I don’t remember ever having such an amazing date in my life. All I had ever been through was some movies and simple meals in restaurants. Being here with Liam just feels out of my world. Liam is so our of my world and his interest in taking me out here really surprises me. All this feels so unreal. I am having such a great time and I am afraid it is going to bend way too soon, sooner than I would have wished.
The Helicopter ride was amazing and now the dinner. I am in awe of him. I am well aware of how wealthy he is and this probably doesn’t mean a lot to him but I am impressed. This is one interesting way to spend my weekend.
“There is one more place I want to take you to if you are not in a hurry of going back home,” he says. I don’t even want to go home. I am enjoying his company so much.
“I would love to. Take me wherever you want,” I say sincerely. A proud smirk spreads across his face. He gets up from the chair he was sitting on. He gives me his hand and I get up with a wild smile on my face.
“Where are you taking me this time, Mr. Carter?” I ask him as we walk on the shower.
“I will be straight forward this time. I am taking you on a ride on a boat,” he tells me. My jaw literally drops to the floor. Well, this is a lake and there are probably hundreds of boats here, but I know a ride with Mr Carter would be uniquely fantastic.
“What’s the matter? Haven’t you been on a boat before or are you hydrophobic?” he asks.
“None. I have been on a boat before, only that it was a long time ago,” I respond.
“Good,” he says and leads me forth.
The speed boat stands facing me like it has been waiting for my arrival. Whoa! It’s beautiful! The blue logo reading “Carter Shipping Co.” that was also on the helicopter. This must be one of the companies products. Quality products, I smirk in my head. What else would I expect from Mr. Carter? Always aiming for the extra ordinary.
A short bearded man walks towards us. Liam gives him a farmiliar look.
“Mr. Carter,” he greats him with a formal but friendly smile.
“Gordon,” Liam shakes hands with him and then turns to me.
“Gordon, this is Miss Manroe. She’s here with me and I am taking her on the waters for the ride,” Liam says, introducing me. I give him a small smile and he turns his attention back to Liam.
Gordon gives Liam the keys of the boat walks away. Liam passes me a life vest from the speedboat, and I dutifully put it on.
He climbs gracefully on to the Jet Ski and holds out his hand for me to join him. Grasping it tightly, I manage to throw my leg over the seat behind him without falling into the water.
Liam turns the key and the motor roars to life. With one twist of the accelerator, the speedboat bucks forward and speeds across the cool dark water, through lake and out to the center of the harbor toward the opposite shore.
I feel ecstatic! The huge grin on my face tells it all. I lean forward and wrap my hands around him from behind. He doesn’t stop me or say anything so I grab the chance and hold him tighter. I love this – it’s so exciting. Every muscle in Liam’s lean frame is evident as I cling to him.
When Liam notices how much I am enjoying myself, he accelerates again, and we shoot forward, whipping over the top of the water like an expertly tossed pebble. I squeal in excitement as water splashes onto my jeans. I don’t care if I get wet. I will have to deal with that later. Right now, I want to enjoy myself during this once in a lifetime experience.
He steers in a huge semicircle and I study the shoreline – the boats in the marina, the mosaic of yellow, white and sand-colored offices and apartments, and the craggy mountains behind. The sunset is so beautiful. I have never scene such an amazing sight of sunset in my life.
The sea spray is splashing us, the warm wind buffeting my face and flaying my ponytail crazily around me. I have no idea where Liam is taking me, but I don’t care. I trust him enough to go wherever he wants to take me. i would prefer anywhere with him other than being alone in my quiet and boring apartment.
Liam glances over his shoulder at me, and there’s the ghost of a smile playing on his lips.
“Again?” he shouts over the noise of the engine.
I nod enthusiastically. His answering grin is dazzling, and he opens the throttle and speeds around near the shore.
I find myself giggling and I can’t stop it. I love this! I wish I could stay here moving about on the waters with Liam, but our fun ride ends when Liam stops on the dock. He helps me step off the boat and we walk away.
“What about the boat?” I ask him, while looking behind at my new favourite vehicle, besides the helicopter.
“My staff will hlbe here soon to take care of it. There is a whole lot of Carter Ships’ staff around the dock so you don’t have to worry about it,” he replies with an affirming smile.
“Besides, which senseless thief would dare steal a Carter Shipping vehicle? He would eventually get caught before making it any far from the dock,” he tells me.
“Okay,” I respond with a shrug.
“Come on let’s go,” he says while getting hold of my hand. I am both surprised and excited to have Liam hold hand. Surprised because this is still need to me. Liam hasn’t been there long in my life but he has been the only man to ever make me feel like this: excited, alive! I have never felt like this in my life. He is so charming and caring yet I could have thought a lot worse than a spoiled filthy rich billionare.
I know Liam built this company on his own so he probably went through a lot of troubles to get where he is. I have much more respect for him not only because he helped me when I was struggling that night but also because he is such a hard-working and talented individual.
I wish there was a way I could pay back the favour and kindness he has showed me. But he has everything. What could he possibly want from me? That’s what is confusing me most about all of this. I don’t understand why he wants me around him. He could be with any other beautiful girl other than me.
“What are you thinking about?” Liam asks, cocking his head to look into my eyes. He towering inches taller than me. I would have to stand on my tiptoes if I wanted to kiss him well.
Oh, god! What am I thinking? It’s too early for that or it could even be impossible. If seems unbelievable that I am even this far with him. The sun has already set and the night has taken over. The whole town is lit up with street lights and twinkling stars. It would be too late for me to get back home, not because I want to but just incase I have to.
“You,” I mouth at him.
“What about me? Anything good?” he asks me, and I can’t stop smiling at him. I have had too good a day to stop myself from showing how happy I am.
“Good things only. This evening has been the best I have had in my life. I had such a great time. Thank you. You are such a charming man, Mr Carter,” I respond, selecting my words well so that I can be as truthful as possible.
“I am glad you had a nice time and you think that of me. I lt was my pleasure, Aria. Don’t speak like you want to go,” he says.
“No, ofcourse not! I mean, I don’t want to but I would if you did. Um, I really enjoy your company. I don’t want to leave yet,” I tell him. I don’t know when I want to leave but it sure isn’t now, or tonight. I don’t even know how to get back home.
“Good, because I want to take you to my house,” he tells me. I am not sure if I heard that right. I just stare at him with impossibly large eyes.
“Um, my house is just a short drive from here and we will be there in a few minutes. I just want to know if you want to come with me,” he says, while scratching the back of his neck. He looks so damn cute when he is unsure about something because he seems always collected and sure about what he does.
“Sure,” I have already come this far, so why not. The big grin he is wearing is somewhat infectious because I find it reflected on my face. I can’t help it.
I don’t know where Liam’s driver came from but he is already here to pick us up in a car. Liam helps me in and the car sets off when we are all in. I can’t believe this! He is taking me to his house, not the hotel suite I slept in? The hotel room looked fancy enough so I don’t know what to expect from his house but I guess it is also be over the top, just like Mr. Carter himself.
We pull up infront of a magnificent house, a towering mansion! Whoa! This is more than I expected! It’s so… I don’t even have the words to describe it. I don’t really know what to compare it with. It is just as classy as the owner. No, doubt Mr. Carter would chose to own it amongst all the fancy houses I have seen in the area.
Liam holds my hand and leads me into the house. There is an old man standing on the door, probably waiting to welcome us, or Mr. Carter, I don’t know. He must be part of the house staff. judging by the way he talks to him. He tells him that everything has been arranged for his stay, and then we walk inside. Wow! The interior is more astounding to look at. It’s dazzling.
“Do you like the place?” Liam asks me while we walk to through the richly furnished living room.
“I love it. It’s gorgeous,” I respond. He gives me a small smile and then careful releases my hand.
“Would you like to have a seat?” he inquires while motioning to the chairs.
“Sure, thanks,” I respond while sitting down in one of the chairs.
“Would you like something to drink? Wine?” he inquires from me.
“Wine. Please,” I respond.
“I will be back in a minute,” he says before walking away. I am left to wonder alone in the huge living room not knowing what to do with myself. I am well aware that Liam is filthy rich, so out of my world, my class. I don’t even know what I am doing here or how I even got this far. It started with a small dinner date which turned out to be way beyond what I expected, but this is not the time to think about that. The helicopter ride, the meal, the speed boat, it was all amazing. I want to have a great night tonight. I should be alone because this is making me think too much. I get up and start to retrace the way Liam went so as to find him.
