#2 Chapter 25

Book:Christmas With the Wolves Published:2024-5-1

“My name is Karina, and your life is in danger… Roxanne.”
Upon hearing this, Roxanne didn’t know what to make of this strange woman’s assessment, but the expression on her face made Roxanne not to doubt her words.
“Katrina…? Is she a Werewolf too?” Roxanne asked herself.
“Yes, I am.” She swiftly answers, as though reading Roxanne’s mind.
“H-How are you doing that? How are you doing this?” Roxanne asked, even more puzzled.
The woman’s introduction didn’t answer any of her questions, but only added to her confusion, since she mentioned Roxanne’s life being in danger.
“You do not know of the Arts… I understand. You just recently Awakened, and have yet to fully immerse yourself in your heritage” Katrina mumbled.
“What the hell is she talking about?” Roxanne asked herself.
“You must be very confused by my words. It’s understandable too. However, a time will come when you will grasp the truth behind it all. If you truly are Luna, then all will be revealed soon” Katrina said, with a little twinkle in her eyes.
“You said my life is in danger. What does that mean?” Roxanne asked.
“I do not know everything, but I have seen glimpses of your future, young lady… You should be careful about going to the Boxing Gym. That will be the point of danger. You should also reach out to your family… Spend time with them” Katrina advised.
“What do you know about-”
Roxanne quickly halted her question. It was pointless to ask. At this moment, the only thing she could do… Was listen.
“So, you’re finally ready to learn? You possess good wits.” The older woman smiled.
“You can not be told everything now, but this I shall reveal as a final gift before we part ways… The Werewolf Arts” Katrina said.
Roxanne didn’t know what the word meant, but judging by the woman’s countenance, it had to be something important.
“You already have a basic grasp of your Werewolf abilities. However, as one entitled to Royal lineage, there is a final secret you must unlock. An exclusive gift only given to the leaders of the Pack… The Werewolf Arts.” Katrina revealed.
“I-I see… These Arts, you said my ability to see people’s intentions is one of them?” Roxanne asked, now calmly engaging in conversation with the woman after realizing resistance was futile.
“Yes. It is called [INSIGHT]. There exist six major Arts within the Werewolf cycle.” She answered.
“[Domination], [Charm], [Insight], [Revelation], [Link], and [Aura],” Katrina listed out.
Roxanne clung to every word she heard from the woman. Of course, she still needed more information, but that would be up to her to share.
“Domination enforces the user’s will, and completely controls the targets. This is quite burdensome, as the targets can get internally damaged or mentally scarred as an effect of the use of Domination.
Charm is milder, as it appeals to the emotions of the target. The only disadvantage is that it is only effective on members of the opposite sex.
Insight, as you’ve noticed, allows you to see the true nature of everything and everyone you focus on. It is the ultimate skill for discernment.
Revelation allows you to see the future to a certain extent. It’s how I know about the danger looming around your life.
Link allows you to read the minds of others, as long as you’ve seen them before…” Katrina explained.
It was a lot to take in, but Roxanne diligently listened.
“W-What of the last one?” She asked.
“Aura? That coats the user with a powerful force that allows the werewolf to decimate any enemy. It’s fueled by powerful emotion and can take any form.” Katrina revealed.
Roxanne was amazed by these Arts that were just exposed to her.
“She’s most likely using Domination to keep me seated, using Link to read my mind, she used Revelation to see the future… And she has so much knowledge on these things. Just who is she?” Roxanne thought to herself.
This made the old woman give her a knowing look, causing Roxanne to realize that she could hear her thoughts..
“A-Ah…” Roxanne laughed slightly embarrassed.
“It seems your initial fear has vanished. Good.” Katrina smiled.
“Are you never going to tell me your identity?” Roxanne finally asked point-blank.
For a moment, silence filled the air as both women stared at each other. Suddenly, the older woman burst out laughing.
“Hahahaha”
The sudden reaction of the woman puzzled Roxanne, who could only look in utter confusion.
“I’m afraid not. However, this will not be our last encounter. I’m sure we’ll meet again soon.” She said with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes.
Before Roxanne could utter another word, the woman jumped on her feet.
“I shall be taking my leave now. After I’ve gone for a while, you’ll be able to move your body normally” Katrina said.
Then, without any other word, she began to walk away while leaving Roxanne seated in the park.
“H-Hey!” Roxanne called out, but she blatantly ignored her.
“She said only leaders in the Pack can possess Arts. D-Does that mean… She’s a Luna too?” Roxanne asked herself.
If that was the case, she had to get up and talk to her more.
There were so many things she wanted to ask about, yet the answers to so many of her questions were leaving her.
“Oh, and good luck with Asher. Make sure you tell him hi for me” The strange woman’s voice suddenly sounded, snapping Roxanne back to reality.
“W-Wha?!” Roxanne exclaimed, turning in the direction of Katrina’s voice.
No one was within sight, as it seemed she had disappeared into thin air.
“How did she know about Asher?” Roxanne asked herself.
She wasn’t even thinking of him at the moment.
“Maybe she saw it with Revelation, or something” Roxanne concluded.
There were so many things she didn’t know, and she wanted to question them at this point.
“I do hope I see her again… Soon” Roxanne mumbled to herself.
Whoever she was, Roxanne felt like she had the answers to the question within her heart concerning what to do, and the next step she should take forward.
“What a sweet girl…” Katrina’s thoughts trailed as she walked down the path she took, feeling the winter breeze blow away her black and gray hair.
“Looks like my first chat with my daughter in-law was a success. Now then, to find my pesky son and drill some sense into him as well…”
“That troublesome boy, Asher… He’s here too. How interesting. I can’t wait to see how this all plays out” She grinned excitedly.
