Roxanne’s eyes glowed and instantly her body morphed, raking the form of her beastly side. She remembered this sensation that she had… It was similar to that time in the village… Partial Transformation.
Instantly growing wolf limbs, ears and tails, Roxanne felt the exhaustion enveloping her wear off.
Her bright blue eyes glowed in the dark, growling at the man in front of her.
“You…” She said carefully, glaring at Donald.
He didn’t appear fazed in any way. In fact, Donald seemed to enjoy her savage display.
“So the monster has finally shown its true colors” He grinned, raising his hand to signal his comrades.
Emerging from the darkness, over a dozen men appeared, holding guns tightly. They all pointed at Roxanne, and from their concentrated glare, they did not intend to miss their targets.
Roxanne’s eyes darted about, and she knew she was in a dangerous predicament. Not only was she surrounded, but her abilities had been severely dampened by wolfsbane. She was only holding on to her transformation, but she knew it wouldn’t last forever.
Once again, she had to kill.
Flexing her sharpened claws, Roxanne dashed toward one of the men who pointed toward her. Seeing as she took action, they shot their guns, taking advantage of the silencer feature it had in order not to alert anyone nearby.
Roxanne ran in a zig zag fashion, making sure to evade the bullets in a swift manner. In no time, she had advanced to the man before her. Using her claws, she tore through his flesh and diced him into minced meat.
“Grrrrr…” She growled even more, refusing to remain at a fixed point.
“You beast! Just die already!” Donald spat, feeling a surge of rage as he watched one of his own die.
“When will the wolfsbane fully take effect?!” He questioned, surprised that Roxanne was able to last so long without collapsing.
Perhaps he had underestimated her ability… No, she far surpassed the parameters that were given to them by their source. Did Larry intentionally mislead them? According to him, she hadn’t been a werewolf for long, yet the prowess she was displaying at the moment betrayed their expectations.
Roxanne pierced through the chest of another Hunter, sending blood flying across the room. Donald, feeling less sure of himself now, proceeded to his corner in order to procure a more effective weapon on Roxanne.
“No, you don’t!” She growled, rushing toward him in rage.
Her emotions and thoughts were all clouded with anger and betrayal… As well as the will to live.
“You betrayed me!” Roxanne yelled, ready to slice through her coach’s body.
Donald was shocked by her intense speed and closed his eyes, expecting a swift and bloody death.
His scared expression caused a brief moment of generation within Roxanne, giving a Hunter the window of opportunity to take a clean shot at Roxanne.
“Gahhhhh!” Roxanne yelled, feeling the bullet pierce her side.
She took a few steps back, instantly retreating. Donald gave a pleased look as he ventured to grab his own rifle which he placed in a corner within the room.
Roxanne collapsed on the floor, now on her knees as she weakly groaned as a result of the pain she felt. Her healing was hampered as a result of the wolfsbane in her system, and the one laced on the bullet she was shot with.
Her body felt like it was on fire, and she started losing herself once again. The fear of death, as well as lingering regrets made rears form in her eyes as she whimpered weakly.
“Hehehe, not so tough now, are you?” Donald grinned.
“Ahh… haa-” Roxanne kept moaning in pain as she lost more blood.
She was certainly cornered, with no way out. Was she going to die?
“You’re one stubborn beast, I’ll give you that. But your death was inevitable!” Donald said, moving closer to her.
Roxanne tried to move her tired body, all in futility.
Donald kicked her with his leg, sending her throbbing body sliding across the floor.
“I can’t believe I ever considered someone like you a daughter… What an animal. Just look at you, indistinguishable from a wild beast!” Donald said in hate.
“Huff… Haa…” Roxanne continued to groan as she suffered, slowly awaiting her death.
“H-how did you know…?” Roxanne managed to ask, looking at Donald in helplessness.
“At first I suspected when I saw how you wrestled that Christmas night. But, I confirmed it after we sparred. I also intentionally made you talk about your family and the time you spent away. It wasn’t difficult to deduce from your words that you were talking about a pack.” Donald revealed.
“W-why… are you doing this? I never…” Roxanne sobbed as she spoke, feeling more pain from the betrayal.
The one man she believed in to always have her back, he turned out to be the one who was about to execute her.
“Why?! Look at you! How can you call yourself human? You’re an abomination! Your kind was never supposed to exist. And that’s why we are here, to put an end to your filthy race!” He laughed in hate.
Tears welled up in her eyes as Roxanne wondered whether this was the same man who taught her boxing for all these years… The kind, yet stern teacher she had.
His warped expression and twisted smile bore no resemblance to the warm coach she knew.
“Since you’re about to die, I might as well tell you… Your folks are also meeting the same fate as you” Donald suddenly revealed.
Roxanne’s eyes bulged upon hearing him.
“Oh? Shocked? Well, you shouldn’t be. Did you really think I asked about your grandmother’s house merely out of curiosity? No. Even now, our agents have gone there to exterminate your mother and grandmother who currently reside there”
Upon hearing Donald’s shocking words, Roxanne desperately shook her body, trying to rise, but when she could not remove the natural poison for her kind.
“If only, I were stronger… If only I had help… Someone… Anyone… I can’t… Do this alone…” She whispered to herself powerlessly.
“It’s no use. You have no idea how long I have waited for this moment. Now then, Roxanne… for the last time. Die!” Donald cocked his gun and pointed it toward Roxanne’s head.
>CRASH!!!< A sudden sound reverberated across the room as one of the Hunters was pounded to the wall by a strange figure who entered the room. The man instantly died as a result of the blunt force used by the mysterious intruder. >Whoosh< In an instant, this silhouette took down another Hunter, before anyone could react, sending his head rolling on the ground. "W-who's there?!" Donald yelled, pointing the gun toward the stranger. The remaining hunters did likewise, wondering who their new opponent was. Roxanne, in her pitiful state, recognized the scent quite well. Her face brightened up as she let out a sad, relieved smile. Tears flowed as she cried within herself. Roxanne couldn't believe her reunion with her friend would happen this way, but she couldn't be happier by her arrival. "Rita… you came!"
