“Hello…”
Roxanne’s phone was on her ears as she muttered the barely audible words.
She was lying down on her bed, wearing nothing but her casual nightwear, hugged warmly by the sheets above her. She was back in her hotel room, enjoying the processed air of the air conditioner, as well as the comfortable mattress she lay on.
Her eyes appeared distant, thinking about something far away.
“Hello, this is Rei Daniel. Who am I speaking with?” A deep masculine voice answered from the other side of the call.
His voice startled Roxanne a little, since her mind had wandered far from the call she made. Her lips trembled as she held her hone tightly.
“Hello…?” He added, wondering when the person who called him would respond.
“Y-yes. This is Roxanne… you know, Black Cat…” She flushed, slightly embarrassed to be mentioning her wrestling name out loud.
A brief moment of silence swept through the call, making Roxanne anxious.
She wondered if he still remembered her, or if he was even expecting her call at all.
“Did I mess up?!” She panicked internally.
“Yes, I’m back! I’m sorry, had to get away from where I was so I could better talk to you. Roxanne, yeah?” Daniel asked once again.
“Yeah…” She answered, her voice trailing with uncertainty.
“I’m happy you decided to get in touch! I was beginning to worry that you wouldn’t” He spoke in a cheerful fashion, making Roxanne let go of her initial fears.
“A-ah, I see. I just had to take some time considering it… your offer.” Roxanne said.
“I understand perfectly. And I assume you’ve made your decision?” Daniel asked.
“Yeah. About that, I-”
“Perfect. Roxanne, if you wouldn’t mind. Could we meet? You can tell me all about it then.” He quickly interrupted.
His brashness startled Roxanne a little, since she was still jumpy from all the excitement before. Taking in slow breaths, she calmed herself.
“Like, right now…?!” Roxanne asked, suddenly realizing what Daniel was asking of her.
“Yeah. Are you busy right now?”
Roxanne considered his offer, and being fair with herself, she had no reason to refuse.
“No, I’m not. Where do you want us to meet?” She asked.
A brief moment of silence ensued again, and Roxanne felt a tinge of impatience welling up within her.
“How about the entrance of your hotel? There’s where I am currently.” Daniel said.
“W-what?!” Roxanne exclaimed, quickly cautioning herself as she unintentionally raised her voice.
She was beyond shocked by Daniel’s sudden revelation. What was he doing there? Was it just a coincidence that he happened to be nearby when she called, or did he lodge close to… or even in the hotel she was staying? Either way, it didn’t seem like he was joking.
“Roxanne? Are you there?” His voice came from the speaker, bringing taking her away from her deep thoughts.
“Y-yeah! You’ll have to give me some time before I can meet up with you. I have to get dressed and-” Roxanne rushed as she spoke.
“Ah, that’s alright. I’ll be waiting for you” Daniel answered in a relaxed manner.
“O-okay then.” Roxanne said awkwardly.
Not knowing what else to say, she ended the call and flung her phone to her side, giving a deep sigh.
“What the hell…” She mumbled.
Remaining on her bed for a moment, Roxanne’s thoughts tried processing what she was feeling within herself.
Impatience. Anxiety. Worry. Longing.
Why was she having these emotions within her. They made conversing with Daniel difficult, as she felt a rush of those feelings within her at random times.
Remembering Rita’s words, it could be due to her connection to Asher. That led Roxanne to ask herself-
“Is this what you’re feeling right now, Asher?”
Whispering those words to herself, Roxanne recollected her last moments with Rita, and how they parted ways on a not-so-friendly note.
After she recovered entirely, her mother and grandmother wee still unconscious, giving her the perfect opportunity to leave without getting their attention.
“I’ll be heading out first… thanks for taking care of them for me. I truly appreciate it…” Roxanne said to Rita as she neared the entrance of the house, taking her leave.
Rita blatantly ignored Roxanne, pretending not to hear a single word she said.
Of course, this hurt her, but Roxanne couldn’t complain. She had done a lot worse as a result of her selfishness.
“When they wake up, could you tell them not to worry about me? I’ll be sure to reach out to them soon.” Roxanne spoke with a slight smile.
Rita still kept quiet, refusing to even glance in Roxanne’s direction. Roxanne let out a sigh and opened the door, bringing in a rush of the chilly air outside the house.
Knowing she couldn’t leave the door open for long, Roxanne stepped out, not waiting for Rita’s words of farewell.
They never came.
“Ah, there’s no use thinking about that now!” Roxanne groaned to herself.
Pushing herself in a groan, she bounced on her bed, getting out of the blanket wrapped around her. Pushing aside the worrisome thoughts she was having, Roxanne decided to make herself optimistic. After all, she would be sealing the deal for a new Chapter of her life.
“Let’s get this show on the road”
After several minutes, Roxanne was finally done. She locked her door and began walking through the passageway in a hurry.
“Shit, I think I took too long!” She thought frantically.
Her outfit was casual. Wearing a brown jacket with a white top underneath, her blue leather jeans matched the gloves she wore, and her brown boots matched her jacket.
She tier hair with a bowknot, making her appear as neat and presentable as possible.
Upon reaching the ground floor, Roxanne went to the reception n desk and cleared her temporary exit.
“I’m so sorry I kept you waiting for long!” She said apologetically as she approached Daniel, who was standing alone outside the hotel.
“Oh, don’t mention it. I was the one who abruptly asked for a meeting between us anyway.” He grinned.
His flashy smile, coupled with the way the sun reflected on his clear face, made Roxanne feel a slight moment of hesitation. Her heart began to beat fast and the usual nudging she had been feeling recently occurred.
“Y-yeah…” Roxanne muttered, blushing a little.
“Now then, let’s head out” Daniel flashed his confident smile again.
Instantly removing a car remote control from his pickets, he pressed on the unlock button and a beeping sound echoed through Roxanne’s ears.
Roxanne had not paid it much mind before since she was fixated on Daniel, and her emotions had been running wild, but as her eyes darted to the object behind her professional date, she was shocked.
The black beast in form of a car beeped in a low, sophisticated manner, glistening in the sunlight. The sleek ride which Daniel had prepared for her was enough to make any girl go breathless, and she wasn’t an exception.
“Roxanne… after you.” He spoke softly, opening the door for her.
Smiling sheepishly, embarrassed for showing her surprise, Roxanne entered the car as she whispered a brief ‘Thank You’, to the gentleman.
Daniel whispered ‘You’re welcome’, winking at Roxanne as he proceeded to the driver’s seat. Roxanne felt strangely hot in the cool car, and her heart began beating faster than usual. She felt like she was about to burst as it continued thumping loudly.
“What’s going on… could it be…” She asked herself.
The engine kicked to life as Daniel started the car, and as he wheeled the car like an expert, the two were on their way to where they would be spending their the next couple of hours.
However…
Asher’s eyes were widened as he saw the sight before him. His body stiffened and refused to budge. Watching his mate, the woman he had been searching for get into the car of another.
The gentleman wore a very exquisite outfit. Though it appeared casual, Asher could tell it was not one an ordinary guy could have.
The woman entering was undoubtedly her, his Luna. His eyes and senses could not deceive him. Plus, he felt the usual unrest within his inner wolf.
“R-Roxanne…?!” He mumbled.
She entered the car, and the gentleman did the same. Before he could react and snap out of his dumfounded state, the car had started, and was already in motion.
“N-no… wait!!!” Asher yelled, gaining control of his body at that moment.
Of course, he would not dare use his ability in front of so many people, but those thoughts didn’t even cross his mind.
He ran, trying fruitlessly to chase the speeding vehicle which zoomed off within moments.
Asher finally stopped dead in his tracks, realizing what he was doing was meaningless. Heaving a deep breath, he narrowed his crimson eyes and focused on the lingering scent in the air.
Tightening his fist as he gained the right mark for tracing the car, Asher began walking slowly. Multiple thoughts swam across his head, but a predominant one silenced the rest.
“R-Roxanne… finally. I found you!”
