ALEX’S POV
I have already made up my mind. I need to win Bryan back. I couldn’t bear to lose him. These nonsense excuses are enough for me.
I want to be happy, I know I will be happy with Nic but I want to be fully happy and I know I will only experience that if I will choose Bryan.
I don’t also want to be unfair with Nic. She deserve someone better.
Nic is with me now. We invited our parents to tell them that we will not push through the marriage. Nic assure me that he is with me. He will help me to convince both parties that this is the right decision, and Nic and I deserve it.
“Mom, Dad…” I started my speech.
“Yes princess?” My mom asked while giving me a warm smile.
I was nervous and guilty at the same time. When I saw both our parents, I suddenly thought of not pursuing the plan.
Earlier when we arrived they were very happy with the planning from the wedding, honeymoon to our future home. They also seem to like to talking about their future grandchildren. They also wish that the wedding could happen this year.
I looked at Nic. He was holding my hand. He smiled at me but I lower my head. I want to tell him that I do not want to push through with the plan.
“Ma, Pa we will not push through the wedding” Nic suddenly said tightening the grip on my hand even more.
Our parents’ jaw dropped.
“What do you mean Nic?” Uncle said seriously.
“Dad we don’t love each other. It’s unfair for us to get married.” Nic replied.
Nic speaks as if he is the one fighting. As I seemed to lose my voice. I wanted to speak but nothing seemed to come out of my mouth.
“I thought you two are getting along…” my mom said quite confused.
“Yes Auntie we are. But we see each other as friends. Nothing romantic.” He explained.
“Alexandria” my dad called me in a serious tone.
“Y-yes?” I asked nervously.
“Don’t you have anything to say? Don’t you have any reaction?” My dad asked me seriously.
I was even more nervous. I do not know what to say.
“N-nic is right d-dad” I stuttered.
“Uncle, I know it’s hard to accept our sudden withdrawal from the wedding. Lex is kind and nice, but we can really only see each other as friends.” Nic explained again
“Is there someone else?” My Daddy asked seriously.
“Is that why you can only offer my daughter a friendship because you already have someone else?!” My daddy asked angrily this time.
My eyes widened in fear. I looked at Nic. He still held me tightly.
Unconsciously, my tears flowed.
“ANSWER ME!” Dad shouted.
I close my eyes in fear.
“Yes.” Nic said.
I opened my eyes and looked at Nic. I’m shaking. No. I have someone else and not Nic. I owe Nic too much.
My daddy stood up. I saw his fist clench. He pulled me and mommy. He didn’t say anything, we just left.
We are at home and daddy is still silent. I was about to go upstairs when Daddy suddenly called me.
“Alex …” Daddy said seriously.
“D-dad?” I asked nervously.
I was surprised when daddy suddenly hugged me “I’m sorry Princess. I just want you to be happy. But that Nic!”
I returned the hug. I feel guilty.
I shook my head “No dad. Nic is very kind. He is the perfect fiancee.” I defended Nic.
“But he hurt you.” He hissed.
I shake my head. “No dad. Nic did nothing but to support me. I’m sorry Dad.”
My daddy let go of the hug.
I confessed to him the whole thing. Luckily Daddy understood me. He told me to run after Bryan.
I’m here now in Bryan’s unit. Because his unit is in a penthouse, the owner’s approval is required first. It’s my first time that’s why the guard doesn’t know me yet.
“Ma’am sorry but Sir Bryan had left.” The guard said.
I bit my lower lip. “Oh is that so?”
“Yes, he left earlier this morning. He is with a girl. I think that is her girlfriend.” The guard explained.
Suddenly my heart ached at what I heard. My knees seem to be weakening. Did Bryan really forget about me? Doesn’t he love me anymore?
“They are carrying a suitcase … They are going to the states.” The guard added.
My eyes widened. “What?”
I did not wait for the guard’s answer and I immediately took my cellphone and called Gian.
“Alex?”
“Gian! I’m here at B-Bryan’s unit. The guard said that Bryan went to the State this morning, is that true?” I asked him.
“Yes Alex. Actually we are still at the airport we will just send them.”
With that I could not stop myself from falling. Earlier my knee was weakening.
“Ma’am are you okay?” The guard said worriedly.
I nodded in response.
“Alex what’s going on? Are you okay?” Gian’s voice showed concern.
“Yes I’m okay Gian. Thanks.”
That’s all and I put down the phone.
I went home feel defeated. After all the things that happened, this is what I will get. It’s all my fault. Maybe this is the consequence of all my decisions.
