Chapter 128: A Moment of Astonishment

Book:Mr. Burns Is Killing His Wife Published:2024-6-4

What does Hamish think he’s doing? Is a few caring words enough? Does not divorcing her mean he loves her? Does she care about all this?
Elisa stood up abruptly, emanating a chilling aura that made people hold their breath involuntarily.
“You haven’t experienced everything I have, so you think he’s kind-hearted, right? He’s just younger and easily blinded by appearances.”
At this moment, Elisa had forgotten that she was only twenty-four years old. In just four short years, she had lived a lifetime, experiencing all the flavors of life, the ups and downs.
“If he were truly as good as you think, my life wouldn’t be this difficult.”
One who hasn’t experienced suffering cannot advise others on kindness.
Did Hamish think that having Ariella, an outsider, say a few good words would make everything go away?
Elisa turned on the tap to wash her hands.
When Hamish came back from work, he asked Elisa about her day, as usual.
Ariella replied with a simple “It’s fine” and then recounted the conversation she had with Elisa at noon.
After all, it wasn’t pleasant words. Ariella cautiously glanced at Hamish while speaking, and when she saw that his expression remained calm, she breathed a sigh of relief.
“Don’t talk to her about these things anymore. She’s going through a rebellious phase now and will only find me annoying.” Hamish didn’t think he had done anything wrong, attributing all the problems to Elisa’s current illness and rebellion.
He was always confident, believing that time could mend everything. As long as he compensated Elisa well and fulfilled her past desires and wishes that were once unattainable, she would surely soften her heart.
Didn’t Elisa think he treated her poorly now? Then he would focus most of his energy on her alone in the future.
The next morning, Hamish woke Elisa up and asked her to accompany him to a bidding event.
Elisa was in a grumpy mood. As soon as she heard Hamish’s voice, she pulled the blanket over her head and covered her ears.
Hamish knew that Elisa didn’t want to see him or be annoyed by him, but he didn’t mind. He sat on the bed and pulled the blanket off her.
“Get up, Ariella has prepared breakfast.” He forcibly pulled the blanket away, and Elisa impatiently raised her eyelids.
“I’m not going. Why should I go to your company’s bidding? I’m not your employee.”
Hamish finally got a response, even though her tone wasn’t pleasant. But he still smiled happily, looking at Elisa’s round face full of anger. “Aren’t you bored at home? Get up, I’ll pick a nice outfit for you to wear.”
Without paying attention to Elisa’s protests, he picked out an outfit from the wardrobe and placed it on the bed. “Wear this, the red one looks good on you.”
Elisa’s scalp tingled with annoyance. She grabbed the dress from the bed and threw it at Hamish. “Can’t you understand what I’m saying? I’m not going!”
Hamish picked up the dress from the floor and took out his phone to make a call.
Elisa stared at him irritably, wondering what he was up to, until her phone, placed on the bedside table, vibrated a few times.
She reached out and grabbed the phone, flipping through the transaction records. Indeed, Hamish had just transferred 990, 000 to her.
Hamish raised an eyebrow, looking relaxed as he finished the transfer and put down his phone. “Go out with me today, and when we come back, I’ll give you another one million. Will you go?”
Elisa wanted to say that he couldn’t dismiss her with such a small amount of money, but when she heard the words “one million” after that, she suppressed her annoyance.
For Hamish, this amount was nothing, but it had a significant impact on her. Just spending one day with him would earn her two million. Even if she couldn’t use it, it would be great to donate it to an orphanage.
Elisa got up from the bed. “I’ll go.”
Hamish nodded satisfactorily, turned around, and went to the bathroom to prepare hot water with the right temperature. He also considerately squeezed toothpaste onto Elisa’s toothbrush.
Elisa changed into the red dress, a vibrant color that ordinary people would find difficult to pull off. Elisa was a natural clothes hanger, and although she had regained some weight after being thin as a bone for the past ten days, she didn’t lack anything where she should.
However, no matter how much she ate, her waist remained slender, an ant waist that could be held with a light grip.
After finishing her morning routine, Elisa sat at the dressing table to apply makeup. Herskin was fair, and she naturally had good features, so a light makeup and a touch of lipstick were enough.
Elisa had long and dense eyelashes, and she didn’t need mascara. A slight curl with an eyelash curler made them look like two butterflies perched above her eyes, casting beautiful shadows on her eyelids.
Women, when dressing up, always disliked being disturbed. Hamish turned and went downstairs, waiting for a few minutes until Elisa came down.
Hamish sat at the dining table, having breakfast. Ariella had prepared pancakes, corn porridge, and refreshing pickled radishes, one of Elisa’s favorite breakfasts.
When Hamish heard some noise from the staircase, he turned his head and was instantly amazed. It made one’s mouth water.
It had been a long time since he had seen Elisa dress herself up so nicely. Now she was wearing a red dress, her long hair coiled up, revealing her slender swan-like neck. Her skin was like condensed cream, and she had put on a bit more makeup, giving her a more energetic look.
This version of Elisa reminded him of the banquet six years ago, but now she had lost her extravagance and arrogance, replaced by maturity and a touch of laziness. Her eyes seemed indifferent, as if she had no interest in anything.
