Nelly heard the voice loud and clear. Was this the reason Neuer’s voice was like that? He was making out with another woman even when they were engaged.
“Neuer? What’s…”
“I’m sorry about that, baby. It’s my…”
Neuer didn’t know what to call her. She was not his friend and there’s no way he would expect Nelly to understand what his ex was doing in his house. They had known each other for years and he never told her about his ex. Why did she suddenly appear few days after Nelly travelled?
“Neuer? Is there another person?”
“Common babe. There’s no other. It’s just you.”
Nelly didn’t wait to hear more of his ‘lies.’ She ended the call and fresh tears rushed to her eyes, falling freely down her face. Once again, she has been hurt on love. She regretted giving Neuer a chance. She took off his ring and placed it safely in a box. She would return his ring to him. She needed to cool her head, she got dressed, grabbed her car keys and hit the road.
Aria sat in a bar, drinking wine. It’s been two days since Easton gave her the task of killing Nelly when she was spotted in the company. It has also been two days since she resolved to tell Nelly everything but her courage failed her. She didn’t want to imagine Nelly’s reaction. As she sat there drinking wine, she knew her days were numbered. Easton would never forgive her for any reason. She was sorry and broken that her life was a mess and had to end in that way.
When she raised her head, she saw an extremely beautiful young lady walk majestically into the bar. She recognised her immediately. Nelly! Her heart skipped a beat as Nelly started coming in her direction. She bent her head and pretended to pick something from the floor. Nelly was too preoccupied with her own thoughts and problems to think about anyone else.
“Get me the strongest alcohol you have here,” she instructed the waiter. She drank the first, second, third and fourth shot and the alcohol started taking effect. She tried standing but she staggered. Some men around her noticed it and they exchanged glances. She was very beautiful and they wouldn’t mind taking advantage of her at that time. One man adjusted his clothes and walked up to her.
“Hi beautiful. You need help and I’m here to help you. Come with me, I’ll take you home.”
He held her by the waist to offer support but Nelly hit off his hands.
“I’m fine. I don’t need your help.”
“Common pretty. You can’t say that. Let me take you home, my dear.”
“Get out!” Nelly snapped. “Out!”
The man saw she was a difficult nut to crack. He raised his hands in mock surrender and went away. Nelly used her last strength to support herself and sat back on her chair. She dialed her speed dail, Ash, and the call connected immediately.
“Hello, baby girl,” Ash called out excitedly.
“Karevin,” Nelly muttered.
“What? Nelly? Are you there?”
The phone dropped from Nelly’s hands onto the floor.
“Karevin? Is she drunk?” Ash was able to solve the puzzle and he was at Karevin in no time. As he searched the place for her with his eyes, he called her number and followed the sound from her ringtone. Aria saw him approaching and sprang up. She had to disappear. She quickly made a dash for the door but she bumped into someone. When she raised her head, she couldn’t believe who it was. Has she landed herself in a bigger trouble? She had bumped into Ivan, the biggest CEO in the country.
“I’m… I’m… s…sorry sir..” she began.
Meanwhile, Ash finally found Nelly.
“Nelly? Nelly? I’m here, what happened?”
“Ash…he’s having an affair.”
“Are you okay? What are you talking about?”
“Neuer,” she answered and reached out to grab another glass of wine.
“Enough! You are wasted already. You don’t have to take more wine. Come, let’s go home.” He helped her to her feet.
“Have you gone mad?” an authoritative voice thundered from the door, sending shivers down the spine of everyone who heard it. It was Ivan who was scolding Aria. A person of Ivan’s status would not be in Karevin, of course Ivan wouldn’t be ther on his own accord. It was his friend again, Lucien. He loved attention and he pulled Ivan out of his office, insisting that they visit some top bars in the state. Now that Ivan decided to come, a lowly individual had the effontery to bump into him. Lucien had to play the mediator immediately although it was unlike him. He just didn’t want Ivan to get angry and call off the drinking.
“It’s okay. She’s sorry. I’m sorry about that too. Hey you! Get lost this minute. Next time this happens, I’ll make you pay for it.”
She was shoved aside so roughly and she fell to the ground like a pack of cards. When she turned around, all eyes were on her including Ash, the same person she was avoiding.
“Is she trailing Nelly?” Ash wondered. He didn’t want Ivan to see Nelly so he spun her around and covered her with his body. When he was sure that Ivan was settled and his focus wasn’t at the door, he took off his jacket, covered Nelly’s face and took her out of the place. He wanted to have a word with Aria, to properly warn her against doing anything funny but by the time he came out, she was gone. She had better behave herself and do nothing to hurt Nelly cos he wouldn’t sit still if anything happens. Ash took Nelly home and washed her face. She slept for four long hours before she got herself and the effects of the drink finally wore off.
“Why did you go to Karevin?” Ash asked her.
“I needed some time to think.”
“Think about what? Do you really care about your safety? I saw Aria and Ivan there!”
