Chapter 62 – Like a Lost Toy

Book:Mr. Burns Is Killing His Wife Published:2024-6-4

Hamish returned at ten o’clock in the morning. He didn’t dare leave Elisa locked up for too long since she had a stomach condition. He was afraid the same thing as last time would happen again.
When he got home, he imagined all sorts of scenarios, like Elisa admitting her mistake and apologizing, or still being stubborn and refusing to admit she was wrong like before. But he never could have imagined that when he went upstairs to the bedroom, he would see blood all over the floor, and no matter how he searched the entire house, he couldn’t find Elisa.
In that moment, he suddenly felt a strange sense of panic. It was as if a piece of his heart was missing. He couldn’t accurately describe that feeling. If he had to force an explanation, it was like a toy he had always loved as a child that suddenly went missing one day, and he never found it again.
The entire villa was deathly quiet. He shouted Elisa’s name loudly, but only silence answered him.
He walked to the balcony, stepping over broken glass. He bent down and removed the handcuffs still shackled to the railing. There was blood on them. He rolled them between his fingers – it was like rust.
He had no idea when Elisa had disappeared. There were no security cameras installed in the villa that could show him what happened. If he wanted to find out her whereabouts fastest, the best thing to do was call the police.
But the stubborn possessive desire within him insisted that he had to investigate personally. He called Elisa, and the phone rang, but the sound came from the bedroom.
Following the ringtone, Hamish found Elisa’s phone on the bed. It had a passcode lock on it. He tried to unlock it but couldn’t.
She didn’t take her phone, so she couldn’t have escaped by herself.
Who was most likely to have taken her away? Micah’s name floated up in Hamish’s mind. He clenched the phone tightly until his knuckles turned white.
Hamish went straight downstairs to explain the situation to the property manager and asked to review the security footage, setting it to 3x speed.
Sure enough, around eight in the morning, he saw Micah come in with some people, forcibly open the lock, and carry Elisa away.
The image was blurry, he couldn’t make out Elisa’s face clearly, he could only see her docilely leaning against Micah’s embrace like an obedient cat.
Seeing this, Hamish’s eyes narrowed slightly, a sinister light flashing in them.
The anger in his chest seemed to want to burn his heart to ashes. He clenched his fist tightly, the corners of his lips curving up as he let out a mocking sound.
The other two people in the security room were frightened by this cold and ominous aura, desperately trying to minimize their presence.
Oh Elisa, you’ve really outdone yourself. He had warned her not to get close to Micah, so why didn’t she listen?
He had intended to let the Bakers off, but now it seemed there was no need for that anymore.
Usually Hamish didn’t let his joy or anger show on his face, but when he was serious, the coercive force he emitted was not something ordinary people could withstand. Even with a smile still on his face, it made people involuntarily shudder.
He didn’t immediately go to find Elisa, but instead returned to the villa. As soon as he left, the others in the security room breathed a sigh of relief.
Back at the villa, Hamish looked at the dumplings he had bought for Elisa that morning. The more he looked at them, the more ironic he found it. He went over and smashed the breakfast on the floor. The bag split open and dumplings spilled all over the ground.
At this time, Hamish was like an enraged lion, his whole body exuding a violent aura. He straightened his crooked tie, rolled his neck, took a deep breath, then sat down on the sofa and made a call.
The other end picked up almost as soon as the dial tone sounded.
“Mr. Burns.”
“Terminate and cancel all cooperation with the Baker Group.”
“But they have a project with us that’s about to conclude soon. Stopping it suddenly like this, we’ll take losses too,”
Hamish’s bloodshot eyes smiled sinisterly: “I can afford that loss. Stop all cooperation, and put out the word that I want the Baker Group to have no foothold left in Bankshire.”
On the other end of the phone, Tobias shivered. It seemed the Bakers had offended Hamish severely. Hamish’s actions were clearly meant to drive Baker Group out of Bankshire completely.
Tobias acknowledged and began relaying the orders.
After hanging up, Hamish scrolled to Elisa’s name in his contacts. He raised his finger to call but hung up before dialing, tossing the phone onto the coffee table where he could see it.
He would wait for Elisa to beg him to take her back – this was the price for her disobedience!
