Liam
The last two weeks have been very fruitful, Ariana and I have carried on with her training. We went to Jonas’ house a week ago, and Aria was thrilled to have me using different equipment on her. There is a play party coming up this weekend and she told me she wants to attend it with me. Her thrill is disarming. She has got me doing things which I could never have imagined myself doing two months ago, but my life couldn’t have been more perfect.
Ariana has taken her training well. In my head, I remember the flogging session we carried out last week. She was yielding, though she makes mistakes here and there, I always promise to make my promise of punishment. She doesn’t repeat the same mistake more than two times.
I want to order for her the corset she told me she dreamed about. I want it to be a surprise when she comes over this weekend. I can’t wait to see her dressed only in a corset. All I know is that she would look damn sexy.
There is a knock at the office door and my personal assistant comes in with my coffee. I shake my thoughts off my head and try to look as present as I can in my office. Ariana has a job interview today. She didn’t tell me where she has applied to. She is very stubborn. She told me her interview will end at about two in the afternoon, but it is already three. She is probably still there, because she promised to call immediately after so as to inform me about how it went, and I can’t stop myself from worrying about her.
When Brooke leaves, I sip on my coffee and my eyes dart to the clock on the wall infront of me.
I don’t mind a little late, but it has been an hour. When it comes to Aria, I can’t stop myself from worrying about her.
My phone rings, and Ariana appears on the caller Id. A smile of relief appears on my face, she finally called.
“Hi,” I say, leaning back into the chair, wanting to listen to my girl’s voice.
“Hello? Is this Liam Carter I am talking to?” another serious female voice comes from the other side of the voice. That is definitely not Ariana. I sit up immediately, my heart hammering in my chest.
“Yes. Where is Ariana?” I croak.
“Ariana Manroe has been admitted to Willow Green Hospital. She has met with an accident-” my hearing ends with the word ‘accident’
At this moment, I am dumbstruck with the news that Ariana has met with an accident. What? How did this happen? When she was going for the interview? When she was leaving?
Another call comes through the office phone and I pick it without thinking. My secretary’s voice comes through.
“Sir, you have an appointment coming up in thirty minutes with-”
“Cancel it!” I say at once and let go of the phone.
“But sir? Sir? Sir!” I hear her call all, but I am already up from my sit. Leaving the phone hanging by it’s wire on my desk, I grab my jacket and dash out of my office.
Storming past Brooke, who is standing infront of her desk holding papers. I guess she was delivering those to my office.
“I am off for now. Don’t call me unless it is an emergency. Tell everyone that comes to meet me that I am not available. I have something very important to take care of,” I tell her.
“But sir?” the look of confusion covers her face and she frowns. I shoot her a glare.
“Okay, sir,” she murmurs and goes back to her desk. When I make it into the elevator, I call Hector to prepare my ride. Oh, god! Ariana should be okay. She should be okay. I repeat this mantra in my head on my way down in the elevator. I hope the accident wasn’t that bad to cause severe damage. I wonder how long she has been in the hospital. Damn it! This is so frustrating. I am impatient to get out when the elevator hits the first floor. He Hector is waiting for me with the car. I get in without any chit chat.
“Where to, sir?” Hector inquires, not filling in some unnecessary questions about why am abruptly leaving work, because well, it is non of his business. I have training my employees not to ask me such questions that are uncalled for.
“Willow Green Hospital. Make it fast,” I respond.
“okay, sir,” he responds and types into the car’s GPS system.
The car ride is awfully long and uncomfortable. I loosen my tie and check on my phone. Damn it! How on earth did this happen?
I nearly jump out of the car before Hector can pack it. There are big blue words infront of the building reading Willow Green Hospital. She here. In there, probably laying unconscious. Or heavily bleeding. Who knows if all her body parts are intact.
I just got Ariana and now I stands chance of losing her. The thought of loosing Aria is haunting. I can’t loose her. I just got her. I have just known how it feels to hold the woman I love in my arms. She said she loves me, fie godsake, why does this have to happen when I was thinking of loving her back and showing her the world?
When I make to the reception, I am panting and my heart is pounding in my chest. I try not to think of the worst that could possibly happen.
“How can we help you,” one of the women on the reception asks me.
“I am here to see a patient. Her name is Ariana Manroe. She has just been admitted. She has been in accident,” I tell her. My throat is dry and the word ‘accident’tastes bitter on my tongue. The redhead checks on the computer before her. I look around the place. There are many people around here, but I don’t see anyone jolly. Yes, because this is no place for fun. Ariana could be going through the worst time of her life.
“Ariana Manroe has been admitted to Room number 12 on the second floor. She is in line for scanning and we have arranged for a doctor to check on her,” she responds. Fuck! What?
“How long has she been here?” I ask, trying to keep my anger at bay.
“About an hour, Sir. But our staff is doing the best they can-,”
“She has been here for that long and no one has checked up on her?” I scoff in disbelief.
“Sir, our doctors are all occupied. We have arranged for-,” I cut her off.
“This is the worst hospital I have ever heard of. Do you understand that if she dies now, it is the hospital to blame? Where is your manager? I need to talk to him now,” I can’t keep my anger at bay any longer.
“You can’t sit. He has an appointment,” she responds.
“Fuck this! I am taking my patient with me and I am going to look for the best hospital that certainly pays more attention to patient’s health than them leaving before clearing the bills,” my voice is ice cold and I don’t give a damn.
“After doing that, I am going to make sure none of you here can retain your jobs,” I warn then before walking to the elevator. I don’t miss the shock I leave on their faces.
Reaching the room I was directed to, the door is open. I immediately walk in but all I find is a old woman dressed in a nurse’s uniform.
“Hi. Um… Where is the patient?” I ask, pointed to the empty hospital bed.
“Oh, she has just been taken to the scan. She will be back in a few minutes,” she replies and gives me a smile.
“Okay,” I mumble. Racking my hands through my hair I pace back to the door.
“By the way, are you Mr. Carter?” she ask, cocking her head to get my attention.
“Yes,” I respond, folding my hands nervously infront of my chest.
“Mr. Derricks, the director is expecting you in his office. He wants to talk to you. I don’t know about what,” she says.
I bet he is. After the shock I have given to his staff, I bet he wants to meet me.
“Can you show me to his office?” Perhaps meeting him will help me spare time as I wait for Ariana’s scanning to be over.
“Sure,” the old nurse resplies and I follow her out of the room.
“By the way? How is the patient’s condition? Is it really bad,” I ask the nurse as we way through the hospital corridors.
“She wasn’t bleeding heavily but she has Mainer winds on her arm and legs. I think she might have fractured her arm but we have to first confirm by scan. The doctor will give you a thorough report when he finishes examining her,” she replies.
“I can be patient with that. It doesn’t sound that dangerous so she will live. I hope so.
ARIANA has been shifted to a bigger and better room the fifth floor. After taking to the hospital’s director everything is going well. I am now allowed to meet my girl, but I am a bit nervous. What if she doesn’t want to meet me? Why wouldn’t she want to meet me anyway?
After taking in a deep breath, I enter the room. There she is. My beautiful girl, looking very weak and helpless. She has s surrounded by hospital machines, each one serving a purpose to support her life. I want to reach down and touch her face, but I probably shouldn’t. She sleeps silently, her chest rising and falling smoothly. She is alive. She is here. She is not going to leave me.
The fear of losing her is the one thing that has scared me most. I loved my parents very much and they were the most prescious part of my life and I was torn apart when I lost them, but this? This is different. Everything about this girl is different. The way she weaved into my life, into my heart, into my soul is all different. She has made me feel the way I have never felt. I don’t want to loose the feel of that. I want to hold onto it for as long as I can.
I pull a chair from the corner of the room and bring it closer to the bed. I gently pull her right hand from the bedspreads and hold it in mine. I lower my mouth to it and kiss it gently. Testing my cheek to it, I take in a deep breath.
I can’t believe my jovial and strong Ariana is laying here, weak and emotionless.
You are the bravest and strongest woman I know Ariana. Don’t give up on the fight. I am here for you.
There is a slight commotion outside the room. I hear female voices murmuring, or crying? I let go of Aria’s hand and gently place it back under the bedspreads.
I walk to the door and open it. Three shocked pairs of eyes meet mine. Ariana’s friends are here.
“Oh, my god! Liam! You are here?” Liza exclaims.
“Yes, and I have been here for hours now,” I respond, my tone cold. They just heard of the news?
“Is Aria in there?” the blonde inquires, peeking inside the room. I never even bothered to remember her name.
“Yes, she is. Please, come in,” I tell them, standing aside to let them in. They immediately begin sniffing and sobbing. For Goodness sake! She is not dead! I don’t go near them. I just watch from a distance.
“I have called her mom. She is going to be here with her father soon,” Liza says, walking to me.
“okay,” I mumble. i had even forgotten about her parents.
“We are going to stay here and take care of her. If you have somethings you want to do, you can go ahead,” she adds.
“No thanks. I am going to stay here and wait till she wakes up,” I tell her.
“Okay,” she shrugs, and walks back to her sobbing friends.
ARIANA’S mother is equally a sobbing mess but she recovers quickly. Mr Manroe is the only strong one who keeps telling them that she will be fine. The doctor has been here again to check on her and has assured us that she will be okay.
Mr. Manroe has taken me aside to talk but I am so damn nervous. I have talked to an uncountable number of men, if his age, both terrifying and cold, but I have never been this nervous to talk.
“So, how long have you been seeing my daughter? ” he asks, folding his hands in front of his chest. I gulp.
“About two months, Sir,” I reply.
“Are you serious about her?” His icey blue eyes bore through mine.
“Yes, I am very serious about your daughter. I priotize her happiness above mine,” I confess. He gives out a long sigh and unflolds his hands. He pats on my back.
“You look like a good guy to me. I don’t know if I should trust you, but good luck in convincing her mother,” he says and smiles.
“Thank you, sir,” I say and smile back, regaining my confidence.
“Hey, drop the ‘sir’. You are making me feel feel bigger than I am,” he says and chuckles. I give out a relieved smile, but I have been warned to impress Ariana’s mother. I can handle that, right?
