Guard-three was displeased with Evelyn’s contemptuous attitude. Did she really think everyone had to revolve around her just because of her beauty?
“Then let’s start.”
Guard-three fixed his sharp eyes on a corner of the table. As long as he forcefully pushed Evelyn’s hand toward the edge, that hand would undoubtedly be disabled… He immediately exerted force, pushing Evelyn’s wrist toward the table corner.
The anticipated impact sound did not occur, leaving Guard-three bewildered. Turning back to see his hand completely untouched and Evelyn’s calm expression, a sense of fear washed over him.
Then, her arm continued pressing down, inch by inch, until it was just ten centimeters from the table. Suddenly, Evelyn stopped.
Her gaze was sharp, as if it’s capable of penetrating everything. “You picked a good spot at the table corner. But here, I can still disable your hand.”
With that, she forcefully pressed down on Guard-three’s wrist, hammering it towards the tabletop.
A thunderous ‘boom’ echoed as the heavy glass on the table instantly cracked, forming a rapidly extending fracture line. It sprawled across the tabletop until it reached the corner, shattering the entire glass surface with a loud crash.
Guard-three’s wrist was directly flattened, and a gush of blood spurted out.
Evelyn stepped back in disgust. “Tsk, the blood of trash is so disgusting.”
“Madam,” Guard-three knelt on the ground, gritting his teeth. “It was just a sparring match. You went too hard.”
These words, rather than a questioning directed at Evelyn, seemed more like a message for the other four.
Indeed, the expressions of the other guards changed. Even Guard-one frowned, displaying disapproval.
“I went too hard?” Evelyn sneered. “Are you just that weak?”
Upon hearing these words, Guard-three felt a twinge, the woman must have heard their earlier conversation..
Guard-five felt a chill. If Evelyn heard their conversation… His hand… It’s too dangerous just now… He silently stepped back. This was too, too terrifying. How could he be so foolish? A woman standing beside the boss, how could she be a naive little white?
Guard-one hesitated for a moment and whispered, “If he insulted Madam, ‘Shadowguard’ has its own rules and punishments. Madam shouldn’t have disabled him.”
“Disable him? I haven’t killed him, that’s already my greatest mercy.” In her previous life, the assassination attempt would likely happen soon. If Guard-three was a traitor, the person trying to harm Henry had probably already contacted him.
Pointing at Guard-three, Evelyn said, “I advise you all, before blaming me, go check on him.”
This demeanor clearly indicated that she had discovered something.
Guard-three, caught off guard by the revelation, wore an expression of panic. He tried to explain, “Madam, it’s our first meeting. How can you pin such a grave accusation on me? Since joining ‘Shadowguard,’ my loyalty has been solely to the boss. You can’t wrongfully accuse me.”
Evelyn casually picked up an orange and started eating. Then, she waved at the remaining guards. “Take him away and investigate thoroughly.”
Guard-one’s lips moved, but he ultimately chose to follow orders. However, a while later, Guard-one returned with Guard-three.
Evelyn glanced at them, asking, “Anything else??”
Guard-one looked at Guard-three and said, “He has something to say.”
Evelyn nonchalantly nodded. “Then speak.”
Upon hearing this, Guard-three forcefully pushed Guard-one aside and took a couple of steps forward. Then, he subtly positioned himself next to Evelyn, “Don’t move.”
Evelyn’s neck was pressed with a sharp blade.
Before she could react, Guard-three swiftly slashed, and the bright red blood immediately dripped onto the floor from Evelyn’s neck.
“How does it feel? Not so pleasant to bleed, right?” His voice was almost distorted, “If you want to blame someone, blame yourself for being blind enough to provoke me.”
“You filthy whore, do you know how powerful the person behind me is? A mere ‘The Wilson family’ is nothing, not even worth mentioning.”
Guard-three forcefully grabbed Evelyn’s hair, making her tilt her head back. The originally small wound instantly tore open, and more warm blood flowed out.
“Guard-three, release Madam immediately.” Guard-one obviously hadn’t anticipated this outcome.
Guard-five exchanged glances with the other two and silently activated the distress signal on their collars.
“Calling for help?” Guard-three, being part of ‘Shadowguard,’ naturally saw through their little trick. He sneered, “That will only hasten this woman’s death.”
“Madam, take a look. These people want to kill you,” he added.
“Heh,” Evelyn sneered, “Who dies first is still uncertain.”
She glanced at the handle of the knife, calculating the distance between the blade and her neck.
To escape Guard-three’s restraint, in their current positions, Evelyn only had one option to escape – collide with the knife and then overpower Guard-three.
Guard-one sensed her intention and quickly shook his head, “Madam, don’t act recklessly.”
“Boss will arrive soon, he can’t escape,” Guard-five reassured.
Another surge of blood stained her clothing, and Evelyn frowned. If this continued, even if Guard-three didn’t kill her, she might go into shock or faint from excessive bleeding, possibly leading to death.
She decided to take a gamble, relying on her reaction speed and extraordinary healing ability…
“You don’t naively think the people behind you will come to save you, do you?” Evelyn mocked. “To those people, what are you?”
“Just a pawn, nothing more. A pawn that doesn’t matter. I bet you have nothing in your hands except for me, a mere hostage.”
“Shut up,” Guard-three snapped, feeling increasingly frustrated and annoyed.
“So, why do you think they would come to save a pawn like you who got exposed before completing the mission?” Evelyn continued.
Her words were light, but they cut like an invisible blade, stabbing deeply into Guard-three’s heart.
His chest heaved, breath quickened, and even the hand holding the knife tightened and trembled.
Sensing the right moment, Evelyn held her breath, her gaze turning colder and colder. Finally, as Guard-three’s chest heaved heavily, she suddenly thrust herself forward.
In the eyes of Guard-one and Guard-five, it appeared as though Evelyn had collided her neck with the knife.
“It’s over!!!”
The next second, a resounding ‘bang’ echoed through the air.
Just in the nick of time, Evelyn used one hand to block the blade, swiftly turned around, and firmly planted her feet. The once arrogant Guard-three was flung away as if he were an old rag, crashing heavily to the ground.
“What the hell!” Guard-five exclaimed in shock, “How is this possible? Madam’s strength is just… unbelievable.”
Amidst the surprise, Guard-one quickly approached, viciously stepping on Guard-three.
Evelyn, holding her injured neck, suddenly felt her vision blur. Despite her enhanced blood-producing abilities, the loss was too rapid.
At that moment, the villa’s door swung open. Evelyn turned her head, her blurred eyes catching sight of a tall man rushing towards her. She managed to force a faint smile before slipping into unconsciousness.
Blood, everywhere Henry looked was blood, as if the world has been dyed red. He rushed forward, cradling Evelyn in his arms, “David, get Frank,” He called out, carried Evelyn upstairs to the operating room.
In his embrace, asleep Evelyn seemed to find a safe harbor. Subconsciously, she nuzzled against Henry, sinking into a deep slumber…
“Evelyn…”
…
Only two remained in the room.
Henry’s eyes were full of weariness and concern. He pressed his hand against Evelyn’s wound, the other gently sorting through her disheveled hair, “Evelyn, please, don’t die, don’t leave me behind…”
Frank entered, and Henry, still on high alert, turned his head with an icy and ruthless gaze that startled Frank.
Seeing Evelyn’s condition, Frank shook his head, muttering, “Although her body is different from an ordinary person’s, playing so recklessly can easily lead to self-destruction.”
“Frank.” Henry squeezed the name through his clenched teeth.
Frank shrugged, “Alright, alright…”
He then silently took out the suture needle, walking over to Henry, “You can leave now. If we wait any longer, she might bleed to death.”
Henry glanced at him, standing up like a lifeless machine.
Evelyn, even in her dreams, felt something. She frowned slightly, but no sound escaped her lips.
Watching this, Henry sternly reminded, “No scars.”
Evelyn was particular about her appearance. Even the faint marks left by his passionate moments had been complained for a long time…
“Understood,” Frank pouted and worked meticulously, “If you care this much, you shouldn’t let her get injured in the first place.”
Henry didn’t offer a retort, just furrowed his brows, overwhelmed by guilt.
