Seeing that the desired effect had been achieved, Evelyn gestured to Zella with her eyes. However, Zella didn’t put down the knife as agreed. Seeing the undisguised murderous intent in her eyes, Evelyn felt a bit alarmed.
Zella had no intention of letting go of the knife!
The distant sound of police sirens had already started, and Zella didn’t dare to linger any longer. She lowered her head and said sinisterly, “In the next life, don’t let me run into you again, or I’ll send you on your way.”
“No… Ah!…”
A scream echoed, and blood splattered. Some of the blood sprayed onto Wesley, scaring him so much that he wet his pants.
The police rushed forward and took the knife from Zella.
In the midst of the commotion, Evelyn, calmly observing Zella’s condition, dialed the number of a psychiatric hospital. This was all she could do for Zella.
The phone rang.
“Lydia,” Evelyn answered.
Lydia was excited, “Evelyn, it’s so cool. You effortlessly exposed the lies of these two.”
After a moment of thought, Lydia added, “Regarding the trending topic accusing you of fabricating a voice message to slander Wesley, I think it’s necessary to clarify. If netizens happen to dig it up again one day…”
“Check your email,” Evelyn smiled, “After sending out these press releases, I think you owe me another meal.”
Lydia had obviously opened her email. After a moment of silence, she spoke again, ‘You’re giving me such explosive information for free? Don’t talk about one meal; I’ll treat you to ten.”
In her email, Evelyn had already prepared press release materials. It included evidence of Quinn deliberately having Zella imitate Evelyn’s voice recording, as well as evidence of Wesley’s various shady contracts and tax evasion over the years.
After reading it, Lydia’s hands were trembling with excitement.
“I’m flying back to the company right now. I’ll slap those old guys in the face hard.”
…
The meeting room at The Hall Group was occupied by Terrence and a few other shareholders, all waiting to witness Lydia’s anticipated failure. They were convinced that Lydia couldn’t handle the company’s crisis, not even paying attention to the recent press conference.
Taking a sip of tea, Terrence sneered as Lydia burst into the room, “Miss Hall, even if you’re in a hurry to come back and apologize, you should take care of yourself.”
Lydia shot him a disdainful look. “Everyone, the company’s issues have been resolved.”
Terence was skeptical about it; he frowned, noting that the company’s stock price was still hovering at its lowest levels. He immediately scoffed, “Miss Hall, what are you talking about? Are you daydreaming?”
“If you want to shift blame, at least find a reason that’s not easily debunked.” He sneered.
Lydia remained silent, holding her phone and sending out several press releases in quick succession. Only after these releases were published did she slowly raise her head, “What nonsense are you spouting?”
Terrence was about to erupt, but someone next to him reminded him that Lydia had just released several press releases. Seeing the content, Terrence was immediately furious.
“You dare to publish something without evidence, Lydia? Are you deliberately trying to ruin us?”
Lydia raised an eyebrow, “What if these things really restore the company’s reputation?”
“What?” Terrence treated it like a joke, “If these childish things can really save the company, then the board doesn’t need me anymore. I can resign unconditionally.”
“Really? Are you serious?” Lydia’s expression seemed somewhat regretful. “You are getting old, after all. Think about it again before making a decision.”
Terrence coldly laughed, “Don’t rejoice too soon. If the company suffers because of these press releases, then let your father step down as the chairman.”
Lydia nodded confidently, “Sure. But as a junior, I still have to remind you to be cautious.”
Terrence’s mind was filled only with the position of chairman; he couldn’t care less about what Lydia was saying. He leaned back in his chair, feet up.
After some time, someone on the side turned pale suddenly, pointing at the stock market chart and stammering, “The company’s stock price has recovered.”
“Really! In less than three minutes, it has even surpassed the original price.”
“How is that possible?” Terrence was shocked, sitting up from his chair, almost stumbling and falling.
“It’s true, it’s trending on hot searches. All the netizens are praising our company’s press releases for exposing the societal tumors.”
Terrence took a glance, and his face turned ashen. How could Lydia, that inexperienced young girl, find so much information and execute such a meticulous plan?
He suddenly thought of Evelyn, eyes filled with resentment.
“I told you earlier to consider it carefully. Sign it.” Lydia shrugged and held out the resignation statement from the board.
Terrence glanced at it and tremblingly signed reluctantly.
