Amy shot him an annoyed look and continued picking up things.
“It’s really ugly.” He shrugged and tossed the little giraffe aside.
“You’re ugly!” she retorted, turning her head, angrily cursing him. That was her dear mother’s painting!
“Amy, you’re quite good at pretending. You act all gentle and virtuous over there. Now that you’ve got the house, you’re ready to break up with me?” he jeered.
Amy bit her lower lip, choosing not to speak.
“What about your car? Is it out of order? Or maybe it broke down?”
He looked at her with a mocking expression, full of disdain.
Could Amy say that her car ran out of gas as soon as she got home, and she had no money to refuel? Her destitution was fully exposed in front of Lucas, making her feel like a clown in this inexplicable marriage. She didn’t know what he did for a living, didn’t know how old he was, didn’t know about his family, didn’t know his intentions, and didn’t know why he suddenly appeared tonight…
She remained silent, tidied up the coffee table, and stood up, ready to leave.
“Go and cook; I’m hungry.” Lucas put down the plushie and picked up the recruitment newspaper she had placed on the other end of the sofa.
Amy took a deep breath, turned toward the kitchen, and walked away. It wasn’t about following orders; she just didn’t know how to interact with him.
Opening the refrigerator and glancing inside, Amy felt a bit embarrassed. She didn’t know how to cook much-only noodles and egg-fried rice. She decided to make egg-fried rice with some green peppers since he didn’t specify any requirements about her cooking skills when they discussed the terms.
Although it was a bit humiliating, Amy thought giving him a bowl of egg-fried rice was already good enough!
In the past five months, she had lost everything, struggling to survive alone. Life turned out to be so tough, money was hard to earn, and without money, the faces of many friends also changed.
“Drip…” Amy got lost in thought and accidentally cut her finger, and fresh blood surged out.
“You’re so clumsy.” Lucas’s hand reached over, caught her little hand, and put it into his mouth…
“Drip…” He also sucked in a cold breath. It was so spicy?
“When did you come in?” Amy blinked, holding her finger, which was now covered in chili seeds, blood, and even his saliva.
“When you were cutting vegetables,” he frowned, turning on the faucet to wash his hands.
Amy stared at him, continuing to chop the chili.
“Aren’t you adding any chili?” he turned around, raising an eyebrow.
Amy hesitated for a moment, “You don’t eat chili?”
Suddenly, Lucas’s expression turned cold. He twisted the faucet, turned around, and left. In no time, the sound of an engine outside indicated that he had left. Amy ran out and saw that he was gone!
“Neurotic.” Amy scolded angrily. Being asked to cook in the middle of the night, and after she cooked, he just left. Truly difficult to serve!
She turned back to the kitchen, grabbed the knife, chopped viciously a few times, and then grabbed some super spicy peppers. Chopping them finely, she mixed them with eggs, stirred them into the rice, and fried a big bowl!
Usually, she wouldn’t even dare to eat it herself! Would it be good with two eggs?
The aroma of chili smoke filled the kitchen, making her tear up. However, the fried rice looked perfect with golden grains. It was appetizing just by looking at it.
She happily hugged the bowl and went upstairs to eat.
Opening the bedroom door, turning on the TV, she sat cross-legged on her plush sofa, took a few bites, and the spiciness made her tongue feel like it was on fire. But it was really invigorating!
Crack… there was a sound behind her. She quickly turned her head, only to see Lucas coming out of her small bathroom wrapped in a towel.
“You didn’t leave?” she was startled.
“Go where?” He glanced at her with a cold expression and sat on the bed.
Those who left were the bodyguards, right? Amy looked at him, suddenly having a malicious idea, covered the rice grains with the chili slices, and then carried the bowl over.
“Try it; it’s delicious.”
“You added chili!” Lucas glanced at her, with a cold smile on his face.
“No, you said you don’t eat it, so I didn’t dare to put any.” Amy shook her head. “Really, watch me eat.”
She took a big bite and scooped a spoonful, feeding it to him. “Try it.”
Lucas stared at her for a few seconds, then opened his mouth.
Amy smiled and fed him the rice, looking gentle enough to squeeze out water.
“Puff…” Lucas spat it out, looked at her with a livid face, and suddenly stood up, rushing out to get some water.
