Chapter 28

Book:Chasing His Ex-wife Published:2024-6-4

“What’s wrong, Nelly?” Amon asked.
“I don’t know what’s happening but my stomach Amon…it’s hurting.” Nelly’s response put it in Amon that she needed medical attention immediately.
“Amanda! Amanda!” Amon called her so she could be aware of what was going on.
Amanda rushed down only to find Nelly in a very distressing mood. There was no time to make decisions like ‘what hospital they would go to – if it was expensive or affordable’
Amon had to carry Nelly on his body because she could barely stand, not to talk of walking on her own.
They got to the hospital ten minutes later and Nelly was placed on emergency watch by the Doctor.
“Who is she to you?” The Doctor asked Amon.
“She is um…she is my wife, Doc!”
Amanda was shocked when Amon posed as Nelly’s husband. She was surprised, yes, but she still chose to remain silent. She didn’t show any objection in front of the Doctor. In fact, when the Doctor asked who she was, Amanda introduced herself as Nelly’s sister.
“Your wife is lucky that she as well as the baby are still alive,” the Doctor started. She continued-
“All it would take was the slightest bit of stress and the baby would be gone. And bringing her to the hospital was timely, it’s because of the swift action you took, that’s why your wife still has a baby in her womb.”
Wow! Just wow! Amanda and Amon could not believe their ears. They didn’t know how Nelly could have taken it or reacted if she lost her child. One thing they were so sure of was that she was going to be so devastated. Amon was glad that he didn’t let that happen to Nelly and Amanda was grateful to Amon, she couldn’t have done anything on her own.
When Amon left with the Doctor to get the needed medications, Nelly spoke briefly with Amanda.
“Why do you think he is doing all of this?” Nelly asked concerning the help that Amon was rendering to them.
“I think he cares a lot about you. I’ve seen the way he looks at you, he really wants you to be happy,” Amanda answered.
Nelly was scared of being spoken to about love that was why she asked Amanda such a question. She didn’t want Amon to do things for her because of any feelings he might be having.
Amanda said to her that she doesn’t think Amon is acting kind because he has feelings for her. This made Nelly relaxed.
When Amon returned, Amanda had to use the restroom so Amon and Nelly could talk for a minute or two. Maybe they could even have more time to discuss
“I think I’ll use the restroom downstairs. I just feel like stretching my legs a bit.” Amanda said to the both of them and she left.
“You didn’t complete whatever story you were telling me before I had these pains.” Nelly remembered Amon was speaking to her on how he developed his skills in fighting.
“I wanted to learn how to defend my mom from my dad so I decided to gear into boxing. I used it one day on my dad when he began hurting my mom and he then threw our things out of the house. I began using the skills on the street to survive.” Amon wiped off the tears lurking his eyes when he was done.
Nelly sympathized with him. She was impressed that even though he was raised by a horrible father, he still grew up to be a nice man. She made him know that, Nelly made him aware that she was so proud of him that he didn’t take after his father who didn’t know how to treat women right.
The following morning, Nelly was discharged and was taken home by Amon. She didn’t want him to take her home because she felt he needed to go to work but he insisted. Amon was so persistent that Nelly knew her refusing him was just going to end up making him go late the more. Amon would not have left there if Nelly refused to let him take her home.
Ash was at the shopping mall to get something for his fiance, Vivian. Her birthday was coming up so he planned a surprise for her. Ash knew already that it would be in a week’s time but he would not mention it to Vivian whenever they were having a conversation. As he was busy shopping, for a necklace in particular, he ran into Daisy Landers. He tried to dodge her but it was already too late, she had already seen him.
“Ash, right?” Daisy called out to him.
Ash turned around, it was his name, he couldn’t deny it.
“Don’t tell me you’ve been following all over the City,” Ash said to Daisy with an unbelievable look. He had been running into her wherever he went. Ash was beginning to think it was more than just a mere coincidence.
“Really? I could say the same for you. Maybe you’ve been the one following me around.”
“And what reason will I have to follow you around?” Ash asked Daisy.
“And what reason will I also have to follow you around?” Daisy responded with a question too.
“Maybe your maniac of a brother might have asked you to trail me just to find out if I know anything concerning the whereabouts of Nelly.”
“Do you?” Daisy asked.
“I wish I did, but I don’t.”
Daisy looked like the one always following him about. She was the one who kept calling him after all so Ash was right to feel that way, it was not out of place for him to think Daisy was actually following him.
“What are you here for?” Daisy asked, to the Ash’s surprise.
“Is that your business now?” Ash responded.
Daisy looked at Ash for a moment without saying a word. Ash was beginning to get uncomfortable so he questioned her on why she was staring at him in such a manner.
“You should do as I say if you want to get home in one piece!” Daisy suddenly said to him.
