours of her delicate features. Normally, when someone drank, their face would turn red with the effects of alcohol, but Elisa’s face turned pale instead, and her already fair cheeks now appeared translucent under the play of light and shadow.
The room was filled with music, and everyone was cheering, making a lot of noise.
Elisa’s ears buzzed, and her stomach suddenly cramped. She let out a painful muffled groan, which went unnoticed by anyone.
Her throat rolled uneasily, having consumed two-thirds of the wine bottle. Elisa took a moment to recover, a touch of crimson at the corner of her lips.
Under the purple lighting, it wasn’t noticeable, not even Ivan, who was closest to her, realized it. He thought it was just the red wine.
But in reality, it was Elisa’s blood. She was tormented by pain, her consciousness becoming hazy. Her limbs weakened, and she felt nauseous, almost vomiting blood, but she forced it back down.
She was glad she had chosen red wine. Even if she vomited blood in such a sorry state, no one would suspect a thing.
In this kind of situation, she absolutely couldn’t afford to be looked down upon.
Elisa finishedthe entire bottle of red wine. Aside from the pain in her stomach, there were no other abnormalities. However, the stomach pain alone tortured her to the point of unbearable suffering.
She couldn’t maintain her fake smile on her face any longer. Elisa set the wine bottle down with one hand and used a few tissues to cover her mouth.
After a while, she hoarsely asked, “Is it enough?”
“Sign the document.”
Lukas’s subordinate handed the pen to Elisa. Trembling, she reached out and crouched down. One bottle of wine wasn’t enough to make her dizzy, but she couldn’t make out the words on the paper clearly. They danced around like living creatures.
After tremblingly signing her name, the pen fell to the ground with a snap. Elisa’s reaction slowed down, and her gaze followed the trace left by the pen, finally landing on a pair of shiny leather shoes.
